The Polk Audio RTi8 floorstand speaker delivers performance and style for an acoustic piece that seamlessly fits any house decor. It features real wood construction with radiant metallic highlights and racing car lines that echo contemporary style. It produces sound that is as beautiful as it looks, from dual 6.5-inch polymer composite cone drivers with rubber surrounds and one 1-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeter. The MDF enclosure also contributes to superb, accurate sound by reducing resonance that may cause cabinet humming. Plus, this speaker is magnetically shielded for less interference with video source, and is equipped with heat sink for quick, efficient heat dissipation.

This model is sold individually.

  • newegg Superb Sound The Polk Audio RTi8 comes equipped with two 6.5" Dynamic Balance polymer composite drivers for smooth wide-range response with low distortion, and one 1" silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnets for clear, detailed highs. The PowerPort bass venting makes for superior clean, low distortion bass that you can really feel. The mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers extend high frequency response, and improve detail and transparency. The Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC Port) technology allows for more natural midrange reproduction. It also features acoustically inert stamped driver basket, and floating anti-diffraction grilles that minimize grille diffraction for spacious, three-dimensional imaging.
  • newegg Anti-Resonance Enclosure Cabinet resonance can ruin the sound of an otherwise well-designed speaker. You don't want to hear your speaker cabinets humming along with the music (they don't even know the words). You want to hear the uncolored sound launched by the drivers and tweeters. The Polk speaker cabinets are meticulously engineered for resonance-free performance. All wood cabinet Polk Audio loudspeakers are constructed of costly low-resonance MDF instead of the cheaper and more resonant particle board used by many competitive speaker brands. RTi Series Speakers feature additional anti-resonance strategies, like asymmetric braces.
  • newegg Magnetic Shielding The magnetic shielding allows for placement near video sources without causing any interference.
  • newegg Solid Connection Dual, bi-ampable gold-plated five-way binding post inputs (with wide holes for large-gauge bare wire connections) enable the most secure connections and the most versatile wiring applications.
  • newegg Other Features This model features heat-sink for superior heat dissipation, and butyl rubber surrounds for high performance durability. Its adjustable leveling feet in an outrigger base provide stability on any type of floors.

5 out of 5 eggsWay better than I expected.

Pros: The Price ! And they look nice and sound way better than I expected. I bought these for my son and daughter in law for Xmas, but just heard them yesterday for the first time. I have Polk's old SD1's so I have a very good reference to say these sounded great.

Cons: Yeah they're out of stock. Anybody know what is the replacement by Polk ?

Other Thoughts: Yes I would.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Start into Quality Audio

Pros: I got these for an extremely low price, Packaging and shipping was eggcellent. Thank You NewEgg!!! These are a great starting point into the world of quality audio. The Polk brand has been relevant in the industry for many years. These Towers do put out a lot of sound given the smaller driver. I attribute that to the cabinet and port design. These are bi-ampable if you have the option and will handle good amounts of power but sound pretty darn good with my lower end 5.1 reciever. Highs are great and Lows are punchy and get lower than I would have guessed before before purchase. Mids are average but with the right tweaking and on a good AVR these will really shine. Bottom line, for the Price, these are Great sounding speakers for music, movies and Games. I picked up two more for the rear surrounds in my great room. They fill the massive volume (+6,000 cu.ft.) of room with great sound. Now I need to Find a Sub to hit low and hard for a room that size. Matched this with a CSi5 center.

Cons: Larger size..but its a Tower and to be expected. Grill is a bit flimsy but serves its purpose. The RTi line has been phase out.
Not a con but the feet/mount they sit on add some width.
I personally like the design of the peg/cone foot. Gives it a good sturdy base

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend these to anyone that wants to take a step or two up in the right direction from the pre-packaged or boxed mediocrity you find at any chain store. Sure you can find ok or good equipment but will pay a premium and choices are limited.
Start doing some research on the forums.

5 out of 5 eggsStunning in all ways.

Pros: These Polk Towers will not disappoint. They come well packaged and out of the box only need a minute or so for assembly of the stabilizer feet. The look is very clean and of high quality and the sound is the same. Clean smooth and tight with perfect bass response. After a few days of use and dozens of albums played they become even more rich. A subwoofer is not needed unless you like ridiculously over amped bass. If you want smooth sound for all types of musinc these will not let you down. They also can handle the power when you feel the need to rattle the walls.

Cons: The only possible con was the stabilizers don't clearly indicate which way to aim them off the sides of the speakers. Just make sure you do both sides to match and I can't see that it matters.

Other Thoughts: There is nothing out there under $500.00 U.S. dollars that compares.

5 out of 5 eggsLove these!

Pros: Nice looking, sturdy construction, sounds awesome.

Cons: Not a fan of the feet on this but is still surprisingly stable on carpet. even with my cats jumping on top of them, they don't even move.

Other Thoughts: I was very impressed right off that bat with these speakers. Currently running these by themselves with no sub, center, or surrounds off of a Yamaha RX-V479 receiver rated at 115 watts. After running these through various music, TV, and movies for about a day (8+hours), it sounds even better already. the midbass seems to have really come out. Can't wait to add a csi a6 center speaker to these. Can't imagine how great it will sound. Music sounds great and movies sound excellent even without a sub (yet). The bass isn't earth shattering but that is to be expected with 6.5" drivers, but it is plenty for most music and will keep me content until I get my sub put together. I would definitely recommend these, especially at $119.99 each on sale!

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive performance and value

Pros: Crisp, highly defined, natural, full range sound from quality speaker components in upscale cabinetry

Cons: Plastic spikes give speakers a somewhat unorthodox appearance, but they look good in real life and do not scratch hard wood floors if reasonable care is taken

Other Thoughts: Newegg provides some great values in speakers, especially for lines that are being discontinued. The RTi8 is an outstanding example. For a modest price (a hard to believe price when on sale), this speaker provides an extremely high level of performance.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Crisp highs, tight bass, no sagging mids. Price.

Cons: Still looking for cons... nope, not yet.

Other Thoughts: Was looking for RTi10's or 12's when i decided on these. I had concerns about the low end of the 8's but have been very pleasantly surprised. Won't shake a room like a good sub but are more than adequate and seem well mated to my 150wpc AVR. Unless you're willing to go to big power and probably separate amps, these are very very sweet. Seriously doubt you could find a better speaker at the $300/pr I paid.

5 out of 5 eggsThese are Great

Pros: I have owned a lot of Polk speakers(M70, M50, M40, M30, RTi10, CSiA6, FXiA6, RTiA3, RTi6 and the RTi8's). These are much more detailed than the M70's and have a warmer more open sound than the RTi10's.

The RTi8 paired with the CSiA6 and FXiA6 surrounds give me a great home theater experience.

Even though my RTi10's have a lot more bass the mid's on these RTi8's sound so much better to me.

If there is any weakness in the sound of these speakers it is the bass. I run them with a sub but often listen to music without the sub and find the bass adequate for my taste.

These don't need tons of power to sound their best. I power these with a Yamaha RX-V773 receiver rated @ 95 watts per channel and am totally satisfied with the sound. I have listened to these on a Yamaha receiver rated @ 70 watts per channel and that was plenty for these.

Cons: Bass may not be enough to satisfy many.

Takes many hours of break-in before they sound their best.

Other Thoughts: Of all the Polk speakers I have owned I like these the best for home theater fronts and for listening to stereo music.

At less than $200 each these are a bargain.
