5 out of 5 eggsGreat Set

Pros: This TV is a color purists dream. Quatrron technology is present adding sharp’s 4th color but the true beauty is that it has more user controlled settings than my LG and Samsung. Truth be told, the set turned on and looked great from the factory which is always nice. “If” you really like to play with settings the end user has options to control color on a 10 point scale as well as adjust most all other features like noise reduction, motion enhancement and so on. This truly gives an extremely large range of color and options to play with.
Sound is good but the set is obviously thin and as such can only be so good in high volume situations. In a normal environment the tv is served well by its speaker system. Crank things up for movies and the marriage starts to fall apart. I did hook this set up for Sharp’s ST-SB60 sound bar. This is far greater in quality than the TV’s set but just because something is better doesn’t mean that the original option is bad. In SD 480i video mainly from antenna sources in my case I had lip sync delay with the TV speakers. With the sound bar I have not had any and I have had no issues form either with any HD steaming or HDMI source.
Motion and fast paced scenes are processed well. Again the user has option to select off, 120hz, 240hz, and 240hz Aquomotion 960. I prefer the set on off or Aquomotion 960 as some options make the picture too nice if that makes sense. Going higher on the Hz makes the TV dim so I recommend getting the motion setting you like before fine tuning your color settings as they will greatly change between these motion enhancement presets.
The set looks nice overall but is lower key than say Samsung which in my opinion have made some pretty high class flashy looking sets like the touch of color series. The screen is in between matte and gloss so it does have a tendency to pick up some light sources enough to be noticeable.

Cons: Very few complaints about this tv. In general any gripe is just that and no deal breaker. The back plate that covers the TV’s stand mound is cheap and does not seat securely to the set. It is not visible from the front of the set and plays no part in the TV’s rigidity so as stated it just gives the impression of a rushed production piece.
Second the Sharp ST-SB60 Sound bar is just too tall to sit in front of the tv set. In my case the sound bar covered the remote sensor which required that I mount the sound unit above my set. This ended up looking and working very well but it was not my initial intention and I was disappointed that two newer products from the same company didn't match up that well.
Coming from a higher end LG the 3D on this set just doesn't work for me. The depth is good as is motion and the glasses are light and not too dark. I personally prefer passive as I can see the flicker in the active sets but others in my home can not so it is more so of a personal preference than a lack on Sharps part. The set includes two glasses which run off non rechargeable batteries.

Other Thoughts: Web connectivity works well and synced up over wifi with no problems. One update has been issued since I have had the set and again no problems to report. Wifi signal picked up is low but has not affected performance. Over an N connection my other devices have full bars but the Sharp shows only one or two. Included apps work very well and show no lag or hanging while loading. I recommend the set based on its user control and picture quality.
