2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ASUS products have been a consistently high quality machine. Our company has sold many. This machine has all the right specifications and should have been a great performing tool.

Cons: Our company purchased and installed two of these pcs for a customer over 50 miles away from our shop. The work was onsite. The first machine failed after one week. The second failed during install with the exact same issue. The power button failed exactly as described by the three previous reviewers. ASUS technical support was inept at solving this issue. I completely agree that the ASUS should provide a fix for this and make these switch replacements immediately available.

We found another computer for that customer.

Other Thoughts: The switch soldering technique interferes with the attachment clip stubs on the small switch. This is without a doubt a manufacturing issue and it should be resolved and all owners of this machine contacted to let them know a fix is available.

ASUS failed miserably on this one model.

2 out of 5 eggsKind of disappointing.

Pros: Its an I5 lot of ram and decent price.

Cons: I purchased two of these and the power switch came out of the front cover and would not stay in. It just clips into the front plastic case. It happened to both of them right away. I did not want to send them back because of this but I had to super glue the buttons into the case. I shouldn't have had to do this.

Other Thoughts: I have always been a decent fan of asus but this problem was frustrating especially because it was both of these computers. I know it wasn't difficult t fix but I shouldn't have had to do it.

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely Disappointed

Pros: Newegg customer service and ordering process deserves 4 stars; the CS agent working with me on this order jumped through every hoop within her ability to make my 1st purchase from NewEgg a good experience

Cons: 2 units were ordered back to back because 1st unit arrived defective; 2nd unit also arrived defective; packaging inadequate (should have been a box within a box); manufacturer help line inept and inadequate

Other Thoughts: I have 2 online stores and was in serious need of a new PC immediately. 2 separate units of this model PC had to be ordered back to back with rush shipping because the first unit (which arrived late due to weather) was defective, the ON/OFF button would not work and Newegg CS was kind enough to send a replacement but since they have no Saturday delivery this caused another delay; when the 2nd unit was finally received it would not boot up completely and the manu. helpdesk advised me to shut it down and re-boot; the unit would not turn off at the ON/Off button at which point they advised me to unplug the unit from the outlet; then it would not turn back on again at all. I had to re-pack and deliver both units to the UPS store myself, so after waiting for nearly 2 weeks I still did not have a working computer. This particular manu. was highly recommended over others, but after this experience I decided to order a more expensive, and more reliable, non-Windows unit which thankfully arrived in perfect working condition. (And was double box packaged as you would expect a computer to be.) I am, in fact, writing this review from that PC.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Design of Power Button

Pros: System works great when you can get it to power up.

Cons: Very poor design of the on/off switch. Bought 4 of these for our company based on the Asus name. Big mistake. Out of the 4 systems the power switch has dislodged on two of them (one was actually broken). I'm waiting for the other two to go also. It's a small switch hidden behind the silver colored strip at the top of the case and held in place by a plastic bracket. When the strip is pushed, it pushes the switch out of the bracket and you cannot power up the computer. Called Asus to have them send me a new switch and was informed that I had to ship them the whole system and they had to replace the switch. Unneeded expense and down time over a cheap switch. When the second one came loose I opened the case, removed the bracket and switch, connected them and used a hot glue gun on the back of the switch to hold it in place. I've probably lost my warranty but I'm not wasting more time and money shipping computers back and forth across the country.

Other Thoughts: If I had it to do over I would NOT buy an ASUS system. Very disappointed with the whole experience and that the only way to repair the system was to ship it back to them when it would only cost a couple bucks to mail the switch..
