5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV, easy setup

Pros: Plenty of connections, light weight, easy setup

Cons: A minor gripe would be the viewing angle in well lit rooms. It has a fairly glossy screen, so I would aim it away from windows or bright light sources.

Other Thoughts: While the 2D => 3D conversion is neat, it's a little gimmicky and not at all any reason that I purchased the TV. If you're looking for 3D IMAX quality here, you're in the wrong price bracket. Connections are straight at the back, and easy to get at, would be nicer if they were vertical for if you wall mounted it. As with all TVs there has to be some color calibration to get the most of your viewing experience, I managed to get mine setup in less than 10 minutes. Also as with most, if not all, thin TVs the internal speakers are a little tin-ey when the notes are just right it vibrates the TV and makes a noise. A sound bar or external surround system wouldn't be a bad choice for enhancing the experience. I snagged it while on sale, and have no complaints. I watch movies, and play games with no ghosting. I know there are complaints about this not being a true 120hz TV, but I don't have anything to appropriately test it. I know the manual states between 60-90hz for vertical and horizontal refresh rates.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat 3D TV for price

Pros: Set-up was easy (though having a friend to help guide the TV into the stand helped). Looks thin and stylish on the stand.
Picture looked great out of the box, requiring no tweaks for color or even brightness. Still looks fabulous 10 months after purchase.
3D in 3D movies and TV shows (Doctor Who - Day of the Doctor!) is very well done, and it's great to be able to use any glasses I bring back from the theater, in case I ever lose the 4 sets which were generously provided.
Nice energy-saving features; automatically turns itself off after awhile if it doesn't have an input.

Cons: I specified that the 3D looks good *in* 3D movies / shows, because the 2D to 3D conversion is a pointless gimmick, as it seems to be in all 3D TV's. Not worth bothering with.
Touch sensors on front of TV for power, volume, channel, etc. have no texture and as such are nearly impossible to tell apart if the room isn't well-lit.
The speakers will get you by if you're just listening to dialogue (or the news), but distorts pretty bad when you give it any sort of score. Not good, even by TV speaker standards.

Other Thoughts: You may be able to find a better TV at the full retail of $800, but if you catch it on sale (I somehow caught it at $550), this is an amazing buy for a full-featured 3D TV. If you don't already have a sound setup, do yourself a favor and spend a couple hundred bucks on a sound bar.

1 out of 5 eggsCustomer Service Sucks!

Pros: Price- I got it on sale but I would not pay full price for this TV.

Lots of connections in the back and the side.

Cons: LG Customer service sucks!. I called the LG customer service number that is on the user manual and it was answered by a guy in the Philippines. My remote control stop working after 7 months. I just want a new remote replaced since still under warranty but I got the run around to call a local TV repair shop that is provided by LG customer service. So I called the TV repair shop and I was told they don't replace remote control.

The 3D sucks big time. I guess I was expecting like in the movie theater where objects jumps right at you or you can "touch" objects in the air. The 3D on this TV is not even close. Don't waste your money. Big disappointment.

For some reason, when I channel surf, it skips other channel that is already added. For example, I go from channels 13 to 35 but I have channels in between 13 and 35 that is added. I have to manually press channel say 15 then it go from 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 etc. Its weird and I could not find in the user manual on how to fix that.

There is a connection for LAN setting. I tried to connect and it worked. The problem is there is no menu or button on the remote to connect to the internet so what is the point of connecting LAN. This is not a smart TV so don't expect to connect to the internet even you hooked up the LAN from your router to the TV.

Other Thoughts: My first time calling customer service and it was a very bad experience. I hope you don't have to call LG customer service because it really sucks!

