5 out of 5 eggsNice clear picture

Pros: Clear picture, VERY light weight, apps are just about best in the business. Has all of the connections that I was looking for and setup was a breeze. One good thing about LG is their apps and software are better than most. Just downloaded all of the firmware updates, jumped about 4 rev's and have not noticed issues others posted about, will update after more time.

Cons: In regards to the TV, none so far. Shipping was on time and fast, but was concerned with the box showed up beat to heck. Luckily the TV was ok no damage, but man that thing had a rough ride getting here.

Other Thoughts: For the money this is a nice TV.

3 out of 5 eggsReboot issue Fixed with fan

Pros: Fairly nice picture

Cons: Reboots from chip inside not having enough ventilation.

I installed a USB powered fan over the chip which on my model as right inside the cabinet and above the RCA jacks. Drilled a pattern of small holes to vent the fan air pulling the heat outward. TV hasn't rebooted since.

Other Thoughts: I have a different model than this one here but the had the same restarting loop happening. After the fan installed it stopped. Been at least 7 months now-- no problem.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked Great, for 6 months

Pros: Crisp Clear picture.
Netflix app, on this TV, is one of the best apps for netflix I have ever had on any device. Instant load, never an issue.

Cons: After about the 3rd/4th update, my TV now does this thing where it decides to continually reboot. I turn on the tv, start watching something (if i get this far) and then it shuts down, turns on, shuts down, turns on....Repeatedly for approx. 3-5 minutes.

Sometimes it recovers, sometimes it doesnt. I tried reverting to factory setting, thought it was fixed, and then it started happening again.

Other Thoughts: The product is nice, must have a faulty power supply or even programming error.

5 out of 5 eggsLG 42" Smart TV

Pros: Great tv, easy set up with a stunningly clear picture and lots of great features with the smart apps. Also love the extra usb connectors for easy play from my mini hard drive. No extra streaming device is needed.

Cons: Speaker sound is thin, remedied by hookup to stereo or speaker bar.

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with the apps, picture quality and ease of use. My roku is nearly superfluous now.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Picture, but Reboots Itself in a Loop

Pros: The picture is great, sound is more than adequate for an average size living room, the Smart screens are intuitive.

Cons: After less than two months, the TV started rebooting in a loop and is unusable. I have run the firmware updates when available, power cycled it, and I keep it on a UPS for power conditioning. I hope this is just a dud, but one search on Google for "LG TV reboots" shows that this is a common issue for LG.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to request an RMA and hope that the next one will stay on for more that 20 seconds at a time.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this TV

Pros: Upgraded my 10 year old Olivia (also purchased from Newegg) to this. Screen size is nice. Have had no trouble with bleeding edges or dead pixels. 3d capable, smooth video (no ghosting), nice refresh, nice colors (definitely not a dull color pallet). Sharp lines, and very useful apps available to load on this unit.
Weight is outstanding; super light. VESA mounting holes are good.

Does NOT include the smart remote, Skype Camera or 3D glasses; those are purchased separately, although Newegg does not currently stock those items. They are not terribly expensive though.

Does include Netflix, Skype, and dozens of other apps you can download (free) and install straight from the TV. The television includes both Wifi and a 10/100 Ethernet port.

I am able to stream my videos directly from my Xperia Z Tablet, to this TV. It was simple to set up. After you pair the tablet with the TV, you essentially just find videos you want to watch on youtube (or whatever), and tell it to stream to the TV. As long as the TV and Tablet are on the same subnet, you can do this without physically plugging the tablet in to the TV. I sit on my couch with my tablet in my hand, and wireless watch Youtube videos, using the tablet like a remote control video selector. Create a playlist of videos and just watch them all back-to-back, non-stop.

Cons: My absolutely only problem with this TV is the included speakers for sound. It just does not do the TV (or any movie or video) justice. I strongly encourage you to purchase an external sound system for this TV. LG even makes a relatively inexpensive one for this TV.

Other Thoughts: Upgrading from a 37" LCD Olivia to this 42" LG was worth the money. This TV is very light, and uses far less electricity, thus produces far less heat. I honestly have not noticed any heat coming off of this yet.
With the light weight of this unit, it is easily a one person mounting job with the right VESA mounting kit.
Loaded with bells and whistles, I am very happy that this TV will be my bedroom unit for the next ~10 years.

5 out of 5 eggsA few notes

Pros: Good picture, OK sound

Cons: Poor manual and virtually no description of the "smart" functions Ports aren't the easiest to reach.

Other Thoughts: Note that this model does not come with the "magic" remote mentioned in the features. The regular remote is OK but don't expect magic. It also won't work with WiFi without an (optional - not included) USB dongle. Be warned.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg and LG make this a great buy

Pros: Great Picture, Great Price, overall great value. I wanted a smart TV with great picture for under $600, that's exactly what I got.

Cons: I have to give it Con's in order to be honest with potential buyers/shoppers. the cord to plug in the TV is not very long, but if they plug/power strip is within a couple feet it should be fine.

Other Thoughts: If anyone says the picture does not look great they do not know how to turn off the eco settings on this TV. Which will make the picture dark if in low lighting settings. I suggest turning this off if you have an issue with the picture being too dark. Other than that the TV looks amazing. I am an avid movie/sports watcher and love what it does for football.

1 out of 5 eggsfrequent rebooting

Pros: good picture

Cons: turns itself off then back on very often and randomly!

Other Thoughts: found online that LG smart TV's, that this and other models have been having this problem for some time.
