4 out of 5 eggsHappy Camper

Pros: Beautiful picture. Great HD quality.

Cons: speaker sound below average

Other Thoughts: I would have given 5 stars if the sound quality was better. I use in my motorhome and couldn't be happier.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice TV; with AC/DC capability

Pros: A bright, high-contrast picture with wide viewing angles; great volume, tuner sensitivity, appearance and price. Power input is 12-volts, so it's perfect for car/truck applications, with relatively low power consumption for a 19" screen (3 amps/36 watts).

Cons: The remote control is a little confusing; and the owner's manual is poorly translated and incomplete. Also, the manufacturer does not include a cigarette plug power adapter for car/truck applications. But one can be assembled at Radio Shack for less than $15.

Other Thoughts: I was frightened enough by another review to call Newegg and ask if I could return the TV if the tuner had poor sensitivity. The CSR assured me that failing to get "all the channels" would be considered a defect and justify a return.

So I placed the order, ready to return the TV if any problems arose. Well, I'm glad I took the chance, because the TV has great reception and does not have any significant static or hiss when muted, all contrary to what the first reviewer claimed. (But what can you expect from someone who gives himself the highest 'Tech Level' rating, yet mentions an "LED Black-light?")

This TV is replacing a 15" Insignia which got 14 channels near Boston using my Freightliner's integrated antennas. After swapping TVs, the iSymphony got 16 channels. Threading a coax onto the TV's antenna input is a little tricky, so I wonder if the first reviewer didn't attach his properly.

In any event, the iSymphony works well in all substantive respects. I'm very happy with

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away from iSymphony LED19iH55D - Poor Design and Build Quality

Pros: > Price (Shell Shocker for $169).
> LED Black-light.
> Zero dead pixels.
> Picture quality looked good.

Cons: > Price (cheap, unfortunately you get what you pay for).
> Static on speaker, (like AM radio) even on mute.
> DVD menu cursor will intermittently not come up.
> Very poor sensitivity on built-in HD tuner (only 4 channels with rabbit ears).
> Remote does not have an eject button, had to manually switch to DVD source to load or eject DVD.
> Menu button on remote does not function, had to figure out Menu button by trial an error. Turns out the actual menu button had a bunch of squares (like a strip of film) icon printed on it.
> DVD loads with reflective side facing front. On this point I have a short story to tell. I recently found a clone to the iSymphony unit (Viore) on another retailer's site, the unit is identical except for the name. The reviewer complained she kept getting a "Bad Disk" error. After exchanging the unit she got the same "Bad Disk" error.
SOLUTION: Try turning the disk over.

Other Thoughts: Got this TV/DVD combo for the kids to use in the kitchen. Really wanted to like it since the price was right (or so I thought).
Newegg was awesome, they let me return the unit for full refund, including return shipping. I'm a customer for life.

I ended up buying a JVC unit with similar features at a local Sams for $30 more + tax.
In contrast:
> No defects (no audio static, & menu cursor worked). Ok, it had one dead pixel, big whoop.
> Excellent HD tuner sensitivity (20+ channels with rabbit ears).
> While watching TV, the DVD will eject when eject button is pressed, and it will load and begin to play when a DVD is inserted.
> The Menu button is actually the Menu button.
> DVD loads with the label facing front.

Even my 7 year old commented on how much better the JVC works.
