1 out of 5 eggsNot Worth the Money

Pros: Ease of installation.

Cons: Sub-Woofer has a horrible distorted sound, and Sony's customer service is absolutely horrible!

Other Thoughts: Purchased this product during a Black Friday sale. By the time it was opened and installed (Christmas morning) the local store warranty had expired. So, I had to call Sony. I called on 3 separate occasions ran through the gamete of questions and checks. I was told someone would call me within the next 24 hours. 30 Days later I get a phone call at work asking if I was near the product. I told them no, and he gave me a list of things to troubleshoot and he would call me back the next day. I went home tried all the tests and nothing worked. He called me back 2 days later, I told him nothing had worked, so he gave me more tests to perform (most of them were the same thing as before). Of course nothing worked, and I have never heard back from the technician since. I am extremely disappointed in Sony's customer service. All my electronic products in my house are Sony. I tried hooking the sound bar and sub woofer up to more than one Sony t.v. and still got the same result. The sub woofer sounds blown... I am reluctant to call Sony's customer service line again, because I do not have hours to sit and wait on the phone and then go through all the same tests again. I wish I would have installed it after purchase instead of waiting until Christmas, then this would have been a store problem. Save Your Money and by a Bose!

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with Computers

Pros: Price, ease of installation, quality of sound (when it works) - it does what MOST people buy a sound bar for, but don't plan to use it with a multi-media computer.

Cons: As mentioned, this sound bar will not work with a multi-media computer - I suspect it has to do with the video resolution, even though the computer is fixed at a standard supported format, movies and such can change that resolution based upon the compression format used. This sound bar causes the video to go white and does not recognize the computer input. I tried several ways - one using a 4 port HDMI input (that is what I use so I can switch) between various inputs to the TV - when not using a pre-amplifier. I figured I could use the sound bar. Instead I can only use the analog input for sound (basically the headphone output jack) - no optical out on the TV, and no digital coaxial input on the sound bar. I figured that I would use HDMI - but the video component gets corrupted by the sound bar rather than being passed through.

Other Thoughts: Good for what most people want it for - I tend to push the envelope, but since all it has to do is pull the audio and pass through the video, it SHOULDN'T care about the video and just act as a pass-through - but it does. Interesting, when it is turned off, the computer can drive the monitor/TV some of the time. But if you switch to cable and back, it lose the computer signal, until you power off everything. It's interesting that a little $30 HDMI switch does it right, but the sound bar doesn't.

Bottom line - make sure your TV has either optical output or uses ARC technology. Mine doesn't support ARC so that may fix this issue - not sure since my TV doesn't have that. I never even thought about the video resolution as this is a "sound bar" and thus should only deal with the audio component carried on the HDMI input. But it does something to the video - and it really shouldn't. I wanted to take the pre-amplifier out of the loop, but cannot do it with this sound bar. Sony should do things right, but it didn't on this.

So I use the TV audio headphone output jack to drive the sound bar - really loses most of what I bought it for... So if you are using a computer to drive your TV/monitor for multi-media input - don't plan on using the HDMI as your input, make sure the TV has an optical output jack - otherwise you are left using the headphone jack to drive this sound bar.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy Install
Spectacular Bass
Unbelievable Sound

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: While I may have this system outputting sound through an optic cable, the sound is just as great through bluetooth. You do not necessarily need the app that is suggested for install in order to play audio through bluetooth on your iPod, iPad, iPhone, or any handheld computer like device. Installation is simply plugging the sound bar and subwoofer into the outlet. Connections available are: 1 HDMI Out; 3 HDMI In; 1 Digital In (Optic In); 1 Analog In. I fully enjoy and love this system for my personal media room, whether I am watching tv, watching a movie, listening to music, or consuming any other form of media.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat choice in this price range

Pros: - Affordable price
- Very easy to setup
- Clean design
- Strong bass and clear sound
- Multitude of settings for games vs movies

Cons: - None so far, some other complaints I read on here were due to user error / inability to read a manual

Other Thoughts: There's obviously "better" sound out there for more money, but this is a fantastic setup for the price. It's a great value my dear friends.
