1 out of 5 eggsI got what I paid for...

Pros: Bought this PC as a refurb (scratch and dent) at what I thought was a excellent price. Turns out I got what I paid for.

Cons: Opened box, PC case has several scuff marks and front bezel was loose. No big deal to me. But upon trying to power it on, it won't boot. Says insert boot media or select proper boot device and press a key. Went to BIOS and tried to swap devices but this did not work either. Opened PC and to my suprise, the SSD drive was disconnected. Reconnected and rebooted and still saw same issue.

A friend suggested I try booting with a ubuntu cd and see if any of the drives have an OS on them. Did that and saw no OS installed anywhere. And also, like another reviewer mentioned, the 3 TB hdd had files on it from the previous user (iTunes, iCloud, some games, etc). So, in my humble opinion, this PC was never fully refurbished. Don't think I will ever purchase a refurb product from newegg again.

Pros: Very fast, did not overheat

Cons: Persistent read/write errors when trying to use SSD, OS originally installed on HDD and could not migrate.

5 out of 5 eggsWas worried, but Great

Pros: Quick install, works great. Got this after a very substantial price drop deal on Newegg. Computer is powerful and quiet. Haven't had any overheating issues, and haven't had any terrible issues pop-up.

Was pleasantly surprised that it came with OS on SSD, and had a wireless card and antenna. Definitely feel in the upper echelon of gaming computer owners

Cons: Several very adament negative reviews for this product made me feel like i was really rolling the dice. Through forums, confirmed that people got this with OS on HDD, confirmed overheating, confirmed features randomly missing/added - no wireless, etc.

While the OS was freshly installed on SSD, the 3TB Harddrive was left essentially intact from the prior owner... Yeah it's refurbished, but c'mon - clean install, no spyware

Pros: Good shape

Cons: Can not get the SSD detected. I've tried different BIOS settings and now wondering if SSD is DOA.

5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished CG840

Pros: Great computer, components are awesome. No overheating issues, beast of a machine (And yes it has a 660 in it, which is a great card)

Cons: The con, well its a pretty big one. The PC has 2 HDD's (3tb and a 128gb ssd) One would think that the SSD would have the OS on it and the 3tb would have the SystemRestore partition. This is not the case. The OS and SystemRestore partition are the the 3tb and the SSD is not even formatted. I cannot for the life of me find a way to access the SystemRestore partition. I ended up pulling the .wim from the SystemRestore partition and made my own ISO through AIK packaging (Not suggested for anyone but advanced users). Once i got the SSD with win 8 and updated (no issues) it runs like it should.

Other Thoughts: I got in contact with ASUS at first to try and find out what was going on and how to access things. Online chat was very rude, phone chat was not but was not helpful as they said 'thats not the way it came from us, we cant help you' I would have liked a bit more support from asus. That being said i've had asus products for forever and they have always been good.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished CG840

Pros: Love the machine when it runs, it's fast and efficient. We are running these for graphic design and ripping files for large format printing. If you can get past the Windows 8.1 update without a hitch, the machine will run well.

Cons: Don't buy one of the refurbished models. I have purchased 3 of these and had to return two of them. Unfortunately, the machines do not update well, they do not come with operating system re-install disks and ASUS will not send out Windows 8 disks, you have to send the machine back to ASUS to have the operating system re-installed. If you decide you want to change the hard drive for some reason you are out of luck, ASUS will not install the operating system on anything other than the original drive.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great parts in the computer.

Cons: I've yet to run a game on it yet and it is over heating running at up to 70 C after just less then a hour of surfing the internet. The CPU is completely over heating and something it wrong with the computer and it keeps flashing the screen on and off. Out of the box the handle on the back was broken and the are marks all over the computer. The scuffs and broken handle i can deal with the not working and overheating i can not. I would like a full refund and will wash my hands of this horrible pc.
