3 out of 5 eggsgreat little machine

Pros: It came quickly, easily upgraded (from 2gb to 4gb ram, no problem). Installed a GTX 650 Ti video card playing Crysis 3 on medium settings...great second computer older dual core processor can still kick it!!

Cons: -delivered to my front porch and left there with the box upside down and open on the bottom. Inside the computer had shifted in the packaging and a piece of the keyboard had broken off. The foam packaging was loose and poorly packed. Thankfully the tower was undamaged and booted up no probs. Newegg, talk to your people who pack and deliver these products. The QC is substandard. Two eggs off for very poor delivery service. On this item anyway. Very happy with Newegg's service otherwise.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with this unit for the price I paid. Newegg you have a great service!! Keep up the good work.

4 out of 5 eggsOk for the $$

Pros: Arrived as advertised and with Windows 7 Professional which costs about what the refurb unit cost without the hardware. Inexpensive - and the interior of the case was clean.

Cons: DVD drive arrived non-functional, but after a couple of emails with tech support, they sent another DVD drive which worked just fine. Case arrived with various dings and dents.

Other Thoughts: These are HP computers and thus use Torx screws. . . , ,

After an upgrade to an inexpensive 64GB SSD, this is a very usable computer.

2 out of 5 eggsHP DX2300 Refurb Computer

Pros: It's been a good performer after resolving some out of the box issues. Good for business use. Inside of unit was very clean.

Cons: Out of the box experience not so good.

What I found…

The front top of the chassis was bent near the DVD ROM. There were clipped nylon ties laying inside the chassis, half the motherboard mounting screws were loose, the HD audio connector that goes to the front panel was unplugged, and the motherboard power connector was not fully seated (3/4 way in). Also, there were no screws holding the side panel on (it fell off as I took it out of the box).

The biggest problem I had was a CMOs error (lost settings) on first power up. I checked the battery and that was good. After several failed attempts I put a voltmeter to the battery while it was in the battery holder and found the voltage to be under one volt. The problem ended up being a dirty spring contact in the battery holder. After cleaning, the unit retained its memory.

Other Thoughts: If you're tech oriented and don't mind doing some internal checks or minor repairs on arrival, this may be an okay purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Buy

Pros: Business class computer with easy accessibility, quiet when Win 7 boots.
This refurbished unit has Win 7 Pro 64 installed and has a Win 7 recovery sector. This machine is made for upgrading easily.

Cons: Loud at start up, but does quiet down nicely.
Only has a DVD or CD player, not a recorder

Other Thoughts: This machine can hold up to 4 gigs of RAM (I know, I put it in and it recognizes it well). I put in a second 500 gig hard drive, a DVD-RW/CD-RW, and 4 gigs of RAM. As with any computer, I strongly recommend an image backup (Acronis or EaseUS ToDo) be made prior to any updates (There are 155 MS updates to do) and an image after all updates and regularly thereafter. Who wants to spend hours and hours to reinstall from scratch when an image can be done in 15 minutes??

4 out of 5 eggs1 RAM stick worked

Pros: Cheap, it worked, cost the same as the OS, and it is upgradeable.

Cons: one of the 2 memory sticks was bad, AND they were PC 4200 not PC 5300 like ad says, the company's TS (not NEWEGG) would be happy to replace them IF i sent reciept and Photos of memory, cd key, etc. This was AFTER i went thru their hoops to prove it was 1 bad stick...

Other Thoughts: I upgraded the ram immediately anyway so having a bad stick wasn't really an issue for me. it upgraded no issues to new Video card, it let me upgrade from the LOUD 80g HDD to a 1 TB with no hiccups at all and it came REALLY clean. would definitely buy another if needed

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Price, Price, Price
Mini Tower
Quiet once Windows loads

Cons: 250W PSU w/o Active PFC
2GB RAM max capacity
100+ Windows Updates to preform
80GB HDD only has 50GB available after Win7 installed

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit as a stand-in until I got my gaming system back. I was able to install a Radeon HD 4770 512mb graphics card. The PC should be able to run any PCI Express graphics card that doesn't require a seperate power connection. The box runs older games at medium settings, now.
