5 out of 5 eggsBest buy of the year

Pros: 99 bucks ... I cant buy a windows pro license for that ...in the box I would swear it was brand new. no none not at all any bloatware ...bought this for my workshop to watch utube videos on how to fix stuff .. its great .. no hdmi or dvi but hey its 99 bucks set up consisted of turning it on putting in your windows numbers and BOOM !!

I still think these are new that someone ordered and returned or canceled then got lost in a warehouse somewhere for 3 years

hell it even came with a copy of Open Office

Free shipping !!!!

Cons: only a DVD reader ... I don't know why this is even worth says ..I mean its 2015 ...but it did make me frown a little .. not enough to pull an egg

ok here it is .. the day after I bought this they raised the price to around $225.. and 45 bucks shipping ... whats up with that newegg ?

Other Thoughts: hey grand ma need a computer .. read emails look at utube cat videos .. post her cat videos on facebook ... this is the ticket

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For a little bit more than the price of a windows 7 key you get a complete system. Granted this system is old, however the core 2 duo is a great processor that's still up to web browsing and internet streaming, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: Biggest issue for me was that the displayport is video only. This means that even with a displayport to HDMI adapter you will not get audio to the tv. I ended up using the VGA output to the tv (thankfully my tv has a vga input) It would have been nice to have an all digital signal to the tv. The picture, and audio still look and sound great. You could always remedy this situation with a cheap low profile HDMI video card.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an ancient P4 2.6gzh that I was using in the bedroom to stream netflix. This system is more than up to the task of basic streaming and video playback. I reformatted and installed win 7 x64 just incase I ever wanted to add more RAM. The product key included activated windows with no issues.

4 out of 5 eggsMy third HP DC7900

Pros: These are really well built business class PCs. They have reasonable computing power and storage and, after buying three of them over the last five years, I've been quite pleased with all of them.

All three came very clean inside and out and fully functional. A excellent system for very little money.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWished I bought more than 2

Pros: This arrived with a disk that lets you install either Windows 7 Professional 32-bit or 64-bit. I purchased 4 GB of additional (used) memory for each computer, swapped out the 160GB SATA HDD for a 500GB Black WD hard drive, swapped out the DVD-ROM drives with CD/DVD-RW drives, and lastly added low profile USB3 PCie-x1 cards. These computers made great gifts for a couple of friends.

Cons: None, I only wish I purchased more than 2. Excellent price and fast Newegg Service.

Other Thoughts: With a WDC hard drive, I was able to download the free WDC Acronis backup software which is an excellent product. As long as you have a WDC hard drive or even an external USB WDC drive, you can use the free WDC Acronis backup software. I also plugged a 6-foot USB3 cable into the USB3 port on the back up the computer and wrapped it around the computer so that it's available from the front.

3 out of 5 eggsjust alright...Bought 2 for work use

Pros: Inexpensive. memory expandable to decent mb. came with windows 7 64bit and 32bit disk

Cons: both had problems!!!!
First both had bad dvd drive right out of the box had to replace before I could even load windows 64bit.
second one has a bad power supply
dust ball tumbleweeds inside needed to be cleaned inside
missing feet.

keyboard and mouse are cheap china would rather had old used HP OEM they went in a box in the storage room unused.

Other Thoughts: Honestly I think all the refurbisher does is wipe the HD reload windows and wipe dust from the outside. In my opinion I do not concider this refurbished refurbished should be gone thru and look like they had pride in their work.

my fault that I didn't try these within the 30 day exchange was too busy to load all of work stuff takes hours and that's when I found out the power supply goes out after it gets warm. I will never buy these again not worth the hassle.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: I got this on a Black Friday deal, I just needed a "beater" PC to run my DVR software.
Added a 2TB Hybrid HD for about the same price as the computer - with monitor, I might add.
I haven't timed the boot time - it's definitely acceptable.
Runs the DVR software just fine - I'm only using about 400BG on it right now. Great PC for the money.
Unfortunately, I ended up having to use it as my main PC, and it does just fine.
Open Office opens up faster with this Hybrid drive than I've seen on new PCs.

Not a bad PC at all for the money.

Cons: It's the same PC I used to have at work.
But - that's not really a "con" - I got it because I knew that they were good - reliable boxes.
I agree with the new car half price comparison.
Yes the keyboard/mouse was cheap, but it's still a good deal, especially since it came with a monitor too!

Other Thoughts: I'm still thinking about adding an SSD like most of the other reviewers have done here.
I'll just leave the 2TB as secondary.

All things considering - good PC.

