4 out of 5 eggsValue and decent sound

Pros: If you are looking for a good entry level amp with a phono preamp or just looking into starting a vinyl collection this is a good amp to start . It is basic no frills with easy to manage controls delivers a decent sound compared to amps running 350 to 400 dollars. Bought this for a basic turntable set up using a 1970 pioneer turntable through Klipsch K2 speakers and it drives them well. not for use with Video unless you just run stereo sound and no digital or HDMI input/output. Stays cool when powered up. Caught it for 79.95 + 2.99 shipping and received it two days from ordering.

Cons: none so far

4 out of 5 eggsNice product for the price

Pros: Nothing really extra, but sound is great. Using in office to play music thoughout. Multi zone capability, high output (not for the rocker though) for office use. Price to WT is really great

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I recommend for general use without blaring music

5 out of 5 eggsTEAC Stereo Receiver

Pros: I bought this for a friend who needs a receiver to install in a condo complex so the general population can occasionally enjoy soft music. So, for this application, an elaborate surround sound unit is not required, and a simple stereo receiver is sufficient. I checked the unit out of the box, and it appears that there are no functional issues. Everything sounds great. One thing that was not detailed in the instructions, is that if you hook speakers to output "A" but not to "B", you cannot select both sets of speakers or there will be no sound from "A". Apparently, the unit senses whether speakers are connected to both outputs. This could be to prevent amplifier damage due to an open impedance situation. Overall, this unit seems like a very good value for the $80 sale price.

Cons: As with most receivers manufactured during the past couple decades, everything is black in color. There is no visual "pizzazz" like the units built during the 70s and 80s which featured wood, chrome, and brushed aluminum panels. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my personal preference would be to have a little vintage variety in the appearance - which would also result in a control panel that's easier to read.

Other Thoughts: I was pleased, and almost amazed, at the speed with which I received this unit after I ordered it. Also the packaging design precludes any shipping damage.

4 out of 5 eggsTeac Stereo Reciever

Pros: I have recently bought a used pair of Bose 901's , the small set back is that most new A/V recievers cannot accomidate the EQ. The Teac receiver does just that , so finally I get to hear the thrill of the Great Bose 901's and I am really thrilled , for the first time in years I actually just sit back and really enjoy my music . I hate comercials so I like my HD receiver and SiriusXM Sattilite radios

Cons: I have no cons to deal with on this unit the price was right in there as always with Newegg and the product is just as advertised.

4 out of 5 eggsTroglodytes wanting a 2.0 receiver will be happy with this

Pros: Good brand name, time-tested design, two channel stereo, not excessively flashy display. Should be an "old reliable".

Cons: This replaces my old AG-790 which had a weak left channel. I don't know if the same problem will recur, so derated one star.

Other Thoughts: When it became time to replace an old Heathkit stereo receiver the first replacement lasted a few years and then the audio section died. I replaced that with my first AG-790, chosen in part because Teac made good stuff back in the 1960s and 70s. Also in part because the world seemed to be moving to 5.1 systems and other home theater stuff. That weak left channel may have due to a poor connection in one of the (replaceable!) power amps. Swapping boards fixed things for a while.

When I saw this on sale at NewEgg, I figured it was time to replace the old one. Besides, I may have an application for a single channel audio for playing samples of wind turbine noise, so I saved the old one.

I don't know if the Rev E annotation on the label means they improved, changed components based on availability, or cost reduced and cheapened the product, but I hope the past problem was an odd manufacturing defect.
