4 out of 5 eggsGreat Picture / Mediocre Black Level

Pros: - Excellent color and response curves
- Color remains accurate off-angle
- WiFi Adapter Included (not tested)
- Magic Wand remote works well
- Netflix works well
- 24 fps mode works as advertised
- Very low power consumption (with backlight reduced)
- Image settings allow for very fine control and are separate for each input

Cons: - Black level is mediocre at best
- Local dimming just calls attention to this
- Black level climbs quickly off-angle esp. vertically
- Didn't even bother trying web browser or "apps"
- Image settings can be confusing

Other Thoughts: Why oh why did LG remove the menu option to disable local dimming? Black level is this TV's Achilles heel, and turning the backlight off for half a dark picture only makes matters worse by showing you what a real 100% black level is. I bought a Harmony 300i remote and used it to access the service menu to unhide the local dimming menu option and then turn off local dimming for good. Now it's not great, but it's much less annoying. If you mount this above eye-level, you'll probably want to tip it slightly downwards since black-level increases quickly off-angle vertically.

Otherwise, the picture really is beautiful. I went through the effort of manually calibrating the display by eye with just a couple test images: RGB response curves and a gamma 2.2 pattern. Details are preserved in shadows and bright colors. Colors are natural, not muted or over-saturated. There is some minor color banding, but you really have to look hard to see it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Television

Pros: Excellent picture
Two remotes that let you do everything - the simple remote allows a lot of interaction with just a few buttons
Netflix interface is great - Quicker and better than the Wii
Software updates regularly keep me updated with Netflix etc.
Interfaces with Plex right out of the box. I have digitized movies that sit on a 2T drive hanging off my iMac and I can pull up any one of them from the TV and play it.
Sound on the TV is good but I use ARC on the HDMI to push the sound back to my surround sound system. This allows me to get movies from netflix or Plex through the TV (WiFi) and play Dolby 5.1 through the sound system. I also watch TV over the air (no satellite, no cable) and get sound from the TV to the sound system. Works great.
Very lightweight, easy to hang.
Channels, input data, viewing selections are easily accessible and clear.
Power consumption is very low.
I bought this TV 6 months ago and I am still impressed with the picture and features.

Cons: Built in apps are a bit hokey.
web surfing is clunky so I never do it.

Other Thoughts: When I bought this TV it was a great deal as it came with some freebies. Even without the freebies I think that the performance/cost ratio is high.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat else besides a duck floats on water?

Pros: Great picture quality, happy with it and it was what I was looking for in my budget. Have yet to calibrate it, or use the wifi- I just plugged it in and ate popcorn. Plenty of HDMI input ports.

Cons: I have yet to try a gray scale test with this unit, but the first flaw I notice is that on dark scenes with bright letters, or a bright object (i.e. a space ship in space), the light bleeds through the sides like crazy and the whole horizontal area where the brighter object is lighter. Also wish it had at least one more RCA input for audio. The component and F-jack share the same audio input. I had to do some creative wiring to get sound to T.V. and back to receiver for a non-HD cable box and Wii. But what the heck, it works.

Other Thoughts: I am enjoying it, though the bleed light on the sides is annoying, but I guess not enough to look into to see if adjusting settings may improve that.

2 out of 5 eggsLG 47" 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV 47LV5500

Pros: Bigger than a 32", connects to the internet, sometimes the picture was good, magic remote was cool when it worked

Cons: Big cloud of light bleeding through on left side. Toslink connector for digital audio-out does not hold cable, it falls out. Have to use cheap LG wireless adapter others not compatible. Have to use LG camera for skype. Weather app only has weather for a town two hundred miles from here--I'm in the largest town in the state. Youtube app defaults to screaming punk rock videos until you enter something into search. Cannot access my router, ip camera or Plex app on another computer because there is no way to input username and password into the particular dialogue box that opens.
had to re-register magic remote twice, sometimes the cursor stays on the screen. Internet took several minutes to connect and your continually asked if "you would like to set up a connection to the internet?" while you wait.

Other Thoughts: Theres more but you get the picture. I have returned this item for refund and will be getting a Sony with edge lighting.

