5 out of 5 eggsHappy Happy Happy

Pros: Picture is amazing. Sound is better than my old console tv. I was nervous about the shipping but it arrive in one piece with no damage. The surface of the screen in matte, I have a windows close by that allows a lot of direct light on the tv and it is barely noticeable. Most friends and family who purchased other tv's wish they had waited and purchased this one. What's not to like, the full back lit LEDs with local dimming do a great job of going from intense bright color to very dark blacks. Plays Divx movies via USB!!! A+A+A+A

Cons: I have it on a stand and not a mount, while it has not fallen and i don't think it will. It does seem a little flimsy. Also I have those TV Ears for when mom is over so she can hear but there is no audio out on the tv thus i had it connect them to the surround sound. No internet but i have it via my blue-ray. Not a big con but thought you all should know.

Other Thoughts: If I could I'd buy another but the price is up $400 and now it looks like it is out of stock.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW. WOW. WOW

Pros: WOW!!! Went from a 27", 15 year old R.C.A to this. Can't describe how mesmorized I am. Haven't seen the price beaten yet ($1539). Delivery was GREAT.. The whole experience was exceptional...thanks NEWEGG

Cons: Don't have any.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Outstanding value for the price. Caught it on sale after Christmas last year. Great black levels for bluray and football. 240Hz for surreal TV watching. Big and secksie.

Cons: 90+lbs. Beefy to wall-mount. On some Bluray movies I've noticed independant backlighting create small halos around people's heads during night scenes. Only HDMI v1.3

Other Thoughts: If it does not power on right away, ensure you have it plugged into it's own separate 20-30amp outlet before submitting for an RMA. After viewing mine, a family member purchased one and ran into this issue trying to power the TV with a power strip.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: I managed to get this TV during the black Friday sale for 1400. Such a steal! This is my first HDTV, and I think I'm going to have trouble enjoying other people's normal LCD's from now on. The blacks are so deep, and video is very smooth. The image calibration wizard does a very respectable job, and you can set individual calibrations for each data source.

The connection layout is intelligent, and hasn't really been mentioned; 3 of the 4 HDMI connections point down, and can be covered with an included snap-in cover, and the last HDMI and the USB connection point out to the side for easy access.

Cons: Yes, there is a mild halo effect, but this is simply a property of the LED technology. I'm sure over time they will improve the control of the LEDs so that every pixel has the exact amount of light the picture requires, but LG did the best they could with this screen using the techniques and technology available to them.

The only serious gripe I have is the weight. 75 pounds is quite a lot to lift alone, and I couldn't seem to find anywhere to hold except the bottom edge. Stand seems adequate, but not adjustable; TV seems to tilt down about 4 degrees off vertical.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if this HDTV is worth the current price of 2799, but if you can grab it at a sale price of 2000 or less, you will not regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV

Pros: I waited a long time to finally by a big screen. I bought this in June and couldn't be happier. The price is incredible and it looks better than most of the 55's availibel for twice the price. I paid 1699 and still woudl pay more. 5 HDMI inputs, Easy to use menus and great picture quality. Also the on board sound is very good for a TV. Much better than normal

Cons: No real cons for us. Stand seemed a bit flimsy but I mounted it on a Hutch type stand with a mounting post so no issues.

Other Thoughts: If yuo want a great big screen at good money, buy this.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Television

Pros: Managed to secure this Television when it was on sale from newegg along with a 10% off coupon bringing the cost down to around $1500. At that price this amazing television was a steal, but now that I have had it for awhile I know I would have happily paid a far higher price. The definition on this TV is fantastic and the built in speakers, while not amazing, can still pump out quite a bit of high quality sound.

This is by far the best Television I have ever owned. LG never lets me down and neither does Newegg.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsHalo Effects and More

Pros: This TV does get excellent colors and true blacks. The LED back lighting makes a big difference. LG tech support is also fantastic as I have had a few problems and they were great with help. It has a very easy setup.

