5 out of 5 eggsPanasonic Veira 54 I own

Pros: The color and richness of the dark blacks, browns, Reds and other colors are siimply great. It was a breeze to setup and install , needed two people to set it down securely. I love all the online features that come with the set once you plug it in, easy to rent or buy current movies, surf the web, it blew me away how easy it was. Setting the colors scheme to my taste was a no brainer.
Thought about a LED , but this baby has a better picture than any other set I own. After understaning the different model numbers and the perks that go with them, this set has got me satified. I am still learning new features daily and the love afairs is going strong. The set was reccomended by my son who is really tech minded and he said , It's the One....For now

Cons: Initially had some issues with negotiating the remote control. Have it attached to a Sony sound system and have to switch between the two.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Unbelievable color and contrast. An absolute blast to watch movies and HD TV on.

The sound isn't as bad as you may think. It's good enough for news an talk but when you want great sound, the optical output will give you that when hooked to a good receiver.

I bought this for a HTPC I had built and am more than happy. I bought an Asus wireless adapter to be able to access the Vieracast function wirelessly and am pleased there as well. Another comany's movie rates are a bit too high for my tastes so am using Netflix for nine dollars a month for movie access. The streaming there is very good throught the HTPC. Streaming through Viera is excellent as well in the testing I have done on the YouTube, Bloomberg and other streaming media available.

All in all, this is a great television that is as good or better than any I have seen in the brick and mortar stores I went to in researching my best choice. For the money, I feel this even exceeds the LED's on the market today.

Cons: The IR receiver is planted dead center in the lower frame of the unit which means if you want to use an exterior speaker for your center channel it better be darned skinny or invisible. Or you plant this big boy on the wall.

5 out of 5 eggsJust right (update)

Pros: I've been using this TV for months now and thought I should add something to my initial review...
First off, the best full system 'show-off' piece I've come across so far is the lobby/helicopter scene from the Matrix on Blu-ray. Also, Watchmen on Blu-ray is absolutely gorgeous.
The Viera Cast weather has turned out to be quite useful, and my father has apparently become addicted to Youtube.

Cons: I would like to see some sort of sports ticker replace Bloomberg (or just be added in general) and Netflix replace AVOD. As far as AVOD is concerned, the streaming quality seems to be related to connection speed, rendering it useless to me with my slow country connection.
I would like to point out that while glare is not a major issue, I have noticed that sitting in certain positions relative to the screen and windows in bright daylight or with other sources of light, can result in mild reflections during 'black' scenes. It's not that distracting, but if you look for it, you can see it.

5 out of 5 eggsSO HAPPY!

Pros: Outstanding picture quality, movies have never looked so good.

Cons: Speakers leave something to be desired.
Only 3 HDMI inputs.< Not a real big deal.

Other Thoughts: Panasonic G10 F T W

5 out of 5 eggsJust right.

Pros: picture clarity/color
connectivity
ease of use

Cons: native sound a bit tinny
could use usb port

Other Thoughts: I bought this TV from the local Video Only for $1850 in late May. I've had it hooked up (to 3 400 disc DVD changers, receiver, source selector, DVD recorder, PS3, powerline adapter, router, surge protector) for a week now. Sound can be a bit tinny, but if you want to watch a movie or concert on TV you can just use the optical audio out to your surround system. All the new channels we get thanks to the internal HDTV tuner are great. Standard def movies look excellent, but Blu-ray movies from the PS3 are breathtaking. We tested it with The Fifth Element (remastered) and... WOW. The detail is astounding. We have it set up in a room with a large window wall casting bright sunlight directly on the screen and there are no problems with glare/reflections. If you have to watch standard def, you should be no less than 10 feet from the from the monitor. The lower the resolution, the harder it is to watch on a 54" screen. With quality Blu-ray and high def video games you can be nose-to-glass.

5 out of 5 eggsGood looking HDTV

Pros: Really big(!!!), crisp picture, good selection and placement of inputs, thin form factor for a plasma, dark rich blacks. HD content looks amazing. FPS games draw much faster than an LCD, on par with my old glass tube. QAM tuner is a must in my situation, and it doesn't disappoint. Quick tuning for digital channels. Also, standard def content looks good too, better than I expected. You can tell it's not HD, sure, but it looks pretty nice for what it is. Some HDTVs look like junk with SD. Anti-glare coating helps with reflections.

Cons: Could use more custom picture tweaking options.
TV speakers are underwhelming, but if you're buying one like this, chances are you'll disable them anyway.
Viera Cast = Waste of time. I didn't buy this TV with the intention of using that feature much, but after playing with it for a while, I am completely unimpressed- menus are slow/unresponsive, Bloomberg stock data is "uncustomizable", and there are ads in the stream. If I spend this much on a TV, you better not try to further advertise to me. Text interface with remote is laborious. In all, viera cast is a waste of time. Don't expect much from it.
THX certification is a waste of money with unclear specifications and ambiguous video definitions. I wish this TV didn't have it and George Lucas would give me back whatever portion of the price of this TV he got.

Other Thoughts: This is a very impressive TV. I knew for my purposes plasma was the way to go, but for my space, 50 was too small and 58 was too big. When I saw this TV come out at an attractive price, I pounced.
I kinda geek out about this stuff, so I've hooked up just about everything to this TV. XBMC on the original Xbox in 720p (1080i really nets nothing and is slower) looks very nice (too bad the CPU is underpowered for HD content...) Although, XBMC on my 2 year old dual core PC looks GREAT, HD .MKV files look and sound awesome. The 360 is impressive @1080.
QAM signals are great fun- if you have cable, you can usually find people's streaming on-demand content on an obscure channel.
For me, this was the perfect blend of price and performance in this size range. I generally get buyer's remorse for a while when I buy anything over $1k, but as soon as I unboxed this TV, it all went away. No regrets. Great HDTV.
