5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great for games and hd video, better picture then a 50in samsung , and 3 different 46 in. samsungs LCDs my friends have, which cost twice as much.

Cons: There is no glare for me but one side angle has glare from a lamp, may need to move a lamp.

Other Thoughts: Gears of Wars 3 Beta, and idol looks amazing,

1 out of 5 eggsSamsung does not respect Warranty

Pros: Very nice TV but useless when it is not working !
Less than one month after buying it, the screen broke inside without touching anything, of course.
We have 5 Samsung TV at home, that's why I am very upset to find out that the Samsung warranty is useless !

Cons: The technician from Samsung said that it was a physical damage but how CAN WE BRAKE the inside WITHOUT braking the OUTSIDE !!!
I am very upset to find out that the Samsung warranty is useless !

Other Thoughts: I run a Vacation Rental business, and I think I will go with Sharp or LG because of this Samsung dishonest attitude.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV!

Pros: I love the picture quality on this TV. The colors are very crisp and clear, and the sound isn't half bad.

Cons: Not really a con but I wish this model had the side A/V ports like my older Samsung plasma, you can see where they would have been but the holes are covered up.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for an affordable plasma TV this is a steal.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for my needs

Pros: Excellent blacks. No soap opera effect watching Battlestar Galactica unlike my friend's Samsung LN46C650. Colors pop off the screen. No buzzing issues. SImply put, the picture through both HDMI from my PC and HDMI from my PS3 looks sharp, and certainly more "natural" than I have seen on any LCDs under $1000. No IR problems... my old 2008 Panasonic plasma shows IR more easily than this does.

Cons: It's not a PN43D450. It required a bit of calibration to get the picture where I wanted. The screws were a pain to get into the base. Samsung needs to redesign the base. I expect more from them.

Other Thoughts: I bought it at a large nationwide store that is headquartered in Chicago for 2 Andrew Jacksons less than newegg. With tax it was still less. Whoohoo!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: GREAT TV...price and quaility of product. Samsung does it again for me. great picture for a 720p tv. even better then my parents Viore 1080p 42" tv they bought last year.

Cons: the only thing i dont like about the TV is that it is does pick up alot of glare. but thats partially my fault that i dont have curtains on the windows.

Other Thoughts: i would highly recommend this TV to anyone who is looking for a cheap high quaility tv. this TV is defenity worth more then you pay for it.

5 out of 5 eggsfollow up...

Pros: An unexpected surprise. Connected the TV to a blu-ray player from the same MFG, the 5500, and this is what happened. When the player was turned on, the TV displayed 720x480@60Hz. When a blu-ray disc started loading, the screen displayed 1920x1080@60Hz. And has great detail.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: As long as a blu-ray is playing, the resolution displayed is 1920x1080@60Hz and this is when the Info button on the TV's own remote is pressed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price - Nice HDTV

Pros: The color... it's beautiful. The onboard sound is actually pretty good for a TV. It's a plasma and I assembled it myself (ie. it's not heavy). Great size for most rooms. Plenty of adjustments to tweak. Looks great. They raised the controls on the TV's side/frame so that you can feel them.

Cons: The plasma screen isn't exactly black... and this is before turning it on. However, when watching a program that fills the screen and has contrast too, it looks fine.

Other Thoughts: Garbage in garbage out. If the TV get a crumby signal, you get a crumby picture. But on the other hand, if you send it a great signal, WOW it's awesome! I calibrated my screen so, some of you may want to try these settings: Mode=Movie, Contrast=96, Brightness=57, Color=56, Tint=G46/R54, Black Tone=DARK, Color Tone=WARM2. Enjoy!

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price, cosmetically pleasing, slim, almost no image retention that I've noticed

Cons: Picture quality

Other Thoughts: We have 1 plasma and 3 Mid range LCD's. Our plasma is the Samsung PN50B530 from last year. Ordering this we were expecting similar quality however the PQ is nothing in comparison. This is by far our worst panel at our house. We currently have a LG lcd from last year and a 42 mid range LG, can't remember the model. Seeing that this was a plasma, I figured that though it was lower in price than the LCD's that it would be similar in quality which is not the case. The colors are extremely washed out regardless of calibration. To give a example it looks like a 3 year old Plasma from my work that is on 24/7 or plasmas that I see on at bars or restaurants. Extremely disappointed with the quality, beginning to wonder if I received a different panel than those that are saying the PQ is great.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome TV

Pros: Excellent TV. I also own the 50" 1080p version of this TV - the PN50C550G1F and can honestly say this TV is equally as pleasing. I'm away from home for a while and wanted a 42" plamsa and after doing all the research this was the only option.

I was even impressed by the stock sound. At home I have a Nanosat 5.1/Onkyo setup that rocks so I bought a Sony sound bar for this set but it hasn't arrived yet and I've been thoroughly pleased by the existing speakers.

Unless you live above 6500 feet Plasma is the best picture you can find and now the prices blow LCD/LEDs away.

Cons: Like others have said, there is glare. Careful placement should resolve this. No 3D - big deal - I don't want to wear glasses while I watch TV anyway.

Other Thoughts: Any Samsung plasma for the win!

5 out of 5 eggsNo Expert-----BUT!

Pros: Excellent quality, performance and the price is fantastic. I paid $599.00 a month ago at the Worst Buy. Samsung makes great products in all categories and I purchased this TV after giving standard LCD a shot and not liking the picture quality. Now that Plasma's can play games nicely I will never go back!

Cons: People who rate their Technical Knowledge at the highest levels and then state that an HDMI cable somehow can alter the electronics of anything it is hooked up to amaze me. To the nice, well-meaning person who reviewed this TV and claims that his HDMI cable somehow changes the TV to a 1080p signal I would lower my technical rating if I were you and read up a bit on the whole cable versus electronics program. If what you said were true it would likely cause a stampede of people who would be returning their 1080 sets for 720's....People actually rely on reviews to make buying decisions.

Other Thoughts: I am actually considering buying another one of these sets as a XMAS present for a family. Trying to get in the spirit of things this year!
