Pros: Fantastic bang for the buck.

Cons: didn't recognize the usb mouse I had, so I had to use the one they provided.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for the sole purpose of upgrading a presentation control PC. All it will be doing is running PowerPoint, showing videos, etc.

Love that this is simple-- just the OS- no bloatware whatsoever.

This thing just works and exceeds my simple needs.

Pros: Great price for what you get. Runs very quiet. Runs fast for what I need.

Cons: The description of the computer clearly stated it comes with a DVD-RW drive. Quote below directly from the product page:

"The DC5850 also comes standard with a DVD-RW drive allowing users to view photos, watch DVDs, play CDs, and burn music, photos, or video to disk in a variety of formats."

Mine arrived with a DVD-ROM drive which was disappointing. I contacted newegg and the response was that they don't guarantee what is stated in the product overview. Since when? I haven't decided whether to return it yet because I imagine a replacement will have the same hardware.

Other Thoughts: Still think newegg is one of the best, but when they sell DVD-RW drives for $15, it's frustrating that they can't replace the drive and deny responsibility for the information stated on their product page.

Pros: Great deal, nice case. Processor is actually a 2.6ghz in the machine I got.

Cons: Annoyingly noisy Samsung hard drive, model number STSHD753LJ.

Other Thoughts: Everything seems to function great, so far. Nice machine for the $$. I like the compact form factor.

But it has an extremely annoying hum that cycles every second or so. Will definitely drive me nuts if I cannot find a way to address this issue.

Google search revealed many other owners of Samsung hard drives report the same noise, cycling in and out every second or so. Some say it can be fixed by better isolating the drive, e.g. silicone grommets, bubble wrap underneath the case, etc. But I'm not happy having to deal with this, especially since other buyers said this machine was so quiet.

If any other users can offer me some help I'd be very grateful!

Other Thoughts: Know what you are getting before buying...

The first thing I did was blow away Win7 HP 32-bit and replaced it with Win7 HP 64-bit -- no special drivers were necessary (but I did download and install them anyway).

I also swapped the DVD drive for a DVD burner.

Note this is SFF, so I am not sure about the availability or price for a bigger power supply or graphics card to play games. This isn't for games at all, so I am not worried.

Overall a good system for the money. "Upgrading" the OS and DVD drive make it a great box.

Pros: I took a chance with a refurbished product and it's been great so far. Don't want to jinx it.

Silent (for me), everything works. It's small and is competent for what I need to do (software developing)

Pros: Got a AMD Athlon 2.6Ghz with 4GB 4x1GB sticks of memory at 800.
Came with a Samsung drive and not a WD as reported by others
Windows rating is 3.5 after quick driver upgrade.

a wipe and reload to 64-bit wouldn't hurt!

Cons: Who is Joy Systems, inc :? they are the listed manufacturer in systems properties.

Other Thoughts: At the $169 with free shipping you cannot build it that cheap! For that price I can barely get an authentic Windows license and maybe the Drive.

Other Thoughts: Purchased as a gift for family member to replace ancient single core 1/2gig system. The performance difference pretty much blew their minds!

Pros: Its a clean fast little machine. Super quiet, and a nice clean inside.

Cons: Only had 2GB of DDR2 Memory, not the advertised 4GB.

Contacted Joy Systems - the company who refurbished and shipped the unit on Newegg's behalf. Company claims to be sending me the missing 2GB of ram.

Other Thoughts: Will Update with results.

Pros: Great deal if everything works!

Cons: If it isn't fixed as advertized refurbished, there is no warranty or tech support. They say there is, but you cannot reach a live person and no one calls you back!

Other Thoughts: On my unit the DVD player does not work and I am out of luck. They give you a number to call and an email, but you get no response.

Pros: This HP box is totally quiet and solid. It has a heavy commercial quality case that is far better than most cases I have bought to build systems from scratch. Just keep in mind it is a little tight for space inside, typical though for minis. Plenty of power for office apps and market charting programs. Supports two monitors out of the box but you can add a low profile video card to change this up. If you don't need the latest hardware buy it! Why not?
I got it for only $169 on special. I figure $100 for the windows license and $69 for the solid hardware. You would pay at least $50 for just a case and PS of this quality.

Cons: These are not cons really, just be aware of them.

Remember the unit has no WiFi built in. I am an old hand at this and that did not occur to me when I ordered one for a remote job site office. No problem though, $10 USB dongle is on the way.

It has four memory slots and I am not sure how much memory it can address. Some sites say 8GB while some say 16GB. If I ever upgrade I will update post. Mine came with 4 x 1GB modules.

It comes with Win7 Home Premium of the 32 bit variety. Remember the 4GB RAM limit with a 32 bit OS. If you have a copy of Win7 64bit laying around you can install it fresh and the serial number provided for the 32 bit version can be used to activate it. So just borrow someones 64bit disk and you are good to go.

Other Thoughts: These units are solid and perfect for stacking so they could be used for an old school server farm, just remember they do not have the latest and greatest CPUs.