2 out of 5 eggsnever buying LG TV again

Pros: great picture, good speakers compared to other TVs

Cons: backlight bleed (see other thoughts), bad black level ("grainy"), low quality components inside - Su'scon capacitors, TruMotion 120Hz = marketing gimmick

Other Thoughts: I bought this from a local retailer almost a year ago and it worked good for the first couple of months. However, the black level was terrible the whole time (it's actually grey instead of black, I later noticed most of LG's LED TVs are all like that), but I decided to live with it because I didn't want to haul it back. If the retailer had a display unit of this I would've never bought it, so NEVER buy a TV without looking at the display first! Anyways, after a few months the TV started bleeding backlight from 3 out of the 4 edges and it was actually getting worse by the day, yes that's right. So I finally called LG and told them about the issue and even the their tech support said it's most likely a defective panel. So they set up an appointment for a tech to come to my home to repair it and I had to request that morning off from work. The tech showed up on the scheduled day, empty handed, and I thought to myself: a morning wasted. He turned on the TV and confirmed the panel was defective and called his boss who asked him to use his smartphone to take a photo/video proving the panel was indeed defective. It appeared LG doesn't even trust their own techs. Afterwards they ordered the replacement panel and scheduled another day to actually replace it, and again I had to request another morning off from work. On the repair day the same tech came and started taking my TV apart. He was very clumsy and careless, I had to help out although he claimed he was ok. While he went to his van to get the replacement panel I took a quick look at the circuit boards from the TV. I noticed all the capacitors were made by Su'scon, which are known "bad-caps" I know this stuff because I build computers. Anyways, after he came back up he started replacing the panel and then putting the TV back together that's when I heard a loud "BANG" and he yelled "AiYaYai" I asked if everything was ok he said yes. Then I went to help him set the TV back on my stand and I noticed a huge dent on the back of the TV panel. My TV had been in perfect shape the whole time, I even left the factory protective film on it! I was sure that loud bang from earlier was from him dropping something on my TV, I asked him and he denied it of course. I didn't want to get into a verbal confrontation with him and just wanted him gone so I was like whatever. After all this, I told myself well at least I got a new panel, wrong. I noticed a scratch on replacement panel along with a dead pixel which my old defective one didn't have. It appeared LG gave me a refurbished panel and sent a clumsy tech who dented my TV. Finally, I called LG to complain and got the usual "sorry for the inconvenience" response. The end.

5 out of 5 eggsOwner

Pros: With the right 1.4 HDMI cabling this one does 3D on Xfinity really sweet. There is a 2D-3D converter with adjustments for more or less 3D. You can play your video games in simulated 3D. The price was at a sweet spot.
I called LG and asked them about repairs, costs, etc. The rep told me in home with no charge for parts and labor for the warranty period.

Cons: Watch your inputs to the correct settings for HDTV displays. HDMI1, DVD, Aux inputs, etc. for using different viewing equipment.

2 out of 5 eggsDead in 3 weeks

Pros: Decent picture quality, easy to use menu with many options for making adjustments, fast response (prior tv was very slow at everything from turning on, to changing the channel).

Cons: it broke.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this tv because i was in need of an upgrade and this one seemed to be a reasonable deal. i got three weeks out of it when the backlight died. i spoke with lg who said they would send a repair man out. when i spoke with him over the phone he informed me that i was going to have refurbished parts for the repairs. he then suggested that i talk to newegg about getting it exchanged for free because they have a very good rma department (which i agree with). after a couple weeks without a tv i checked my account to see when the new set would arive and found that newegg had canceled my exchange because they were out of stalk. however, they never contacted me to inform me that they were not sending me a new tv at all.

bottom line this was a terrible experience that left me a little upset with both lg and newegg. i decided to buy a samsung from costco. thanks a lot guys.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service From Newegg, Tv Arrived with Crack

Pros: Looked pretty until II took it out of the Box

Cons: Was a hairline crack in the upper left corner of the screen. Sent back in for a replacement but was given a refund instead. Tv is no longer on sale. Tried to order another tv similar to it but 55 inch, but it has taken almost 2-3 weeks to get my refund back. Very poor service. I have never had this problem before from Newegg, but the service I received is very poor this last purchase.

I thought the crack was maybe a hair or something, so I tried wiping it off, thats why there so many finger prints around the crack. Flipped out after I realized what it was.

Other Thoughts: Dont bother buying this tv as they will just refund you and hold your money for a month if theres something wrong with it. I dont understand what buying a warranty is for, if all your going to do is refund me the money when I clearly wanted the same tv but without a crack.
