5 out of 5 eggsAmazing price for an amazing computer.

Pros: I was looking to buy something that had enough power for me to hook up my Elgato High Definition Game Recorder as my old Dell just didn't do it. After doing about 3 weeks of research, I saw this HP pop up and after looking at the Specs and seeing the price I just knew it was the one. The HP arrived in like 3 days after it was order, as usual NewEgg was speedy fast. I was nervous of booting up for the first time because of my high expectations. Windows 8 was not new to me as I have it on my laptop so navigating around at first glance was simple. Within minutes I was hooked up to my wifi and blazing thru the internet. The Moment of Truth came and I hooked up my Capture Card from my Xbox360 to the new HP. And I was very relieved that it ran very smooth at 720p and even 1080p with only 2 or so seconds of delay from actual time on the Xbox. I have had absolutely no problems with this being refurbished unit. I typically go for refurbished products rather than new products because the price is usually AT LEAST 50% off. It has been over a month and it is still amazing at the speed of the RAM. I did add 8 more gb's of RAM, however because all the CapCard streaming and movie editing was pushing it to the limits.

Overall, highly recommend.

Cons: NONE.

4 out of 5 eggsNot perfect, but not bad

Pros: USB in this price range is attractive. Couldn't replicate this package with a home build at this price. Unit included a Wi-Fi card installed. With the addition of a 3rd party cllassic shell download, Windows 8 isn't too bad....

Cons: Unit shipped with a corrupt local drive partition, so couldn't created a set of Windows 8 BU discs. Tried to recover, but couldn't put up with the constand check disk at start up so had to reformat.....wonder what else was deleted?

5 out of 5 eggssolid low cost box

Pros: solid, simple, clean box with a quad core cpu snappy enough for business use

Cons: windows 8 out of the box, but only half an hour total to remove bloatware (much less than usual for HP!), install browsers & tools via, and configure to classic desktop

Other Thoughts: as in 7/11/2013 reviewer, mine has a single 8GB dimm (samsung) and microPCI wireless adapter.
HP says only a single HD is possible, but there's plenty of space, SATA & power headers (but modest power supply), just no bracket. I wouldn't game with the graphics, but it drives 2 monitors at once. I'll add a second 8GB dimm and eventually a ssd to make a great home-business box.

5 out of 5 eggsLot of Bang for the Buck

Pros: 1. Quiet
2. Wireless adapter built in. (not shown in NewEgg's specs but visible in the product pictures and on the HP website)
3. One 8 gig dimm instead of Two 4 gig dimms
4. Quad processor.
5. Surprisingly impressive video processor.

Cons: 1. Windows 8
2. Poor fit on the side cover. Maybe that's why it became "refurbished".

5 out of 5 eggsWow !! Nice !!!

Pros: Quad Core processor. Radeon graphics. Good bang for your buck.

Cons: Only thing I can think of is a OS re-install recovery disk would have been nice. But since my last desktop was bought in 2005 I'm not sure if anyone even does that anymore.

Other Thoughts: I’ve had this computer for going on a month now and it’s like night and day. Of course my old desktop is a Dell Dimension 8400 w/ a single core 3Ghz Pentium 4 processor so the difference in speed and power are very noticeable. I do a lot of video and audio processing and this thing powers through it like a hot knife through butter. Compressing DVD files that used to take 20-30 mins is done in 3 mins!! Divx to DVD used to average 20-25 fps on the old comp, on this one 75-100+ fps easy. It also used to consume 100% of my old CPU, barely 30% of this one. Basically tasks that used to take hours is done in less than one.

I bought a laptop earlier this year that came with Win 8 so I was already over my culture shock of learning what I needed about Win 8 to do what I need. I’m not a PC gamer so I believe the Radeon 7560 graphics will be fine for my needs. Video playback is smooth

Overall I’m very happy with my purchase. Newegg did their usual excellent job with fast processing and shipping. If the word Refurbished weren’t printed on the box you’d never know it was. It also didn’t arrive with tons of bloatware. I would easily recommend this machine for anyone needing good speed and power without having to shell out big dough.
