When you look at Panasonic’s 50" plasma screen HDTV, there’s one only word: WOW! With video noise reduction, digital comb filter, color purity optimizer, and sub-pixel controller built into it, there’ll be no shortage of eye-popping video. That means a staggering 29 billion colors, a mind blowing 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and 3,072 shades of gradation.
The only way to see it better is to be there yourself. This mammoth 50" will make high definition television more than impressive sounding techno-babble. It will make it an eye-pleasing reality. Panasonic's Plasma Picture is (almost) Perfect!
This review is from: Panasonic 50" 720p Plasma HDTV TH-50PX77U
Pros: Amazing black levels, looks almost perfect right out of the box, superb handling of lower quality sources like SD Dish Network thru an SVideo input, anti-glare coating actually works and is very helpfull (I thought it was just a gimmick until I saw it).
Cons: Sound is not as good as the older 75U model with the larger speakers on the bottom... this model has a lower profile with side speakers and it sounds decent but not great.
Other Thoughts: I got a Vizio VP50 for a triple digit price on black friday. After having it for several weeks, I decided I was not happy with it. It had potential to look great with a very good signal, but anything less looked terrible. It had the Faroudja DCDi chip but it still didn't look good at all.
