5 out of 5 eggsGood cheap PC for parents

Pros: Inexpensive,
Recent version of Windows,
Compatible with most current accessories.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I needed an easy replacement PC for my parents' aging Windows XP model which was having trouble with newer drivers. All my parents do is check email and browse the web a little, so this fit the bill nicely. It's been running well since Christmas 2013 and is speedy enough for what they do.

5 out of 5 eggs...great HTPC foundation

Pros: Great and inexpensive foundation for my bedroom home theater PC (HTPC). The Intel Q45 has Integrated GMA X4500 graphics, and the integrated DisplayPort++ can be converted to HDMI with an adapter cable (from Newegg) which makes it sufficient to easily drive my 720p Samsung HDTV and Dolby 5.1 surround...

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: I did some tweaking to make it a *real* HTPC: a DisplayPort++ to HDMI converter cable to match up to my HCTV, a 2TB HDD for *lots* of video (yep there's enough room in the small form factor case for a second hard drive, and an additional 2 Gig RAM, and a low profile tuner card... for less than $300 I have one powerful HTPC...

5 out of 5 eggsGood deal for old tech

Pros: This machine came with both Windows 7 pro 32 bit and 64 bit. I don't know if that's always the case, but I appreciated it because I wanted to run 32 bit and be able to use some of my old 32-bit software for XP and prior. One excellent piece of software, PSI-Plot, runs perfectly and it's about 20 years old! New versions of the software would have cost far more than the machine. Clean, fairly fast, new keyboard and mouse. Displayport!

Cons: The display port seems to have problems recognizing my 2560x1400 monitor. I have to turn the monitor on and off after bootup, then it's fine. I may buy a separate video card. For the moment I'm using an external video card with displayport, which works. Boot up takes a good two minutes. I'm planning to switch to an SSD drive. It should fly with that--I noticed that getting a fast corsair SSD (neutron) makes my old Macbook pro 2.4ghz blazing fast.

Other Thoughts: My complaints are minor. At the typical price points this is sold at lately (114-136) it's a great office machine. As another writer mentioned, it's like buying Windows 7 and having a basic office computer thrown in!

5 out of 5 eggsGood price for a fully-functional computer with Windows 7 Pro

Pros: My unit came with one long scratch on top and one dust bunny hiding inside the CPU cooling shroud.

All of the following ports and slots worked: 6 USB, DisplayPort, VGA, PCIe v1.1 x16.

Reasonable Windows Experience numbers:
CPU 6.5 (0.1 higher than a Sandy Bridge Celeron G530)
RAM 5.5
Aero 4.3
3D 4.5 (improved from 3.5 by installing latest video driver)
HD 5.9 provides drivers for this computer.

Cons: At this price there are only nitpicking cons.

In a quiet office, the CPU fan is audible but not bad-sounding.

It needs more pricy DDR2 PC6400 RAM, but my IT department at work can get it from obsoleted/discarded computers.

Other Thoughts: Comes with both 32- and 64-bit Windows 7 disks. 32-bit Windows was installed. Installing 64-bit Windows took over 200 service patches, even though the Windows disk included service pack 1.

Added a low profile video card and my kids can play minecraft at high visual settings with no lag.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, functional, reliable.

Cons: Condition varies wildly.

Other Thoughts: I work for a school district in Southern California, and in preparation for the state's new standardized testing, we've been replacing computer labs which were mostly nComputing devices with these computers.

Over the course of the last 4 months, I've deployed 1,000+ of these units in 16 sites across the district.

Of that 1,000+ that I've deployed, maybe 5 have been bad off the pallets.

Good units for a good price if you just need a no-nonsense computer that'll last for a while wherever you put it.

1 out of 5 eggsOver 33000 hours 36 bad sectors

Pros: small form factor - manufactured for vista

Cons: Disgustingly dirty interior, failing hard drive,

Other Thoughts: CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!! Not worth the time to mess with - probly the reason it was on sale, but really!!!How stupid do you think people are? SMART reports a failing drive...they knew before they sold it!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy @ ~$125

Pros: Good condition for a Grade B, Packaged well, had proper memory and processor. All drives are sata. Everything runs quiet, a simple blowout for dust bunnies was all it needed. Also came pre-installed with windows 7 x64 and a few other key software's plus windows backup discs for both x86 & x64. For an upgrade from a Pentium 4 Celeron to this for the price is 'sick'.

Cons: See below, none really.

Other Thoughts: Started as a slight Con: Came with a 'not-so-hot' dvd drive. Had to bang on the case to get it to open. I called the number referenced in the mailing slips, left a message, they called back an hour or so later, and within 5 minutes they were sending me a 'new' DVD drive. I expected a used one in better condition but it appears I instead actually received a new one. Con rectified. Very Pleased.

1 out of 5 eggsBad!!!

Pros: None.

Cons: Computer would not boot at first. Finally got it to boot after going into setup and setting time and date and then using safe mode. Then it wants a user name and password to access windows, must not have been cleared during 'refurbishing'. So I cannot use the computer at all. Several lose wires in computer. A business card from Wells Fargo in the CD-ROM slot so I guess I know where the computer is from! Maybe I should call the number and ask the guy for his user name and password! CD-ROM still sounds awful (tried to boot with the disk they sent, did nothing). Maybe other things left in there? Really bad computer!

5 out of 5 eggsFour SATA, Great little system

Pros: Very nice board. Powerful E8400 Core2 Duo 3.0 Ghz. Four SATA 2 PCIE 16 one PCIE 1 one PCI. Place and power for second 3.5" HD. Display Port and VGA for two monitors. Plenty of Legacy connections including PS2 for that old mouse or keyboard. Win 7 64 bit Professional included. You could actually use it for a different system and install Linux on this one.

Cons: DDR 2 memory is expensive. The other machines for about $40 more use DDR 3 worth it if you want 8G memory or more. Not the fault of NewEgg so on deduction on stars. Weak not horrible video but place for two cards so not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 Pro makes this system cost almost nothing. It cost me only a few dollars more than just Windows 7. This is a great little system that can support a decent video card and in fact has same power supply as the mid tower cases. With room for two hard drives and a connection for a third and place to put it (not the sata cable) you can have three Hard Drives and the DVD. Though power for the third is not provided so you would need to address that. I used the wires for the floppy converter to SATA power. Set 2.5 SSD on top of 3.5.

5 out of 5 eggsInitial impressions

Pros: Got it today and it's in really good shape! There are only a few minor (minor) scratches on it and it's clean. I haven't set it up yet but I'll update once I do.

Cons: Off brand 667 memory, not the 800 the HP manual specified.

Other Thoughts: I'll probably spend the $60 for a good pair of ddr2-800 2gb ram sticks and clock it to 3.6 and leave it be. It's a garage internet/Pandora PC so graphics don't really matter.
