2 out of 5 eggsWhere is the VGA to HDMI cable?

Pros: because of not including a VGA to HDMI cable for connecting monitor to Desktop I could not use my system for 2 day! it is only 5$ extra to include that cable!!! Asus Inc don't be stingy please!

Cons: because of not including a VGA to HDMI cable for connecting monitor to Desktop I could not use my system for 2 day! it is only 5$ extra to include that cable!!! Asus Inc don't be stingy please!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Reza,

The product was not advertised having a VGA to a HDMI video adapter. If you are using a monitor with only a HDMI port available, you can connect the monitor directly to the HDMI port on the unit, no need to use a video adapter. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than glad to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Regards,

Rodel

2 out of 5 eggsSomething was messed up.

Pros: It works well, plays games on highest quality.

Cons: But it's supposed to have 1TB of hard drive, where as my desktop only has 149GB of space total. Literally almost 1/10th of what it's supposed to have.

Other Thoughts: Quadruple check that everything is how it's supposed to be.

2 out of 5 eggsCannot detect Headphones

Pros: It's fast, basically true to the description

Cons: I bought this desktop on 5/22/2015. All the sudden around mid June, it can no longer detect my headphones. I have contacted Asus and did everything their tech support told me to do, they still couldn't fix it. I can't believe within a month something like this happened.

I also need this desktop to work at home ( commissions and work), so I can't really afford to send it back and be computerless for at least a week. I asked the Asus customer service if I can get a replacement sent to me as soon as I send this back and give them the tracking number, they did not want to do so.

I wish I bought a different computer now. I am very disappointed in Asus's policy and their desktop quality.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Linlin,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. We are sorry to hear your experience with the desktops headphone. Have you tried using the a different headphone before just to check if is really not working? regarding the replacement the repair center is the one deciding about replacement because their priority is too repair the unit first then if they can no longer repair the unit a replacement will be offered to the customer, if there is anything else that I can help or assist you wtih, please email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and place the case#N150706576 in the subject line for reference.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

1 out of 5 eggsRefund

Pros: Worked fine for 24 hours

Cons: The video card quit after 24 hours

Other Thoughts: ASUS used to be a good company but from the number of complaints here that is no longer true.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear David,

I apologize if the unit failed to bootup with no video after 24 hours. If you are not getting any video, please make sure the unit is not in standby or sleep mode. If this is the case, you need to press and hold down the power button to wake it up or to shut it down completely. Should you need further technical assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150626381 on the subject line.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective motherboard

Pros: It arrived.

Cons: I powered it up and got a message that the boot device cannot be found. In BIOS the only option for a boot device was the DVD drive, nothing about a hard drive. ASUS support told me it is a defective motherboard.

I hope Newgg's customer service for returns is good. I'll try to update this review as the return process continues.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Peter,

I'm sorry if the desktop is not working properly upon arrival. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, the BIOS not detecting a bootable device or hardrive is an isolated case. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150575058 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsIf only it did not have windows 8.1

Pros: I have had many types of computers over the years, starting when they did not come standard with a hard drive. To much more advanced technology. I've had both windows based and Apple. After the death of my mothers Dell (which I was using for a while) I didn't have a big budget. But I always make sure the system has 16GB Ram, good graphics (at least 2GB) a nice 8gb cache and good speed. Having 3.0 USB ports at the front also helps. What sold me on ASUS besides its reputation, was the power supply. The Dell had all the bells and whistles but poor power supply so not only did the hard drive burn out but so did the graphics card and it took the motherboard down with it. I can't see having a that issue with this ASUS. I hesitated due to poor reviews here and didn't want a big CPU (I was used to a laptop and the Dell was a monster) but I found a good monitor here and went for it. Everything set up smooth, it runs quiet, and so far no hardware issues to speak of. I highly suggest the ASUS MX259H 25" IPS (in plane switching) LED monitor to go with it, it completes the package nicely.

Cons: As for cons my main hesitation was windows 8.1 and while the hardware functions great windows 8.1 makes me want an apple operating system. My last windows PC ran windows 7. I preferred more control over my windows environment, I had more control with the Mac than this. So many bugs it's strongly irritating and I'm fairly used to getting around a computer. But not this. They should have left the apps to touch screen applications. While yes it's interesting, to me in a traditional desktop setup with a keyboard and mouse, it's just messy and useless.

Other Thoughts: I was promised that I would get a upgrade to windows 10 for free on its release. I only hope it's worth it. ASUS is worth it but windows has gone down hill in this arena. If I had the budget I would have gone for a nice Mac all in one. But for the price this is an excellent value. The 3GB graphics, and best power supply out there in a prebuilt PC that is,mare worth it then add on 16GB RAM with i7 processor and 8mb cache. It's value. I did a lot of research and small form factor computers can be appealing but just don't offer what this does and at a heftier price tag.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Quality

Pros: ASUS brand name. Computers: It's what they do best! I've always bought ASUS motherboards and graphic cards and have not been disappointed. ASUS is a trusted and proven company that knows their stuff. I play GTA V (with upgraded power supply and Nvidia 970 graphics card) at full 1080 resolution and it runs smooth! This system has so much potential if you are willing to upgrade a few parts.

Cons: Weak power supply. Do yourself a favor and swap out the power supply for something better. I put in a 700 watt to support a Nvidia 970 graphics card. The power supply that comes with this system doesn't even support the right inputs for newer graphic cards (8 pin), so prepare yourself to upgrade it.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade the power supply and graphics card and you'll have a BEAST of a gaming machine!

4 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: For the price (was on sale when purchased), it was a very good value. Everything works out of the box so far, and have encountered no issues. Fast computer with decent GPU.

Cons: The GTX 760 include is actually a 192-bit version, making it significantly less powerful than you would think. It's more comparable with a GTX 660, which is still powerful enough for playing pretty much any game on high settings.

2 out of 5 eggsStupid sticker

Pros: Almost everything works as it should.

Cons: What does not work is the HDMI connector for the video card. I am assuming it has come unplugged, but ASUS, in their infinite wisdom, placed a tamper proof sticker on the case. So, just because a cable may have come loose, it may have to be returned. A tip to ASUS, stop putting the sticker on the case, or stick to motherboards.

Other Thoughts: Proof engineers are insane.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Trixter,

I apologize if you are not getting video signal out using the HDMI port. Please verify if the cable is connected properly from the port on the unit to the input port of the external monitor. Also, please verify i f the cable and monitor are working properly and connected to a known good AC source. Should you need further technical assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150429701 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.
