5 out of 5 eggsAmbilight Owns

Pros: Great TV for the price. Ambilight is going to be a new standard. Lots of inputs and very nice looking aesthetically.

Cons: I will have to agree this is the heaviest TV I have ever owned. I also had to harass AIT to get it delivered. 5 business days after it arrived at local depot.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!!! You wont go wrong

Pros: I can't believe this T.V. The picture is amazing and it has all the great features (except 1080p) for much less than the other TVs out there.

Cons: The TV is heavy and I am not crazy about the remote. Also, the instructions on set up and PIP etc could be better.

Other Thoughts: I ordered this on a Monday and received it on Friday. Shipping was great!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HDTV - Not So Great Shipping

Pros: 1080i capability. 2 HDMI plugs. There's a lot of options to tuning the picture to your personal preferences. The ambilight's kinda cool.

It's a helluva lot of TV for the money.

Cons: HEAVY!!! Other than that, no complaints.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend the white glove service from AIT. There's really not that much added value for the extra money they charge you. The guy they sent, 1 guy for a TV that's like 100+ llbs) was bouncing it around like crazy too, but good thing it's packed really well from the factory.

All the White Glove gets you is them rolling it into your place and opening the box for ya.

4 out of 5 eggsLove the TV - not so much the shipping

Pros: Large! Able to view 1080i at a bargain price; the next set even capable was $200 more and didn't even have all the plugs I wanted. 2 HDMI plugs. The Ambilight feature is such a great feature, it adds alot to movies and games alike.

Cons: The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating was the shipping. AIT has the most vague tracking system I've ever seen. Don't bother trying to figure out where your package is thru their webpage - just call the number given; they will probably ask you to call again tomorrow to find out where it is then. The box arrived at my work and looked as though it had been shuffled twenty times by how many scuffs, gouges and battle scars it had sustained. I was afraid to sign for it, but did. Amazingly the TV was unscaithed - only due to how much packaging room philips boxes have. Get help to move it - this set is heavy.

Other Thoughts: The stand is quite sturdy compaired to others I've seen - you can wall mount it if you want with the hardware provided. I was afraid I may have made a mistake by not getting the other philips with the built in cable card option but the Ambilight is well worth the trade. Yup, it's a heavy TV.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: I replaced an old 32'' CRT with this bad boy, and all I can say is WOW.. The tv itself just looks amazing.. grabs your eye as soon as you walk in. The picture is incredible.. The HD tuner lets me grab HD channels without paying for them.. The ambilight really adds another dimension

Cons: HEAVY!.. Little humming noise from the amblight lamps... but barely noticable even with a silent room

Other Thoughts: Grab an upconverting DVD player and you'll love this tv.. This is an incredible tv for the price.. Can't beleive they let us have it.. You'll love it..

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ordering and order processing quick and easy. Quick delivery. TV is outstanding, great picture. I love the ambilight - it really makes watching the TV a lot better.

Cons: Unit is heavy but it's a 50 in. plasma so it should be. No other issues so far.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely get this TV again. For the price you just can't beat it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice TV, but first arrived broken

Pros: TV is great. Good design and looks. The picture is great as well. I have only had the tv a few days but I have tried watching regular channels, HD channels, and have used my xbox360 connected to it. All sources look good with minimal adjustments. The remote works well and is kinda futuristic looking. The ambilight is quite cool and definitely adds another dimension to tv watching. Definitely happy with this purchase.

Cons: Tv shipped with picture size set to "auto". For some reason, this caused the picture to constantly resize while playing xbox360 games which is quite annoying. I solved this by setting the picture mode to "widescreen" instead.

Also, (through no fault of newegg) the first tv I received arrived broken. The screen was completely shattered into hundreds of pieces. The box showed no indication of such damage. 1 phone call to newegg and they promptly shipped me a new tv. Kudos to them for great customer service - wish I could say the same about AIT....

Other Thoughts: TV is quite heavy. I previously had a 37" which was 60lbs. This 50" is more than twice the weight. Yes, its a big tv, but the weight is considerable. Be careful when mounting on the wall or attaching tv stand.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Indeed

Pros: Great screen bright picture can be viewed from almost any angle in the room. The ambilight feature so far has been a nice touch and puts out much more light than I had anticipated. 2 HDMI inputs. Sound through the speaker is adequate for those not wanting to invest in or hook up a stereo system. New Egg Website and Delivery Through AIT was simply put Amazing...

Cons: The large black bezel that surrounds the screen while very attractive feels very cheap and like it will come loose from the screen. Its slightly thicker than other plasmas but I would imagine that has more to do with the built in ambilight.

Other Thoughts: Would like to have seen a DVI connection or perhaps a third HDMI (I know thats asking a good bit). The weight on this set is considerable.

5 out of 5 eggsExtra info...

Pros: Forgot something from my last review. Just wanted to let people know that this TV can display up to 1080i resolution with an HDMI cable. IF the source your video is coming from can upscale to 1080i then the TV will display it. Our Time Warner Cable box is displaying in 1080i and it looks amazing on Hi-Def channels. And just to assure you, it says this in the TV's manual, we are not just assuming. Also, nobody claims to be able to visually see the difference between 1080i and 1080p. 1080p does offer better "Performance" NOT picture though, and thats barely noticeable as well. (When referring to upscaling. A TV with full 1080 Resolution will have a slightly better Hi-Def picture)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Read my last review.....

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Amazing Picture on standard and High-Def channels. The Hi-Def picture is so vibrant and clear, its just amazing. Were mesmerized every time we see it. And we have seen HD before, so its not like our first time. The design is beautiful in person and extremely stylish. The pictures don't do it justice. Ambilight really is amazing at night and in dark rooms. Adds another dimension to TV/Movies, especially in HD.

Cons: Not really a con , just a note- Its a 50 Incher, so its a big screen. Awkward to lift onto a wall mount and scary. Had me so nervous, haha. 3 man ( strong men, lol)job at least.

Fine tunning of the picture settings is needed, auto color isn't that great. No big deal there.

Nothing else really. Don't expect much outta the speaker except for it to look cool under it, wich it does look alot nicer in person. Hook this up to a good sound system for full effect.

Other Thoughts: AMazing TV. I dont know whats up with the pricing. I know its on sale right now, but even $2,000 original price sounds too cheap for this. Philips has some weird pricing right now, with older TV's that don't even have Pixel Plus 3 and no Ambilight for $2500+ which is just weird. And some models on newegg that are listed as a lower end models on Philps site are priced higher here.
