1 out of 5 eggsto "N/A"

Pros: Samsung still supports it, at least.

Cons: Now, TV has 4 entire rows of dead pixels! Placed another Service Call...

Other Thoughts: To "N/A" above my previous comment. You should have read my "P.S.". Of course I tried different cables... and, as my note says, a different PC... and a different Port. These are digital cables and this shielding issue isn't what it used to be with analog cables. When you have bad cables, it usually results in partial image lost or kind of pixilation. Not so much ghosting. What's more, a bad cable doesn't follow a window content as it's being move around on the screen.

Do you own such TV? Have you done a similar test on yours? I'd be curious to see if others have done a similar test.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy good cables

Pros: kk99 That is obviously a cable issue and not the TV's fault. Buy better cables with more shielding and the dark bands will go away. You will see dark bands extending like that on any display technology when using bad cables.

Cons: N/A

2 out of 5 eggsnot pleased

Pros: Samsung *did* make an effort to accomodate me... However...

Cons: Very disappointed with the TV! I purchased this TV as part of a new Home Theater I was building in my living room. One of the things I really wanted to do in my new setup was to hookup a HTPC... so, as part of the new toys, I also built a PC specifically for that. When I hooked up the PC (HDMI), things kinda looked alright. But at some point, when the conditions were right, I started noticing dark bands on the screen. Then, I found a way to easily see those bands. So, if you get a white background on the screen and overlay a dark window, you can clearly see dark bands extending on each side of the dark window... through the entire width of the screen!! This is more easily done when hooked up to a PC cause you can set those conditions at will; for instance, by opening up a blank Word Document taking most of the screen... then opening up any dark window (Steam Game window is how I noticed it... a lot!). You will then see the dark bands....

Other Thoughts: continue... now, even though those were much more noticeable on a PC, they exist when watching TV... but since the image moves all the time and things aren't as Black/White for long... they aren't as apparent. But I can notice the band if looking at the Cable Box's Menu, for instance.

Samsung first replaced my screen... then, replaced the entire TV... with the wrong model! That model did the exact same! And finally, Samsung has replaced the TV again (with the right model) but the TV still has the same issues. Therefore, I truly believe this is a Samsung Plasma Technology issue... which is probably true for all their Plasma TV! Can anybody else confirm?

If I had to do it all over again... I'd go with an LED! I'll give credit to Samsung for trying though... I just wish I could return it!

P.S. Yes... I connected a different PC, different Cable... different Port...

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful TV

Pros: This 64" replaced my Panny 50" that was about 7 years old. Very wonderful and dynamic picture, though I was hoping to be more overwhelmed by the picture quality. CNET gave this set a very high review, calling it the TV of the year for 2011, so I figured I was in for a real treat. Its picture is great, no question. The factory settings were a little dark in my opinion, but it was pretty simple to fix. Nice big screen that doesn't seem nearly as big as it is, largely because it is so thin and has a very thin border/edge around the actual screen. Wathced first 3D movie last night on it, and it was amazing. Breathtaking picture. Sharp, bright, clear and very defined dimensions to vidoe. My old Panny definitely couldn't do that...

Cons: I don't really care for the business of the "SMART HUB" on this TV. We haven't tried ordering movies yet through this application, though we can easily access our Netflix account without the need for a separate device (Roku, Wii, etc. to access Netflix).
