5 out of 5 eggsQuick and compact desktop. Great Value!

Pros: Pretty quick little computer. Took seconds to set up, and after installing all of windows updates and AVG antivirus its ready to go!

Cons: For some reason the installed 2GB of ram was not enough. Kept getting error messages that stated the memory was just about full when installing windows updates. Took out the supplied 2x1GB and installed matching 3x1 GB ram and its much better. The rear fan was dusty so I had to clean it from the inside.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my parents to replace a slower older computer. For $99 and Windows 7 its a real deal.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck!

Pros: Got this for my wife.

If you hate Windows 8.0/8.1 like we do and you want a basic desktop for browsing the net, etc;. This is the best bang for your buck. It's very fast with our FIOS connection 75Mbps x's 75Mbps.

A Windows 7 disk cost over $100. So, we got a computer and a fresh version of Windows 7 installed for under $100. You can't beat it.

Cons: NONE!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Pentium Dual Core at 2.0GHz, not a Pentium 4
Available expansion slots: 1x PCI-E x16, 2x PCI-E x1, 1x PCI

Cons: Expansion slots are low-profile (not surprising in this form factor)

Other Thoughts: This computer provides unbeatable value for basic use. The one I have in use as an office computer has been working flawlessly for the two months it's been in service.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: For a ready to go out of the box system under $100, this is a very good machine. Came with keyboard, mouse, and installed software. All I had to do is attach a screen and fire it up, answer the setup questions and go. Small and tight but there is room for a graphics card and another drive. Access to drives bays, power supply, etc is easy access.

Cons: As an older model I thought I would be able to put one of my older harddrives in, but alas only SATA connection so I cannot use my older IDE BAT drives.

The fan under the air shroud was dirty and I had to clean it.

The front panel over the empty drive bay was pushed in. I had to open the box and put the panel back in place.

No bundled software. But, that is ok for me because I don't want what normally comes with stock computers.

5 out of 5 eggsOld school computer that is still relevant

Pros: I brought two of them on special. My family seems happy with them after upgrading the memory to 4 gb and adding a second HD to both computers, WD velociraptor (boot drive). It now plays Minecraft reasonable well and other less graphical demanding games. I only had to buy memory. I had the two WD velocirator drives, 300 and 500 gb, collecting dust. I tweaked it a little by moving the pagefile to the second drive. This seems to help speed it up somewhat. Computers these days are like commodity. It just makes no sense to keep buying new equipment and only to see them become obsolete in no time. If you are a hardcore gamer, then you may need the latest technology. If you just going to do routing stuff, old machines that are less than 5 yrs are still relevant in my humble opinion. I got a great deal and saved lots of $$$$ with these two refurbished desktops.

Cons: One computer only has a DVD ROM drive. The other comes with a DVD RW drive. You can tell these are old machines...one has a huge parallel printer port, nobody uses that anymore.

Other Thoughts: Model: HP - Compaq dc5800 Series
1. Dual CPU at 2 GHz (not Core 2 Duo, this one is a slightly better processor)
2. Memory = 2 gb, 1GBX2, DDR2 DIMM (max 8 gb)
3. HD = 80gb
4. integrated graphics
5. integrated audio
6. front/read audio jacks
7. 6 USB ports (4 back/ 2 front)
8. PCI x1
9. PCI express x1
10. PSU = 230 Watts with one extra w/ extra SATA & floppy power connector
11. DVD ROM or DVD RW
12. Ethernet port, Gbps

Note: There is no Windows 7 CD disk. It is on a hidden partition on the HD. Once you start the computer, it will install Windows 7 automatically. Do not disturb this process like I did. It may corrupt the drive image and may not finish installing Win7. Good thing, I had a second computer. I just cloned the other drive to fix it. Customer service (the company that refurbished it, not NewEGG) is very responsive. They offered to ship me a free replacement drive. I told them it wasn't necessary after I told them that I had purchased two refurbs at the same time of the same brand. The cloning part was my idea. I just wasn't sure if would be able to register it with Microsoft it I cloned the other drive, hence, the reason why I contacted tech support. They reassured me that it would not be able a problem as long I didn't register WIn7 with Microsoft.. Since I didn't, I was able to clone and install it. Both computers are working fine, and my family is happy. So far, I have played You Tube video/movies/MP3's and some games without missing a beat. I surfed the net Chrome with no issues, fast and stable. I recommend it if you are looking for a computer for routine tasks and for occasional less demanding games and if you want to keep your hard earned $$$ in your pocket.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Desktop For The Price

Pros: Nice desktop for the price. The physical condition was very acceptable for a refurb. No problems with the PC. Well worth the price of 79.99 with free shipping. Windows 7 64bit home premium OS.

Cons: Installs windows 7 updates very slowly. But other than thank no complaints.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: The price was right, has no trouble handling Windows 7, seems sturdy, very small. Perfect computer for my parents. No trouble with e-mail, youtube, simple games. Comes with 2GB RAM but has 4 slots, easy to upgrade RAM. I did not since it didn't seem to struggle with having a few screens up while browsing which is the most my parents would ever be doing at one time.

Cons: Not a lot of room in the case. I added a second hard drive and it was very hard to screw it into the slot. The power supply case has little pegs that fit into grooves inside the case. You have to pull back the power supply to get to hard drive and the extra hard drive bay. While working, the power supply came out of it's groove, took me about 20 minutes to get it correctly back in place.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard has 4 sata sockets, not sure where you'd find room to add 4 things inside the case but kind of cool that they're there. My parents had an old Dell that couldn't make the jump from XP to Windows 7. This one does the trick. For what it's worth, the Windows Experience Index is 3.3 out of the box. I forget all the specs but the lowest one was the gaming graphics.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little computer

Pros: Bang for the buck.

Cons: None for the money

Other Thoughts: I bought this as part of a project to upgrade several older relatives XP computers. The 80 GB hard drive is small by today's standards but large for their needs and the needs of many in the real world. I've purchased this same basic model refurbished by 3 different companies thru Newegg. I've had to call all three for minor issues like a missing rubber foot and all 3 have responded quickly. One came with no issues. Even with just 2 GB of RAM these computers are quite zippy. Especially if you turn off one or two visual effect features like fading windows / menus when clicking and just letting them pop up or disappear instantly. Overall I am quite pleased this this computer and so are the recipients.