5 out of 5 eggsNice older W7 PC for the price point

Pros: For the price, hard to beat the HP elite series. I bought the SFF version of DC7900 with the E8400 3.0GHz. My two units arrived VERY quickly! Free shipping, but it only took 3 days! Wow, NewEgg, good job:-) As for DC7900 prods, they seem intact. It is a bit of a grab-bag what you'll get. As refurbs, and with the myriad combinations of how customers originally ordered them and modified them, it is anybody's guess what YOU'LL get when you open your shipping container. One of mine had a single 2GB DDR2 stick (bummer cuz these DC7900 MoBos do much better in dual channel, so I'll plan to modify that one by adding another matching stick of RAM). Read all the other users comments about SFF so you won't be shocked about limited upgradeability of them. I don't plan to mod these so I'm comfy with how they are configured except RAM...go dual channel to get best perf! Mine were both clean as a whistle inside and exteriors looked pretty good, too. One box had not been fully through the refurb steps and I had to "Seal to OOBE" on my own with guidance from U.S. Micro and NewEgg. Easy enough...now both boxes fire right up and NO bloatware!!! (Win7 Pro 32bit). Did NOT get the OEM Win7Pro 32 and 64bit disks that some have reported getting. YMMV there, but no big deal to make my own ISOs from digitalriver if I ever want to re-image to 64bit. VERY QUIET boxes--especially compared to my 10y/o vprMatrix Deskside PC that's still running strong, and LOUD, with XP Pro. This quiet will almost be hard for me to bear:-) Very pleased. For you who may be considering this SFF variant, do keep looking back at NewEgg site as it comes and goes pretty quick on the inventory side. I waited patiently for about two weeks to see it come back into stock and then pounced. Hopefully they will keep trying to restock these puppies. As a diehard XP user, I'm finally making the jump to something that has a bit of life left in the MS support timeline. This will do nicely until at least 2020:-) Enjoy if you get lucky enough to buy one at this reasonable price (OEM license alone worth the price and can be used with either the 32bit or 64bit image). LOTS of info and resources/downloads on this PC series on HP support website which is a big plus, especially if you plan to reimage to 64bit. The units shipped to me in excellent/beefy shipping containers and were well padded with customer-fit foam end-caps. I'm even saving these boxes they are so nice in case I move the PCs in the future.

Cons: Might be cool if NewEgg and supplier(s) could somehow make a more consistent effort to be sure they ship the boxes with AT LEAST what they are advertising it to include. Though both my units arrived with the advertised hard-drive size (250GB) and RAM GB (2GB), I'm aware of others who's boxes arrive with smaller HDs or less RAM. This could probably be improved upon by supplier. I understand they are refurbs, but device config minimums should be abided by if they are advertised. OTH, some are DELIGHTED to get MORE than what was advertised, so, on the whole, this isn't causing major pain for most buyers, I suspect. Mine, for example, both had the Parallel port option included, which for me is a plus since I'm still using the old reliable behometh LaserJet 4Plus that works great on parallel port with Windows 7!!! You just don't know what extra goodies you might get lucky and receive...YMMV

Other Thoughts: Really an interesting box for those looking to make an inexpensive HTPC or leap from an old XP box long in the tooth. Very quiet and pretty small, though not the smallest in the Elite series.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's OK

Pros: cheep, albiet not that compact HTPC

Cons: has its limitations

Other Thoughts: This is my 2'nd DC7900 refurb. This one was not as clean, came with no CD's and Win 7 32bit installed. I did a clean install onto an SSD with winpro 64bit CD from my last order (or you can digitalriver it for free) and it validated with key on the case. It had a noisy dust encrusted ADDA fan which I replaced w/ Foxconn PV902512PSPF 0D ($9 new), replaced the 250GB drive with Samsung 2TB 3Gb/s drive (6Gb/s sata drives are incompatible and don't show up waking from sleep, HP has an alert re this Document ID: c02711513). Added powercolor 6450 ($10 a/r), USB 3.0 PCI card ($9 sale), 2 x 2GB pc 6400 ram ($30 used eebay), it came with 2 x 1 gb 5300 which were incompatible, my first DC7900 refurb had 2 x 1GB compatible 6400 speed ram and it was an extremely clean computer inside and out, so luck of the draw.

5 out of 5 eggs$130 well worth it

Pros: Intel Core2Duo processor is faster than most AMD processors, including current ones. The system is incredibly responsive -- ESPECIALLY after installing an SSD hard drive.

It originally came with Windows Vista, but as part of the refurbishment process, they installed Windows 7 32bit. What they didn't mention is that it COMES WITH CDs and a product key for both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit. NICE!

Another PLEASANT SURPRISE is that the desktop actually has a speaker inside of it. Obviously it's nowhere as nice as a new desktop speaker set, but if you don't use your computer for music, then it's very convenient.

Cons: Hmmmm, for $130, the only things that were kind of negative (cheap keyboard/mouse; only 2GB RAM) are pretty dumb to mention. It's like someone giving you a new car for half price but it's blue instead of red. How can you really complain about that?

Other Thoughts: I bought a brand new Kingston V300 120GB solid state hard drive (SSD) for $65 and installed it in this computer. I also added 2GB of old RAM I had laying around (or you can buy 2GB for $20 online) I then installed Windows 7-64bit. The system boots all the way to the desktop in 11 seconds. It's really responsive
