5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck Chromebox!

Pros: Small size, easily mounts to back of monitor, silent operation, Haswell Celeron dual core processor, Ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth, four USB 3.0 ports, boots up in 5 seconds - shuts down in 1 second, ease of upgrading memory & SSD. An extra 100 GB of Google Drive space for two years (with your current free 15 GB of disk space brings the total to 115 GB).

Cons: Power button has a mushy feel. Mouse sensitivity settings could be improved. Impossible to find the Asus Chromebox wireless keyboard & mouse unless you spend > $200 more on the i3 model. I use Dashlane password manager, but it does not support ChromeOS (not the fault of this Asus Chromebox). I have to export my password list to an Excel spreadsheet, open it in a Chrome tab then copy/paste my user ID's & passwords. Dumb, but it works.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't be more happier with this little Chromebox except for the lack of Dashlane support (come on Dashlane, make a ChromeOS version)! It's lightning fast and gets the job done. School yourself first to make sure this is right for you. If you spend most of your time in a web browser then this is perfect! I'm using an iclever bluetooth keyboard, HP X7500 bluetooth mouse, Creative D80 bluetooth speaker, & Asus VS247H-P monitor via HDMI. I also have a Synology NAS to store files so I don't even need to use the USB ports, but it is nice that they are there to attach an external hard drive or thumb drive if needed.

I added an extra stick of RAM to double the memory from 2 GB to 4 GB for just under twenty dollars. That gives me a little more breathing room. You can go up to 8 GB if you want/need to open more than 20 tabs. The Celeron CPU is good enough for 1080p streaming, but will not do 4K. If that's what you're in to then go for the core i3 model. The 16 GB SSD seems really small, but really you don't need anything larger. This is not running a bloated Windows OS! And it's not too difficult to add a larger SSD if you want.

If you love constantly updating drivers, dealing with registry errors, running antivirus software, persistent crashes & blue screens of death, always looking forward to Patch Tuesday, having to re-install Windows on a yearly basis because it runs too slow, then this Chromebox is not for you! But if you're sick & tired like me of dealing with all that nonsense, then switch to this Chromebox. You won't be sorry!

3 out of 5 eggsUSB ports went out

Pros: Awesome little desktop computer. Great for surfing the web and online music streaming. Fast start up and quick shut down.

Cons: USB ports went out after a month.

Other Thoughts: If the USB ports didn't go out, I would of gave this a 5 start.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Fast, efficient, no overhead.

Cons: My only con so far would be that I cannot use Synergy with the Chrome OS.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Chromebox. This is great for surfing the web and pretty safe.

4 out of 5 eggsRear USB Ports Failing

Pros: Inexpensive. Easy to use, drives 2 monitors, reliable wi-fi, quiet operation. Works well as a family web browser machine; have also used occasionally for cloud development.

Cons: After about 2 months of use, the rear USB port the keyboard was attached to failed. Moved to the front and has been working OK. After about 3 months of use, the rear USB port the mouse is attached to is now intermittent. Moved to the remaining front USB, works OK. However, I don't know how long the front ports will last! Probably time to send it in for replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsLove Chromebox

Pros: Excellent system... small, fast, cheap, and quiet. Has pretty much everything you need if all you do is use the Chrome browser. Excellent for dummy terminals. We just purchased a few more and use them on large televisions to display information. Even comes with a mount for your TV.

Cons: No Keyboard / Mouse

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing PC

Pros: We cut the cable years ago and were using a laptop to stream or play downloaded content. This was the perfect replacement for us. Easy to use, lightning fast, completely reliable, and immune to malware / viruses. I tried out the various office applications and they were fine. Also has a great child lock.

Cons: Limited storage space, but easily fixed with USB storage or separate drive. Only games are extensions (Quake, Angry Birds, etc). Perfect for our purposes, but you need to consider what you want to use it for.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Plays video like I wanted it to. This is going to hook up to my girlfriends tv so that we can watch home movies and stuff. The external hard drive I bought to go along with this works just fine. Replacement for the roku that she has. Is able to surf the web and watch youtube videos as well as other stuff.

Cons: Needs to have apps that run like off of windows but does the job just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: great product does everything as advertised. Unless you have some specific software needs, the google universe does just fine. I have had a Samsung Chromebook for almost 2 years, and is as solid as the day I bought it.

Cons: none so far minor....a cloud ready printer makes the print set up easy.( a non cloud printer is a little more of a pain but works.)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat device for people who only use a web browser

Pros: Inexpensive solution for my grandparents who need to use GMail and view email attachments of photos and videos of their grand kids. There's nothing to go wrong on the device - it just works.

Cons: You can't plug a printer directly into the device - you need to use Google Cloud Print whereby you access a printer that is shared using another computer (with Chrome installed) on the network. For people without other computers, you'll need to buy a Google Cloud Print enabled printer ($50 for a cheap one) or get an adapter (about $150) for an existing printer.

Other Thoughts: Do your research before buying, and understand that this will not run desktop apps. There is no Skype, but Google Hangouts will easily replace it.
