Nice rig for great price - if you know what you're doing...
- Pros: Great price for the specs; works great* (see other thoughts); Newegg's shipping arrived 1 day *early* even during a busy holiday; I love it! Also iBuyPower has people that answer the phones - what a concept. (My experience with their Tech Support was very good.) I'm not a gamer, but our son tested it with new games on highest settings and was impressed. This machine is *quiet*. I appreciate the abundance of external ports (plenty of USB 2.0, eSATA, even a combo PS2 just in case.) Integrated sound is much improved (compared to my old dual core AMD) and is fine for me. (Already owned nice speakers and a subwoofer, though.) "Windows experience" has high ratings (7.7) - slowest thing now is disc I/O (5.9).
- Cons: Check your components right away. Mine came with a 630watt power supply instead of the 700watt, as advertised. iBuyPower support is only open M-F (however, *people* answer the phone with little or no waiting - awesome!) One of two memory sticks caused crashes (BSOD) - although they passed memory tests initially; iBuyPower is processing an RMA - easy. For me, the one graphics card is fine, although it blocks a PCI slot. Windows 7 product key did not work - had to use phone method. Also, an internal cable (for USB) was jammed under the graphics card - had to re-seat that. Graphics card seems to provide structure for the case (rear panel bows out until card is secured with a screw.)
- Other Thoughts: Always check reviews - and look up all the components. Zoom in on the photos to see motherboard (Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2); search for motherboard specs and approved memory list. When you think you have found memory (or whatever) check with THAT mfg to make sure it's compatible. Found *great* reviews on Core i7 860 - lot of info, if you look. Consensus was to update BIOS (I now have F5); be sure to have latest video drivers. I simply wanted to add a card reader and more memory - but ended up diagnosing problems with original memory sticks. Great machine if you like to tinker. Now that things are "settled" I am very satisfied with this purchase.
Know what you buy!!!
- Pros: Intel i7 860 CPU; Windows 7;
FYI the other components are:Xion 700W ps;A-data AD3U1333B2G9-B memory 2ea;Palit GTS 250 Green 1024M DDR3 256GB VGA;WD Caviar Blue 500GB HDD; Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 micro ATX MB
- Cons: Never forget you get what you pay for!! I wanted to upgrade the hardware and upgrade the machine. The PCI expansion slots on the MB are blocked by the VGA; with some difficulty I added a wireless PCI, but it tiiighttt and blocks the fan on the video card. Guess I can add 2X2G memory if I can find it(so far none of the suppliers have it!)
- Other Thoughts: I'm keeping the PC; no other choice! It's kind of like a putting a Ferrari motor in a VW; fast, but limited! I'm disappointed in IBUYPOWER, expected more; ie., all the above plus had to remove the video card to install the wireless; the SPIDF to VGA cable was routed thru the VGA cover and pulled tight over the vacant PCI slot.

Mistakes happen
- Pros: Pretty colors
- Cons: iBuypowers customer service is hit and miss, but there is something seriously wrong with this desktop. I am fairly certain it is the memory, and they are willing to replace it, as long as I pay for shipping, should it turn out to not be the memory then again I have to send the tower back at my expense to have it replaced. I just underclocked my RAM hopefully that fixes it, but so far it has shut down randomly over 20 times today alone, and I am just about fed up.
Confirming the card is infact the Green card which underperforms the already not so great GTS as it is.
There were a lot of not completely set connections inside the tower fresh out of the box.
- Other Thoughts: I will never buy something from here again until it has reviews and this has definately put a sour taste in my mouth for iBUYPOWER as this is my first experience with them, and likely my last.
Update to my review
- Pros: I wish I could edit existing reviews, but I can't, so I'm posting this separately as an update.
- Cons: As posted by another reviewer, this has a Palit GTS 250 "GREEN" video card, which is NOT the same as a normal GTS 250. The "GREEN" is a low power, LOWER PERFORMANCE version that is downclocked at least 10% overall compared to the "real" GTS 250. It annoys me that IBUYPOWER does these kinds of tricks with part names and numbers, giving you something that is less than what was represented.
Also, the RAM on my 938i system will not run stable at it's advertised speed of 1333. It will only run stable at 1066.
This system is NOT as it is represented in the description. The misleading nature of the product description is not up to Newegg's high standards.
