1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy.

Pros: None, 2 system in a row both with the same defect and never powered up.

Cons: Defective power switch on 2 systems. Seems they have a major issue with this model.

Pros: Arrived fast, worked right out of the box, no issues with the power button compared to previous reviewers, not a lot of bloatware to remove, fast performance, overall just a great desktop!

Cons: Wish it would come with a DVI graphics ouput, but I remedied that quickly and cheap by using a DVI-to-HDMI cable to my monitor.

Pros: It shipped FAST! Newegg is awesome with their shipping. Stuff I order usually comes the next day. I really like that.

Cons: Well....I was under the impression that this computer comes with a 1TB hard drive. Unfortunately that was not the case. The hd properties show it to be 540GB. So THAT was kinda a drag. Also, at start up I get a c prompt (is that right, it's the cmd screen) saying something like, "could not find fiodiag/status; could not find purtest", then it shuts off. However after the second boot it stays on but the c prompt still comes up. So THAT'S a little hokey. It's not connected to the internet so I'm wondering if it's just an update issue. Lastly, I was under the impression that this is a 64 bit o.s. It turns out that it is not. :( So....I called newegg and I have to get all the information to call in....pack it ALL up...and get it back to the warehouse for a refund, then re order what I THOUGHT I was getting in the first place....which is gonna be kinda a hassle cause of my work schedule.....but now I'm just whining. :)

1 out of 5 eggsInferior Quality of manufacturing

Pros: Relatively cheap and loaded with features.
Comes with Windows 7, not 8.

Cons: Power switch VERY poorly secured - prevented computer being turned on.
VGA connector bends backwards when video cable is inserted.

Other Thoughts: I don't know it's just bad luck but I got this machine a week ago. Hooked it up. Pressed the power button - nothing. Pressed it a dozen more times - nothing. The case has a warranty seal so can't open to see what's going on. Tried to do RMA online - can't. Had to call NewEgg by phone. Fortunately that went pretty easily and got the bad unit shipped back the same day.

Today I got the replacement unit. Same issue. Pushing the power button - nothing. In desperation I called ASUS tech support. While waiting on the phone I kept playing with the power button, then it suddenly turned on when I pressed harder. So I thought it was probably just me not doing it right.

But I had to be sure the button worked consistently. So I turned off the computer and it took a dozen tries before it would turn on. And I couldn't turn it off, no matter how many times I tried. So I thought I send it back again for refund this time but that's more wasted time and my client will be getting antsy.

Then I pulled on the front plastic and I was able to open it up enough to access the power button. Then the problem became evident: the power switch was just dangling in the air!! No wonder it was a hit or miss if it activated!

I put the switch back into its place but I noticed it went in and out way too easily. It wouldn't last more than a dozen uses. So I added a bunch of hot glue to keep it in place.

This is just bad design and manufacturing!

Also I noticed when I connected the video cable that the VGA connector was able to move inward several millimeters. It wasn't properly secured to the case and it could easily break or crack the motherboard if someone is not careful or if there's pressure on it.

Again, bad design and manufacturing.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor performance

Pros: Well built, good brand

Cons: Slow performance

Other Thoughts: this ought to be much faster for a i5 processor.
I'm shocked because ASUS is my favorite brand

5 out of 5 eggsGood Mid-level Machine

Pros: Good processor, high memory speed, good motherboard, good potential for upgrades.

Cons: 4GB memory is a bit low. Can be upgraded to 16GB, though.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent machine

Pros: Price-Core i5-ASUS motherboard-Seagate Barracuda HDD-Quality name brand power supply.

Cons: Comes with one 4GB module running in single channel mode. No SATA RAID.

Other Thoughts: Overall a decent mid-level machine for the money.