I have a 32" LG LCD 60Hz TV and some LG monitors and have had no issues at all with them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat TV With Some Cons

Pros: Iv'e owned this TV since last October.I didnt purchase it from New Egg though. The TV has a great picture. The "magic remote" is a neat feature. There are plenty of connection options, including HDMI,USB,DSUB,and Wi-Fi.All of them work well. The USB allows an external hard drive with music and movie files to connect directly to watch and listen. That function performs flawlessly. The internet connectivity allowed it to find and display song and movie information for all files.

Cons: The web browser function is simply not worth the effort. There is only a very innefective virtual keyboard, combined with the magic remote as a pointer. This set up makes for a very slow and sometimes confounding interface. The available apps are clunky and also not worth the effort in my opinion. The bottom line here is that If given the chance to do things over,I would not have purchased this particular model for these reasons.I could have saved almost half of the purchase price and gotten the very same model, but without the web browser and been ahead.

Other Thoughts: If you occasionally,or rarely want to use the TV in a web browsing capacity and dont have/dont want a computer then you might want this. But if you have a router to connect it to,then you most likely have a PC as well.It might be a fix to a problem that didnt exist. And a bad fix at that.I would say,get a model that doesnt have the web fuction and use the money saved to buy a PC and some periphials instead.Or if you have the PC already, then a bigger inch model. It has served as a moniter/TV for me par excellence. The picture and quality of manufacture is awesome for this price range.I'll be buying LG again.Just not this model. The egg came off because the web function just does not justify the purchase of a TV with that type of function.Other than that its a great TV.

2 out of 5 eggsExcessive backlight bleeding

Pros: Great color in bright video and tv, lots of HDMI and connections in the back, slim design, built in movie apps are very nice to have. Wifi usb that comes with it is nice as some others don't include it.

Cons: I've went through returning 2 different (lower) model TV's from LG and was about to return this one as well but I was just sick of having to deal with setting another one up. If you're watching a movie with a dark setting (Basically any horror films), wide screen movies with the black and at the top and bottom, this thing ruins it with ghosty back light bleeding all over. I'm pretty upset I bought this, it's not acceptable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV for the price

Pros: -Great viewing angle.
-Crisp colors.
-Works great with my Xbox, and computer.
-Comes with two remotes with batteries and a wifi adapter.
-Speakers sound good.
-Very light for a 47" screen.
-Very intuitive navigation using the remote to change settings.

Cons: -Power cable was very short. Had to use an extension, it looks to be only about 6ft... really? Unless you have a power outlet right next to it prepare to have to rig something up. Not enough to take an egg off but still annoying.

Other Thoughts: I got what I payed for. Mostly image quality is the concern, and this thing just looks great. And newegg had a 10% off promo when I purchased so the price was really good.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: *Nice clear picture
*decent sound from tv speakers
*plays well with most external speakers I tested
*cool smart remote
*120hz is very nice for those that enjoy gaming
*whites are freakishly bright on an LED at night haha

Cons: *apps available are weak at best
*can not upgrade flash player to properly use youtube
*navigating the youtube app without the smart remote is a pain
*not really a "smart" tv if it has trouble with some of its own apps due to flash player not being high enough

Other Thoughts: I took an egg away because of the "smart" aspect of this tv, the tv isnt so smart if it can not fully utilize its own apps that need the latest flash player......buuut other then the let down of the "smart tv" it is an amazing set and if you do not care about the apps and just want an epic LED-LCD 1080p tv then this is the one, I got this tv on sale which made it all that much more sweeter and am still happy with my purchase. Now if only LG would make an update for the flash player....hint hint :) Also if your a night movie watcher like my wife and I then do your retinas a favor and do NOT increase the brightness of the tv to near 3/4. I did that because we wanted to see the difference and we watched a movie that went from dark areas to freakishly bright ones and almost went blind, our neighbor said it looked like we were being abducted and brought back every few mins haha

4 out of 5 eggsGood TV

Pros: I love the tv. Like the Wand Remote, I use that more than actual remote. Works great with major main stream apps like Hulu, Neflix, and vudu.

Cons: Energy Saving Features are less desirable. The settings can make too dark to watch in well light or dark room. TV software updates can be annoying especially if buggy with rebooting the TV. LG apps are lacking quality entertainment.

Other Thoughts: The free shipping was inconvient for working individuals, 4 hour banker hours window. If LG was smart, they would open the application features to developers.
