5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Deal

Pros: Excellent value. The OEM version of Windows 10 Pro cost more than this machine and this machine upgrades to Windows 10, despite no boast about this. Fairly fast (probably not if you're a gamer), case opens easily, quiet, doesn't use a lot of power, small foot-print, lots of USB2 ports (6 in back, 4 in front), mouse & keyboard PS/2 plugins. Was able to easily replace DVD-ROM with Blue-Ray ROM -DVD/CD writer.

Cons: After a few days, got 5 beep POST code. After about 5 on/off cycles, machine came up. Next day, would not come up after a few on/off cycles. Looked this POST code up and indicated memory may need re-seating (among less easily addressed issues - like bad mother board). Re-seated memory and so far so good, but I've only had it about three weeks now. Has VGA & Display port output but does not have HDMI output (can Display Port be converted to HDMI? It seems some can, but I'm not sure if this one can). There is room on motherboard to plug in a few cards such as a graphics card though.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this machine although I'm guessing it would not be suitably fast for a fanatic gamer. I like it so much, I bought a second one (for back up, parts swapping, etc.), and I've still spent less than a brand new desktop. Used the machine to enter this review!

4 out of 5 eggsSome Hints about set up. I would love to give these 5 stars but can't due to CONS.

Pros: Great value. For a little more than you could buy discount OEM Win 7 Profession and 4 gigs for DDR3 you get an elegant machine.
A relatively fast computer for only around $100
Nice compact design. There is room for another 31/2" drive and the cable to power it if you want to expand.
Easy case to work on. Few tools required, Nicely laid out.
Validation was smooth.

Cons: One was DOA. After some work I found it was the power button that had not been seated correctly. Reinstalling that, it now works.
The second machine has a dead DVD and would not load programs with the supplied DVD. DVD showed in BIOS config but not in Windows. Used a DVD from another machine to complete setup and software install.
Overall, these machines were clean, showed a little wear. I was mostly dissatisfied with the fact that after cleaning them up, if the refurbisher had actually tried to boot them up, that the non-functioning power switch and the bad DVD could have been detected.

Other Thoughts: Setup Hints--My two machines had had no Window updates for 10 months. These downloads can take hours. Be patient. BUT most of all make sure your computer power setting aren't set to shut you computer off after 30 minutes of "inactivity" otherwise you will never get through that process.

I would recommend these only to someone who is comfortable with setting up, trouble shooting, and configuring a machine
I have seen some comments by gamers upset because there is no separate video card. If you are gamer, I am not sure why you would be looking at this machine. It is a perfect workstation, home desk computer, or even basic server.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Machine

Pros: Cheap. Performs well, actually quite fast. Silent. VERY clean and professional refurb.

Cons: Not really a con at all but HDD is on the small side, easy to remedy. Also Core 2 Duo does not support hyperthreading. Again, not a real con as you should know that going in.

Other Thoughts: Performs very well. Silent. An excellent office or home PC. With a small addition makes a great HTPC, which is what it is being used for. For the price I paid you can barely buy a Win7Pro license, nevermind a machine with one!

The inside and outside of this machine were pristine - the only dust I could find was on one of the case walls; nothing even in any of the cooling fins or the motherboard itself. No generic replacement parts either, everything appeared to be HP original, except maybe RAM. The included keyboard and mouse are generic but plenty acceptable. Even the packaging was excellent; no Styrofoam but perfectly fitted solid foam (I think it is called EPE). This refurbisher does a great job.

Windows install was clean with a valid no-nonsense, genuine Microsoft Refurbished System key - activated immediately as Genuine. No extraneous software or bloatware of any kind. After updates instantly told me it was ready for Windows 10.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who never had an HTPC before. I popped in an inexpensive XFX One Radeon 5450 (PICe x16) without issue and using Kodi (XBMC) the machine plays everything on up to 1080p with Dolby TrueHD without breaking a sweat. Also purchased a NETIS wireless N card (PCIe x1). Keep in mind the cards must be low profile.

My total spend on this was less than $150. Can't beat that with a stick!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price

Pros: Open up. Wow, no dust inside, look like brand new. I am able to upgrade to Windows 10 with no problem. Small form factor but that is only a negative, has room for second hard drive.

Cons: Need to install extra graphic card to get a good performance.

Other Thoughts: I should order another one if it is available at this low price, but it seems no longer available. Maybe next sale.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Specs are good for the price, on paper.

Cons: Dead on arrival. Had to perform reflow to get this machine past POST.

Other Thoughts: Well, I had a client that needed replace and migrate services ASAP on a dead PC. Nothing uncommon there. Machine showed up as a dud straight out of the box. If you've had to return anything refurbished to the egg, you already know you have to jump through hoops to get an RMA on these products, and then you are going to be waiting a minimum of 2 weeks (more like 3 or 4) to get a replacement. If you are lucky, the replacement won't have problems. They frequently do.

Long story short, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place so I had to bite the bullet on this one due to time constraints. Being in this position again as I ponder the gamble, I felt compelled to share my experience with this product specifically, and egg refurbs in general.

5 out of 5 eggsHp Perfect

Pros: This is a perfect small form PC, fast, great for daily use ( not a gamer), great components for small office setup or home based business. US MICRO is the refurbisher and they are the best because of the service after the sale. I had an Windows activation issue, I called USMicro support, they answered on the second ring, they know exactly what the issue was and resolved it in 5 minutes

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Computer for Basic Task

Pros: Excellent computer for the price! For basic to moderate task, computer handles without problem. Definitely recommend this PC as a living room PC or average student desktop.
Extremely easy to service when needed. Able to access the inside of PC with one lever. Everything inside engineered in a way extremely easy to swap hardware or add hardware.

Cons: Did not like the keyboard or mouse that came with this unit. The keyboard and mouse had a very cheap plastic feel. Definitely recommend using own keyboard/mouse, use this as last resort.

Other Thoughts: Perform better than expected when multi-tasking using CPU intensive applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and Dreamweaver.
Would buy another one for grandparents or older parents since their computation requirement is relatively low.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap machine for web browsing

Pros: Small form factor, cheap price for basic web surfing, includes Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit DVD's.

Cons: No DVD burner

Other Thoughts: Bought this machine for my niece about a week ago so she could do basic web browsing and homework. I didn't notice when I ordered it but there's no DVD burner on it. Not a deal breaker by any means but I thought it was strange since DVDXPPro was pre-loaded. Also has Open Office loaded on it. Not sure when the OS was last updated; I had to install approx. 300 updates to the OS but with high speed Internet, it shouldn't be a real problem for you. If you're looking for a basic machine to surf with with free shipping, you can't go wrong. And thanks New Egg, I received it 2 days after placing my order!

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, better than expected

Pros: Cheap does what I expect it to. light gaming web surfing, steaming.

Cons: due to small form difficult to upgrage

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my kids 7 and 9 years old so it is basically a minecraft machine. I was able to cut down a gtx 630 out of a old laptop, with a little ingenuity, it is in. Kids are able to play games without any issues.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Value for General Use

Pros: Refurbished well done except for some scratches in the case Black paint. Software setup went as expected. Small, quiet, good for everyday use for browsing and email. Good packaging for shipment.

Cons: Item ships with off brand keyboard and mouse that are VERY cheap and flimsey.

Other Thoughts: Bought this unit for my mother whose computing needs are limited. Average value. Will probably have to replace the keyboard and mouse.
