Onkyo

Imagine playing the latest blockbuster game or movie on your Ultra HDTV at a breathtaking 60 frames per second. Now add thunderous 5.1-channel surround sound from Onkyo. With every HDMI terminal on your receiver supporting HDMI 2.0 4K/60Hz, all this and more is possible. Even if you're not planning on upgrading your current display right away, it's good to know your Onkyo receiver is ready for the future of gaming and video entertainment.

Onkyo

Built-In Bluetooth
The HT-S3700 has built in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with DSP optimization for wireless audio streaming from your smartphone or PC. No wires, no dongles, no mess. Just pair your Bluetooth-capable device and stream directly to your home theater. With Advanced Music Optimizer DSP compensating for compression, music via Bluetooth sounds better than ever.

Onkyo

Authentic High-Fidelity Amplification
Onkyo's Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) is designed for high current delivery. High instantaneous current is needed to maintain control of the speaker drivers for precise yet musical audio reproduction, from delicate piano passages to the thunderous roar of an action movie soundtrack. Backed by a massive high-output transformer, the amplifiers feature a discrete low-impedance output stage with high-current transistors for instantaneous power and very low distortion. The resulting sound is detailed, dynamic, and highly realistic for both stereo and multichannel listening.

Onkyo

High-Res Audio Processing
There's nothing quite like plunging into a high-resolution studio-master 5.1-channel movie soundtrack. Your HT-S3700 can decode and play Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats via HDMI for a thrilling surround-sound experience. A 32-bit DSP chip and high-quality 192 kHz/24- bit TI Burr-Brown DAC smoothly and efficiently decode all the lossless and high-resolution formats common to DVD and Blu-ray.

Onkyo

Play Lossless and Hi-Res Music via USB
If you prefer a wired connection, the rear-panel USB port is ready to accept a range of audio formats from mass-storage class disks. As well as MP3, AAC, and WMA, you can play FLAC and WAV up to 192 kHz/24-bit resolution as well as WMA Lossless, Apple Lossless, and 5.6 MHz DSD. Alternatively, you can connect your PC, smartphone, tablet, or media player via the digital or analog audio inputs.

Onkyo

Zone 2 Line-Out for Multi-Room Audio
The Zone 2 line-level output lets you enjoy music from the source devices connected to your A/V receiver via the analog audio inputs in another area of your home. Connect a power amp and a pair of speakers, set them up in your kitchen, garage, or even out on the deck and listen to CDs and radio playing via your A/V receiver.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sound is good, many hdmi ports, quick set-up

Cons: Items missing from box, remote that works sometimes (replaced batteries), one hdmi port inop (used a known working hdmi to test each port), non-existent onkyo customer support. Has not returned calls or emails once, has trouble connecting via bluetooth (need to make multiple attempts with android and ios devces). Not sure what happened to onkyo, used to be a quality brand.

Update: 4 months of use and the center channel quit. Changed out speaker wires and used different speakers, still nothing. Will have to take in for repair.

Zero Stars

Other Thoughts: I agree with previous post about the remote, it really doesn't need to have so many buttons, lights would be good, as the print on the remote is tiny. Advanced manual is not available online.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Yes, I gave it a five. Great sound and lots of features packed into a budget price. I especially like the Bluetooth connectivity (up to 10 devices!). Ample inputs for a tech junkies gadgets, as well. Keep in mind that I've only had it for about a month, but so far it's been a great investment. Even has a second zone.

Cons: So far, none.

Other Thoughts: It comes with speaker wires, but they're probably better used for hanging pictures :-)
I never gave it any cons because, this is a budget system, it's probably not going to shatter windows or vibrate things off the shelves, if that's what you're looking for.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It has enough connectors for most things you need and the sound quality is amazing.

Cons: If you plan to have everything thru component and composite to HDMI prepare to be disappointed. It will require a TV with actual component and composite video connectors. Pretty useless since you will need double the amount of connectors.

4 out of 5 eggsUnbeatable for the price, and then some

Pros: Overall the sound does not dissapoint in any regards. The HDMI on-screen disply makes set up and tuning a breeze, and you can change the name that displays for inputs to anything from the standard. For instance, my Blu-ray input has been changed to Xbox One. It's a neat little touch that I did not expect. With a full range of audio codecs, you'll find this compatible with just about everything. Overall I am very pleased with this system and it really cranks out some sound.

Cons: The remote is way more complicated than it needs to be and does not light up.

Buy new speaker cable, the ones it come with are terrible, and after changing mine to some nice oxygen free full copper wires, the sound further improved.

It tends to fight with the TV for audio control with the ARC and CEC activated.

Other Thoughts: At the time fo this review, Newegg has the incorrect picture for this item, it doesnt look anything like the picture.