Cons: This TV displays haloing/ghost effects as previously posted. I went to few stores that had these LG models on display and it is a problem with all of them (although it it hard to find as it requires a particular combination of dynamics in the foreground and background at the same time). I also subscribe to BrightHouse cable and their cable boxes have some HDMI incompatibilities that I am still concerned about. The incompatibility issues deals with a voice sync problem (Nothing is more disturbing that watching TV and not have the voices synchronized as the mouth/lips move.) It drives me nuts. LG support sent a tech to my house and they installed a special firmware version which helped, but, the problem is still there intermittently. I know of others who subscribe to Brighthouse but they do not have any lip sync issues with their differing brands of TV. It's obliviously a shortfall for LG and it's probably due to the fact that this was the first LED TV (non-edge lit) made by LG.

Other Thoughts: This was my first HDTV purchase and I bought this because of a drastic price drop at the time and my 25 year old 52" box TV went bad.. If I had it all to do over again, I would not purchase this TV due to the background ghosting/haloing effect and lip sync problems. I'm still hoping for an LG firmware fix to all that. I must admit though, when the haloing is not there, nothing touches the picture quality.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV

Pros: Great picture! Great price! Great side view angles. I replaced an old CRT 32" RCA. This is my 1st hi def TV. I thought that this TV was going to be too big. But it's perfect. Shipping was not a problem. It has good sound by itself. User interface is good too. There are lots of input and output jacks. (HDMI, optical audio, "S", RCA, coax). I bought the wall stand from Rosewell (two thumbs up) and the Panisonic home theater all from Newegg. It all works in harmony. We love it.

Cons: I paid $200 cheaper than it's selling for now! That's a con for y'all. But as for the TV, the cabinet is a bit bulkier than the newer models. It is not internet ready (but my home theater is.)

Other Thoughts: At first the picture sucked. I called the cable co and they said it was the TV. I called LG and they said it was the cable co. I called the cable co back and they said I needed a hi def cable box. I had to drive 20 mi to get it. I plugged it in and still low rez pic. I called LG and they scheduled a tech to come to my house , but before he hung up, he suggested that we screw around with the cable box output settings. Low and behold, there was a low and hi rez setting in a sub menu of a sub menu in the cable box. BOOM! Awesome picture. Hats off to LG for awesome customer service! The cable co can learn a thing or two.

Oh, by the way, when I pulled up the Newegg page with this TV on it at the big box store on my Blackberry and showed it to the store employee, he said that he couldnt match the price. He wrote down the web page so he could check it out!

I trust Newegg and you should too!

4 out of 5 eggsFanatstic TV, not quite perfect

Pros: -Price is the big plus here, you won't find anything of this quality for such a reasonable price (between 1,000 and 1,100 off through Newegg).
-Easy to navigate menus
-Aesthetically pleasing cabinet/style (though the on/off light is a little strange, looks like a tumor sticking out)
-Overall image quality is great, sharpness, color saturation, deep blacks (when not obscured by bright whites adjacent to it, which brings me to the con...)

Cons: So I hate to break the trend of perfect 5's for this TV, but it really should be mentioned.

The one big con with the TV is the haloing effect you get when watching something that contains juxtaposing dark and light images. If you are watching a scene that is very dark, and there is something bright in the scene next to it, the light "dissolves" into the dark area and partially illuminates it. This is something that is very prevalent when either watching certain movies or playing video games. It depends on the movie, but basically anything that contains a lot of dark or moody cinematography (think Fight Club, No Country for Old Men, The Godfather, or where I first noticed the effect, The Book of Eli). The light DOES saturate into the darkness and looks pretty blah. A common shot you'll notice this is when a character is in a dark room/area, but one side of his face is illuminated by a light source, the shadowed side of his face will glow "white" with "leftover" brightness seeping ove

Other Thoughts: The other smaller con is that that effect is greatly exaggerated when viewing from an angle (it is, after all, still an LCD TV at it's core).

However, should this dissuade you from buying this TV? No way, other than that one flaw, it's a fantastic looking image. If you are watching anything with a lot of color or brightness (basically any sport and most movie types) the image is as clear as can be. Don't hesitate to buy this, but just be aware that despite the 23+ 5 star reviews, it is not a perfect television without flaws.
