5 out of 5 eggsThis sub is a beast!

Pros: This sub is a beast! This sub replaced a 12" JBL that I had. The JBL had great reviews was actually heavier than this sub. I have the amp on this set at about half of what the JBL was at and still is noticeably more powerful. There's times when I can feel it vibrating my couch and my Kitchen directly above the Man-cave where the sub is located. I definitely recommend this sub!

Cons: None for me.

4 out of 5 eggsHuge and boomy

Pros: Powerful 12." Would definitely work for a large room. I kept it on the near lowest setting and it provided good lows to work with my Definitive Technology computer speakers. Perfect for movies.

Cons: Do not misunderstand me on this one, the sound quality is not as "sharp" (as some of the other subwoofer designs from DT such as their sealed and passive radiator style), however it would definitely suffice for a home theater system (as it is probably most intended for). It definitely packs a "roar," but there is not as much of the "punch" likely due to the design.

The auto on/off feature is very annoying (for my situation). If you need to keep the sound , it will automatically turn off after a few minutes of playing if the sound is too low. You need to keep the volume up to keep it on. I prefer a hard on/off switch or at least making the auto on/off optional.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get out a measuring tape and look at how massive this box will be. It may be too large for some spaces you may plan on using it in; it is large enough to be a coffee table or ottoman.

Be sure to wait for a sale on this one--you may be disappointed by the audio quality for the price if you don't. The physical quality of DT and most of their speakers are definitely top notch and in many cases better sounding than brands like Bose.

The Powerfield models IN PARTICULAR are not listed anywhere in DT's website, or in the support area or anywhere. Every other subwoofer model from them in the market is listed EXCEPT this series. I find that odd...
