5 out of 5 eggsnice size box with top processor (FX-8300 with heat sink and fan)) and discrete 1GB video card (Radeon R5)

Pros: i chose this box over the M32BC because of the 4 front panel USB, i need them easily accessed (i use wired keyboard and mouse, add printer, external HDD and all the back panel USB2 are used up)...but i have 1 TB less HDD in exchange. various items will charge without turning power on, nice. i am not a gamer or power user though i do edit videos, this combo is (fast) really up to the task, much more so than my previous machine. the processor, power supply and case fans are very quiet. fits nicely and easily under my desk.

Cons: bloatware is measured in truckloads. when i started the machine there was approx 750GB free space. the first thing i did was an upgrade to and clean install of Windows 10, after which i had 930GB free space. see what i mean?

really bugged i can't open the box for a year without voiding the warranty, so far the machine has been up for anything i do, but i would like to add memory. i know i will be needing it for future video tasks.

Other Thoughts: i'm very happy with this machine, video editing can take a lot of processing power, this machine does it without the slightest complaint. getting it at $419 made me even happier!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear John,

It's great to know that you are satisfied with the desktop. I do understand your concern regarding the warranty coverage of the product. If you open the cover, we will still honor the warranty, as long as no physical or customer induced damage will occur during the hardware upgrade process. If you still have questions or concern regarding the warranty coverage of the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than glad to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsFast, quiet, good value for the money.

Pros: The unit is very fast, not too much bloatware, and well made. I like the front USB 2 and 3 ports. The fans are very quiet. It was nice that they included a mouse and keyboard also. The new BIOS has a nice graphic design and very easy to "tweak". Definitely a great value for the money.

Cons: The BIGGEST complaint is that if you open it up, you void the warrantee. I have been building systems for years, mainly using Asus motherboards. Why is it still under warrantee when you have more of a chance installing your own CPU, power, memory and other devices but you can't peek inside a system that was already built? Makes no sense. When I first plugged in the unit and turned the power on, there was a LOUD POP! It scared me to death. I thought the power supply blew up or something was fried. Amazingly, all was well. However, I am very concerned that there may be a loose wire or something that can short out at any time. BUT, I can't even look inside to see if the problem is minor or not and I don't want to send it back since it seems to be working fine. That also means that for a year I can't upgrade the memory, add another drive or anything without voiding the warrantee. Frustrating! Fine for a novice but not for any power user or hobbyist.

The included mouse is fine but the keyboard is terrible. The letters on the keys are so light that other than in very bright light, unless you are a great typist, you can't see any of the letters. Will be replacing that soon.

The power supply is only rated at 300 watts. So far, no problem but, again, if I could open up the case, I would change it.

I like the case design but am missing a hard drive activity light. I always like to know if something is going on so I know if there is a problem or not or to be patient while it is performing some background activity.

Other Thoughts: If you are satisfied with the specs as-is, then I would definitely recommend it. If you want the ability to upgrade it, then stay away.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Peter,

It's great to know that you find the desktop fast, quiet and a good value for the money. I certainly understand your concern regarding the warranty coverage for the product. It does void warranty coverage when the case was opened. However, as long as the unit remains in its original state or condition, without any physical damage during the hardware upgrade, ASUS will honor the warranty. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than glad to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Review

Pros: Changing my review.

The customer was thrilled with the machine. This machine would cost over 700.00 dollars to build from scratch. Always loved Asus products. Motherboard are the best. Solid machine. Very fast.No probems upgrading to Windows 10.

Cons: Just would not read my disk director 12 disk on the boot up. Read my Windows 10 DVD, My Flash Media, Read my Disk Director 12 on my 2 other Asus machines 1 was using a similar bios.

Other Thoughts: The C partition needs to be larger coming out of the box. 160 gigs is not big enough.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Frank,

It's great knowing that your customer was thrilled with the machine and thank you for loving ASUS products. I certainly understand your issue not being able to bootup successfully from your disk director disk. Please try to disable secure boot in the BIOS to resolve the bootup related issue. In regards to the storage space, if 160GB is not enough, please try to delete some of the patitions or volumes in Disk Management or try using Cloud Storage or external USB device, to increase storage size. Should you need further technical assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than glad to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat machine But

Pros: Great specs and I got it for a great price plus a free set of head phones. Machine is fully loaded

Cons: The UEFI bios will not see my CD Rom. Tried disabling the uefi bios. Checked all the settings. I will have to call ASUS on Monday. Weird because I have the same bios on one of my other machines and did not have any problems I need to boot to a usb device or a CD Rom due to the small partition size.

Other Thoughts: I do not know why they set the partition to only 160 GB. I need to use Disk Director to change the size but I can not boot to the cd rom. I'm frustrated..any help ASUS?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Frank,

It's good to know that you consider the desktop as a great machine. I apologize if you are having issues detecting your external USB optical drive. Please ensure that it is securely connected to the USB port and the USB cable is working properly. Should you need further assistance resolving the issue, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: Good computer for the money. Not loaded with a bunch of junk ware.

Cons: Maybe not enough USB ports. Not being able to open the case for a year as it will void the warranty is definitely a bummer. Thus I can't add a USB card.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus M52BC-US0005S Deskop FX8300

Pros: Purchased for gaming, photo and video edits, some work. This computer had excellent specifications, processor excellent, memory expandable, PRICE was lower than self-build. Not as much preinstalled software garbage as some.
Needed better power supply immediately, causing overheating, opening case VOIDS warranty. Easy memory upgrade to 24g, power supply, replace video card. GTX460).

Cons: Void warranty by opening case from a known computer accessory manufacturer? These guys are forcing us to shop for the lowest price possible because they don't even respect their own hardware!

Other Thoughts: 1.I started the computer, let it update, then shut it down and installed the power supply. 2.Removed video card, then installed GTX 460, rebooted. 3. Added 1 8g mem, rebooted for recognition, then added 2nd 8g mem. Added cooling.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

The desktop was built to run any applications and games without needing a hardware upgrade. You are correct that opening the case will void warranty coverage. You can do the hardware upgrade at your own discretion. Should you need further assistance regarding the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N150469944 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.
