2 out of 5 eggsSo so

Pros: nice and small

Cons: turns on by itself, won't boot at all

Other Thoughts: I have had this device for about 4 months now and I'm not impressed. It does it's work but it takes fumbling around with it to get it started: unplug, plug back in, see if it works, that doesn't give me a confident feeling. Now it's won't turn off. Childish issues a computer like this should have.

5 out of 5 eggsnice little worker

Pros: I deliberately waited a bit before writing this review. New equipment always works nice in the beginning. This desktop is still running smoothly as ever and I like it a lot. The size is big asset, not the big bulky things on your desk any more! I am considering purchasing a second one. You can hear it of course but it's very acceptable. This is def a 'buy' for me!

Cons: It needs some time before you can turn it on. If you disconnect it from the outlet (like I did to save money) it needs a minute before you can start it up

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for my environment.

Pros: Small footprint, ideal for the microscopic offices I put these into.

Cons: System is definitely speedier with an SSD.
There's an occasional power issue with these systems (see Bottom Line).

Other Thoughts: I purchased 20 of these systems over the past year strictly for RDP. I have retrofitted them with Win7. They work impressively, delivering just the horsepower I need, the network speed my environment requires, and so far have been largely reliable.

There is a power issue that Asus identified. If the system will not start, you should hold the power button, then remove the power brick from the device. Keep holding the power button for 45 seconds to a minute to drain the capacitors. Then release, plug the power brick back in and it should power on with no problem. Happened to me a couple of times but not a frequent occurrence.

2 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: These boxes are cheap

Cons: Poor construction and/or manufacturing. I bought two and one of them immediately wouldn't start. There is something with the power supply or power button or whatever. The other one worked but is now starting to show the same problems.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small with a slick form factor. Optical out is very useful depending on your home theatre setup.

Cons: Computer is quite slow, it would benefit from a ssd drive. My atom based fanless Chinese htpc is actually much faster then this because it uses emmc memory instead of a slow 5400 rpm hard drive.

After 4 months mine developed an extremely annoying crunching sound caused by a bad fan. Because of this I am no longer able to use it as a htpc which was its intended purpose.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I'm glad that you like the slick design and small form-factor on the unit. If you are experiencing slow system performance, please try to install all recommended WINDOWS Update before using the unit in order to improve system stability and performance. If you started hearing excessive noise from the fan, I recommend sending it in for service. ASUS provides warranty coverage for the unit. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150440318 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: CHEAP

Cons: CHEAPLY MADE

Other Thoughts: I had this VivoPc for 4 month until it started to have boot up problems. I contacted ASUS and started a 2 month email troubleshooting process, which finally ended in them wanting me to RMA it. After the VivoPC would not started at all. They would not send me a shipping label so I had to spend $25.00 to ship it. After a month I finally got it back today, and it does not start up. The VivoPC has the exact same issue, the repair paperwork says that they replaced the power switch. Yet it seems like Asus never even touched it. Also I just noticed that the VivoPc is now scratched in several spots, it is very dirty with black and brown flakes all over it (I had to blow the flakes out of the ports) and has some kind of sticky residue on the top as if someone spilled soda on it. I just contacted ASUS customer service again, and I was told to call back in 5-6 hours because there RMA system is down. I have owned 3 Asus laptops, 2 tablet, and this is my first VivoPC, and have not had an experience this bad with any of them. This has made me reconsider ever doing business with Asus again.

P.S. It was sent to the Milpitas, Ca. repair center

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Mike,

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. If the unit is still not working properly after receiving it back from service, please provide more information and I would be more than glad to resolve the issue even if this requires sending it back for service. Please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150387737 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsThird follow up review

Pros: Nada. None.

Cons: After sending it back to Asus a third time, they finally replaced the unit with a reconditioned, same model. That one lasted 2 whole weeks before turning into a paper weight. These are lemons from Asus, and I give up. I have wasted too much time and frustration with this, it's not worth the effort. I concede defeat.

Other Thoughts: It's a real piece of %@!*.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We fully stand behind our products and do take customer service very seriously. If you are still having ongoing issues with the unit and need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150354830 on the subject line.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money on this piece of junk

Pros: Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. The unit had problem with power button or power supply. I had to unplug/replug adapter in order for the unit to booth up. I don’t think there any issue with the power adapter. I test it with my ASUS laptop and it power up. It’s got to be some issue with the motherboard. I believe ASUS Company aware of this issue? I hear a lot of people complain about this issue on the web.

Cons: ASUS please put a recall on this produce. It is a piece of junk. It's doesn't work.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small, low power, performs the required task (convenience store bill pay service).

Cons: Windows.

It came preloaded with vosteran malware. That carp made me answer the same 15 questions 10 times before I could DL and install MBAM to get rid of it. I was about ready to use it for target practice. I wasted an entire day getting it to perform its simple task.

Other Thoughts: Newegg should subject this reseller to a lot of extra scrutiny. No reputable, competent, and certified refurbisher would ship a system with malware preloaded.

3 out of 5 eggsinteresting, but check carefully

Pros: Small package, easy to fit into crowded desk/office. Inexpensive. Had USB 3 in addition to USB 2.

Cons: My unit had faulty power supply, noisy fan (louder than display model), and booted up with flaky video about 7% of the time. Power supply problem resulted in inability to awake/power-on by pressing button, had to unplug/replug adapter to wake up (not all the time, about 50%) Google showed others with similar problem.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to like this. Between the power problems and odd sporadic slowdown (I'd type 30 characters in a DOS command box, and see 15 ... and 5 seconds later the rest would appear ... hardware? or Windows 8.1?), I returned it.

If I could pick from units at the store, and test them there, I'd be happy to get another one.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sieler,

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. I understand that you have issue with the unit and I want to help you with this issue. If you can please provide me with the serial number of the unit and email it to me at customerloyalty@asus.com and put case # N150219814 in the subject line for your reference.

ASUS Customer Loyalty are dedicated in helping you and all other ASUS customers.

Thank you for choosing ASUS.
