2 out of 5 eggsworked out ok in the end...

Pros: In the end, I got the machine that was advertised, but it took some effort and time. See "other thoughts".

Cons: Questionable 3rd party vendor.

Other Thoughts: First, I want to emphasize that the problems I had were not caused by New Egg, but by their 3rd party partner. The machine that was delivered had 2GB RAM (4GB was advertised), 160GB HD (750GB was advertised) and an R-DVD drive (RW-DVD was advertised). When I called the grouchy customer service person, she agreed to send me the correct RAM, HD, and RW-DVD but I had to RMA the HD and DVD. The whole process took 3.5 weeks to finally receive the machine I paid for.

4 out of 5 eggsGood machine

Pros: Good spec's for what I wanted. Came in a good condition and packaged well. All I had to was boot and enter the windows key and it was good to go mostly.

Cons: Spec list is incorrect on the DVDRW. I received my unit with a plain DVD drive. I thought that might be the case due to other reviews but took the chance anyways.

Other Thoughts: I got this unit as a replacement for my inlaws 11 year old system so I had to buy a few extras. Got a wifi card and modem as well as considering ordering a DVDRW for it as well. I also installed a Nvidia card so they would have an hdmi out for the new monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great, not as pictured

Pros: No OS disc included, but the paperwork mentioned a recovery partition. Mine also came in an entirely different case than the one pictured (short horizontal case like you often see in library computers). Haven't had the time yet to verify that the internals are what were listed. I suppose I'm only doing it because the case looks different. I know the HDD isn't what was listed - mine has a 1TB harddrive instead of 750 MB. Though obviously no complaints there. It's nice and snappy and blessedly empty of unwanted software.

Cons: Case not as pictured (actually a minor issue in my case)

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: The machine seems to have plenty of processing power for the graphics and administrative tasks it does. Nice that it came with a 750 GB hard drive, which I promptly relocated elsewhere and put a smaller one in. Reloading the machine with Win7 using the supplied disks was easy, all drivers were found online easy enough. Package included both 32 and 64 bit install discs.

Nice that is came with a 350 Watt power supply, plenty of RAM and plenty of room for cards and more drives inside, very clean too. It runs very quiet.

Free shipping only took a day or two from my location and was packaged well.

Basic keyboard and mouse are new. Yea! for the added printer port and lots of USB2 ports.

Bios is easy to get to as well as changing start up locations if need be.

Cons: Perhaps the most incorrect was the optical drive which came as a DVD reader. The webpage has it documented as a DVD-RW, not a big deal in my case. (As cheap as they are, I might just put one in) Also, no additional hard drive mounting screws for added HDs; this case has unique mount slots. (though, plenty of screws for optical drives). The included install DVDs have scratches and signs of wear, but are still readable, guess the discs are refurbished too.

Enclosure is a real chore to open and close, but i'm getting the hang of it.

Other Thoughts: It is refurbished, so cosmetically it's not in mint condition. It's big, perhaps biggest tower I've ever used.

Tried changing the bios to allow hardware virtualization for the Windows XP mode in Win7 Pro, but no success. Don't know if it was me or issues with the bios, didn't look for firware update, Win7 reports it as available, but not turned on. I gave up, for now.
