4 out of 5 eggsCouldn't Be Happier

Pros: I just purchased this computer to replace my aging Core2Quad tower that had long-ago reached a point of no return and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. This tower has the perfect combination of core components.

i7 Gen 4, Z based chipset mobo, GTX 660 vid card, 2TB HDD and a surprisingly nice (clean, modern, minimalistic) case.

I added 2 Cougar case fans and a CoolerMaster CPU cooler to the purchase and everything is running smooth and cool.

CPU runs sub 40°c

Cons: Cons:

1) I dropped 1/2 an egg from my rating for lack of quality control on the build of the machine. The case comes with 2 built-in case fans (1 rear exhaust and 1 front intake). The front intake fan was NOT hooked up when I initially powered it up. Not a big deal because I had to crack the case anyway to add the 2 additional fans and cpu cooler I bought but still..... CyberPower, really?! Check your stuff before you send it out.

2) I dropped another 1/2 egg for core components selection. Not that there is anything wrong with the ones chosen to put this build together but I think they could have done better.

- CPU Cooling: Stock CPU fan??? CyberPower should have done better with this. This is a 4th Gen i7 overclockable chip.....give us something here. Include a 3rd party CPU fan or something with this build. Maybe a water cooler or something. Though I got it on sale, the current listed regular price of $1250.....should include some sort of [better than stock] CPU cooling solution. (Hence why I purchased a 3rd party CPU cooler when I bought this rig) - which leads to my other con - The case.

CASE: Though the case is a great design. It's nice, clean, and minimalistic (unlike a lot of the gaudy designs you see nowadays). BE CAREFUL when purchasing a 3rd party CPU cooling solution. The vertical height of the fan is limited to less than 158mm. Anything taller and your out of luck.

The problem this presents is that a VERY LARGE percentage of 120mm Fan based air coolers are larger than the 158mm limit. Hyper 212 EVO - wont fit even though the 212 is pretty much the go-to choice now. I had to settle for a Hyper T4 because of it's shorter profile (152.5 mm tall).

CyberPower - don't get me wrong, it's a nice machine....a really nice machine. But for the asking price of $1250....I think a few small component choices would make this truly a 5-egg worthy purchase and could have still kept it at the same price point.

Other Thoughts: Last thoughts:

I am very pleased with my purchase. Could there have been a better (more thoughtful) choice of core components used to build this product. YES. But for what you get.... [ i7 Gen 4 OC-unlocked chip, Z chipset motherboard, 2TB HDD and GTX660 ]..there's not much that you need to do with this machine out of the box.

I would recommend buying a few case fans for additional ventilation and a 3rd party CPU Cooler. If you go with an air-cooler, RESEARCH your choice.....the case though roomy is shallow for most 120mm air coolers. 158mm or shorter...or you will be out of luck.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier.
