5 out of 5 eggsGhost in the Machine resolved

Pros: Repairing a five year old TV without parts is, IMO always a plus
In my second review I was complaining about the input menu popping up any time any button was pushed....
Well I fixed it
The problem goes away when the sets on board control button board is unplugged (P.N. AK015 REV. 0)
So something is up, as the board with nothing other than switches could go bad... BUT one of them switches was bad... had rather low resistance when it was supposed to be infinite. I was able to disassemble the switch and clean the little "clicker contact" and the switch internals. really the hardest part was pulling the dozen or so screws on the back.

Cons: couldn't tell me what was wrong ;>)

Other Thoughts: Although this TV is fairly old and heavy it is back to normal
The side mounted switches on the lower right are accessible once the back is removed. A cable and a multi pin connector along with two screws, will have the part in your hand for testing.
I have no idea as to why the internal part of one of the switches had become contaminated, but that was the culprit.
One could simply disconnect this switch and use the remote exclusively as I was tempted to do, but I just had to look further.
Odd that the sets switches were never really used, it could have had some thing sprayed in that direction, but there wasn't any sign of that

4 out of 5 eggsFive years later

Pros: This was a pretty good deal. Although this TV has few total hours on it given its age, its the age that caught up with it

Cons: Last week turning on the TV all was fine until I switched channels.
The menu for input select pops up all by itself when any button is pushed and the set is locked on to that feature while the menu scrolls as if you were going to select a new video source.
The volume is locked out in that it remains the same the video remains playing and sound is normal.
There is no longer a firmware update available from Sceptre and in a web chat with tech none is going to be reposted.
Sceptre will repair it for $250.00 plus parts and shipping.I don't know about that though, it is a lot of money for a five year old set

Other Thoughts: I may run this set as is for awhile given how little it it gets used. I have to turn the set off to effect the channel change.
Aside from this issue everything else works as it should, the picture looks great and no dead pixels.
All in all my guess is this TV set has about 800 hours use in 5 years

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied overall

Pros: Purchased 8 months ago. No dead pixels, Excellent picture. Lots of inputs for external signal sources (Directv, Blueray, gaming system, computer, etc.. Has its own tuner for off-air view.

Cons: Marginal sound. Ok, I admit it, my hear is not that great (I'm a seventy year old trumpet player). If the sound from the program is clear I'm ok, but if it's action/adventure with lots of background (ambience) sound,it's tough to listen to with lots of, 'what did he say?'. We broke down and bought a low end Sony home theater systerm and that solved the problem and added surround sound which made it worth buying all in its self.

Other Thoughts: I know I should by a wall bracket! One little earhtquake here on the West Coast, and I'm going to have a busted TV. Oh yeah; now I have to have three remotes to control everything.... bummer! (Where the audio remote, honey?!)

5 out of 5 eggsgreat tv great price

Pros: I have had this tv for almost a year now (bought in october of '08). The picture quality is great, and I run the sound through a home theater system (as should everyone). I've got a ps3 and a pc hooked up to it using hdmi. 1080p is awesome. I have 0 complaints. So the remote is a little off, but I don't really use it since there's no need.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsgood tv

Pros: Good quality, an underdog in TV's. Full 1080p on PS3 and HD tv works good. Had 3 ded pixels but can't be seen from 6feel a way.

Cons: Sound on this tv is not good. The audio is not that good. Would recommand getting some sound box for it.

5 out of 5 eggsRisk with GREAT outcome!

Pros: Price paid was 800.00$. The company is new so there is not much known about it. I have owned many other LCD televisions and monitors and this one beats them all in quality (even over our panasonic and sony). Most televisions of this size run 1500-2000$ but this is less than half that price! Worked right out of the box with little tinkering with a beautiful picture. ZERO dead or stuck pixles! Nice and sturdy with a strong stand that even swivles!

Cons: The only two cons that I can think of is the heat and the speakers. It does run a bit hotter than most televisions, however, this is not that big of a con due to the fact it still runs fairly cool than some. Heat you just cant get away from without going to an LED television. Of course the speakers are lacking, but I have not seen ANY LCD television that had good speakers. Just get a home theater set (I use onkyo) and you will truely be in the movies!

Other Thoughts: We have a samsung Blueray player we hooked this up to as well as dish television. The television works great with dish even though dish still doesn't know how to make normal television HD. HD Theater (the best channel on dish for the TV) looks amazing! Blueray movies look stunning and we don't have to set anything up. Plug and play television. I am GLAD we took this risk and many people are envious of how much we paid for what we got!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Picture

Pros: Great picture quality and very nice design! I use it as a computer screen via the HDMI input and videogames, my desktop and movies look superb!

Cons: One dead pixel :( This type of thing happens with LCDs, so what can you do about it?

Other Thoughts: My dad bought a Samsung for $2,500 from Best Buy and what a ripoff that was because our picture looks the same!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tv great price

Pros: Great price and picture goes without saying. After downloading a free tweak program and doing some adjustments to the picture it looks amazing. Streaming 1080p online is unbelievable. Most have said that the speakers are a con but i consider them a pro. They are very low profile, i couldn't tell you how they sound though because honestly if you bought a 1080p tv and you're not using surround sound then just send the tv back. I wish manufacturers would stop putting speakers on tv's just to stop this complaint altogether.
Some other pros are:
Inputs (Enough to satisfy me anyway)
Light weight (I can lift this tv myself when i need to)
Split screen (For when friends bring over their xbox)
Accurately displays colors after some tweaking (You can't use the default settings)

Cons: This tv made me realize how terrible cable's picture really is so i had to upgrade to fiber lol. (Not sure if that's really a con)

Remote sensor. Not the remote itself but the sensor on the tv is not very good. I overcame this with my universal remote, it has the option to send the signal for a number of seconds instead of just a quick burst. Kills the battery faster but i use rechargeables anyway.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked to have seen the usb port on the side instead of the av input.
Very good packaging, the box was beat up a lot but the tv was without a scratch.
UPS guy actually helped me carry the box up the stairs which was nice of him considering it isn't his job.
Neweggs fast processing and shipping got the tv here the same week i ordered it.
Overall very good experience, i've already recommended this tv to others who have bought and are happy with theirs.

4 out of 5 eggs6 months later... Everything is lovely!

Pros: Native 1080p at an amazing price

Cons: The remote has zero-range. Thankfully, I only use it to switch sources...

Other Thoughts: I wish I could give my television 5 stars... Everything about it is exactly what I wanted in a 46" 1080p LCD. The number of inputs rocks. I use it to play movies and streaming web-content off a computer as well as a blu-ray (just dumped cable.... no regrets!). My kids play computer games and Wii games on it. This television is the complete video solution for my living room, and is a great source of family-time with my kids.

But the remote sucks.

I had a Septre 30" LCD (also from Newegg, which I sold for $350, three years after I bought it for $500. The person who bought the 30" from me is very pleased with her purchase, and the sale made is easy for me to upgrade.

I trust this brand name, and Newegg.
