1 out of 5 eggsBackliight failed after 8 months

Pros: cheap price

Cons: not reliable

Other Thoughts: I've not had a TV\Monitor fail ever. I've had monitor fail at work but only after 24\7 use for many years.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat TV in a hard-to-find size

Pros: -Great picture

Cons: -Poor sound
-Remote sensor range not the best

Other Thoughts: Why don't more companies make TV's in this size? It was so hard to find one, and with a price that made sense (smaller TV's always seem to be more $$) I think I may have bought up the last one before it went out of stock/discontinued. I needed a small tv for my kitchen and this fit the bill perfectly. Sound isn't the best, but I just use it to catch the news or whatever while eating. You can always hook up a cheap pair of PC speakers to it. A good buy if you can still find one of these.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome budget screen

Pros: Nice little screen that I am using for a preview monitor in a pinch. Fits in a rack and is surprisingly sharp considering the price. Good selection of inputs and decent UI.

Cons: Audio is a little tinny but thats to be expected from a small budget screen like this.

5 out of 5 eggsGot the 42 now the 17 on Raspberry PI

Pros: Excellent picture. Bought the 42" over 2 years ago for my son who wanted big screen gaming and a TV for the bedroom. It has been on every day for 2+ years. So I bought this one on sale-free shipping because I have been playing with a RASPBERRY PI and the 42 inch was just too much. I wanted something for my office/ lab/ ham radio/ computer room..
1 year parts and labor warranty.
Biggest pro is the power supply is a "wall wart" 12V @2A. That means I can go down to Radio shack and buy a cigar lighter cord and use this mobile in the car/RV or during emergencies as my ham station is solar powered and all 12 volts. The remote that came with this set works with my Sceptre 42"

Cons: The Boston Hotie toy would say these are cons, but us Kansas dirt farmers are just reporting this so you know: The base does not tilt or swivel and must be installed with 3 screws, but get this--- they include a nice little screwdriver. The bottom of the base to the bottom of the screen is 4 inches. So on a desktop I put a box under it to match my other monitors...

Requires a TV antenna for reception. I rigged a simple rabbit ear (18 inch wire) and received 4 HDTV channels. what ever happened to the days rabbit ears were built in.

Other Thoughts: Estimated energy cost is $4 per year. The sale price was far less than an HDMI monitor for the computer. Granted the Raspberry pi was 1/2 the cost of the monitor but composite video displays were at least $35, and with the Raspberry PI you have only the choice of composite video or HDMI. Of course since Rpi is capable of HDTV.. this was the low cost solution.

This was written using a $35 Raspberry Pi computer and the Septre display.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my office

Pros: Small and compact. I wanted a TV for my small office that wouldn't stick out or overwhelm the room and this does just that. Super light and very low energy consumption. The picture quality is acceptable and setup was a breeze.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none at this time

5 out of 5 eggsSceptre 16" 720p 60Hz LED HDTV E165BV-HD

Pros: Easy Setup. Great Picture and Sound for the size of the TV. 2 HDMI inputs!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this TV to hang in my bathroom to watch the news while getting ready in the morning. It's lightweight and hangs on the wall nicely. Took only 10 minutes to set it up and I was off and running.

5 out of 5 eggsSceptre 16" TV

Pros: Bought this TV to place on my desk next to my computer monitor. Super great HDTV in picture and use. Had the TV now for 5 months used a few hours daily wlthout any problems . I have 2 DVD recorders hooked up to record programs with the HDMI connections. Can be mounted on a wall if so desired. Uses a remote with Sony codes. Tested TV with Kill-a-watt - uses 13w. A 40" TV with a sound-surround system uses 250w. Many times I just watch this 16" TV. At Christmas I bought a 32" Scepture TV and it is the same story - works great.

Cons: The only con: Both TVs have equalizers to adjust sound, but you really need to add amplified computer speakers to the 16" and a soundbar to the 32" to get away from tinny sound from the rear speakers. But for the TV price, you may have a set laying around or buy a set between $11-20 and still be way ahead price wise over a high-price better name TV.

Other Thoughts: You just can't beat Sceptre for price. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 eggsFine TV

Pros: Good clarity & color. View angle is wide enough for our use, about like a laptop screen. It seems to have plenty of broadcast signal sensitivity, working just fine off an indoor antenna split between four TV's

Cons: Captioning could be a little larger

Other Thoughts: We use it as a TV channel monitor, sound off, so can't speak about the sound. Captioning offers lots of options - we have it on best size, font, and contrast, could be even larger

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: It makes a picture and sound, lots of inputs: 2 HDMI, AV, component, VGA, etc. No dead pixels yet.

Cons: Screen has very narrow field of view - if you're off slightly to one side or the other you'll see a distorted, un-evenly lit image. Construction is average for price range (cheap). Menus are pretty bad - it is very difficult to navigate in USB file selection mode.

Even though English is selected for menu, sometimes this thing goes into French or Spanish mode for no particular reason.

Other Thoughts: Got on sale for $85, and probably paid twice what its worth. This was to be a monitor for a test bench area, but one of the real downsides in A/V mode is that audio is muted if video signal is not present, so that makes it pretty much useless for what we need. It would be better if the audio worked regardless of Video signal was present or not.

Its really not worth returning, will probably donate to Goodwill next week. Oh well. You get what you pay for.
