4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: Great PC for a basic workstation!

Low fan noise and minimal LED lights on front panel.

Has single internal speaker for basic sound (mono)

Has restore partition for factory reset/reinstall

Cons: Only 3 internal SATA ports on mobo, two of which are already in use for CDROM and system Hard disk.

Norton AntiVirus "Scareware" popups often, offers 30 days "free". Easily replaced by Microsoft Security Essentials.

Bundled Lenovo system center "Scareware" popups. How often do I really need to scan the hardware on a brand new PC? (can be disabled)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat middle-of-road tower

Pros: Has most of the bells & whistles of a high-end machine at a reasonable price. The 64 bit Dual Core Processor (core i3) & a 3.3 GHz clock flies along at a good clip. 4 GB RAM & a 500 GB hard drive gives you a good start. On-board Ethernet is gigabit

Cons: Would have liked a little meatier PSU, may give you trouble with some hi-end graphics cards.

Other Thoughts: a little bit port-shy. Not really a con, just a sign of the times, so I'm putting it here

+++ Still comes with windows 7!!
Win 8 upgrade license is included, if you dare

I recommend jumping up to at least 8GB RAM, especially if you upgrade to Win 8

4 out of 5 eggsNice computer but...

Pros: Great deal, nice price, nice machine

Cons: Comes with a Windows 8 sticker, no windows 7 license anywhere to be found. When they first arrived I thought they send me the wrong model and call support but when I turned it on it had Windows 7 Pro.
I don't like that there's no license included incase something happens and I have to reinstall the OS.

4 out of 5 eggsNice home office system

Pros: Sturdy, well designed internal layout. Video performance more than adequate for business software. Easy to install either RHEL 6 or Fedora 17 (just remember to change from UEFI to Legacy BIOS mode before trying to boot Linux). Dual core i3 can support 2 virtual machines using kernel mode KVM and 16G RAM, which is just what I needed.

Cons: Default setting is UEFI and Hyperthreading enabled. Have to disable the first to install Linux, the second to allow kernel mode KVM. How long will 16G RAM be enough? Shameful waste of a Windows license on hardware that works so well as a platform for Linux.

Other Thoughts: Actually purchased this locally but will be ordering a 2nd from NewEgg soon. Intention all along was to use as a Linux workstation in the home lab, so Windows lived on it less than a half hour. Separately purchase 16G RAM from NewEgg (AMD special). A little hard to find the setting to kick UEFI into Legacy mode and turn off Hyperthreading. In Setup on Boot menu select Legacy O/S. In Advanced menu double-click to get at settings for UEFI and Hyperthreading.
