  • newegg FULL HD 3D Infuses Reality into Every Image Panasonic uses Full-HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking FULL HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.
  • newegg Infinite Black 2 In the new VIERA HDTVs models, contrast in brightly lit locations has been improved. Enhancements to the panel and cells help reproduce images with smooth, natural gradation and deep, rich blacks even when viewed in bright surroundings. In movies, the true, deep blacks faithfully convey the intent of the filmmakers, adding power and realism to the viewing experience.
  • newegg Easily Convert 2D Images into 3D Unique Panasonic technology converts 2D images into high-quality 3D images in real-time. The technology generates a detailed depth effect for each type of image, so the 3D effect is natural and realistic. Use VIERA HDTVs to enjoy Blu-ray movies, DVD movies and even ordinary TV broadcasts in 3D. The Super Resolution function allows images that were converted from 2D to 3D to be displayed in sharp, clear 3D while minimizing double image. 3D images with crisp contours are also produced from 3D broadcasts using the side-by-side method. (When a 2D source is converted to 3D, the 3D effect is slightly less pronounced than with 3D sources.)
  • newegg 24p Cinema Smoother Enjoy naturally flowing 24p films with familiar TV-like quality. In plasma displays, increasing the number of frames creates smoother images. When reproducing images from a 24p film source, VIERA HDTVs 24p cinema smoother function generates smooth, natural-looking images.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy I purchased

Pros: It is a smart TV that has excellent colors and blacks show as black ( not a dark grey). Mine came with the WiFi adapter. The TV does not get as hot as my older Panasonic plasma but a little warmer than my LCD which I replaced with this. TV is surprisingly light for a 50" plasma, not much heavier than my old 42 lcd. Great clear HD picture. SD is better than my other tvs but does have a hint of graininess.

Cons: I have not got the WiFi adapter to work. Sees my network but times out. I run Ethernet lines anyway but WiFi may be nice. SD could be clearer but is much better than any of my older TV's as well as my friends and families.

Other Thoughts: Consumer reports recommended and many features for the price. I got mine at a local shop for much less but is worth what Newegg sells it for. It is actually worth more than the current price. I was going to get a Samsung or LG but when comparing picture and features you cannot beat this TV.

5 out of 5 eggsBest 50" on the market.

Pros: Simply the best television money can buy at the moment.

Cons: Samsung has a nice channel list feature for standard cable / OTA television that I am missing.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd Plasma TV is working well

Pros: UPDATE from my previous ONE egg review: my 2nd plasma TV arrived safely without any cracks in the glass this time around. Seems good so far. With more testing may give this tv a 5 star rating, but we shall see.

Cons: the delivery guy still seemed clueless about how to deliver a tv safely. that is frustrating. wish we had better workers who actually cared in america, but alas our nation is not the same as what it used to be. even after the first tv arrived cracked, the same guy arrived with the 2nd plasma tv leaning over at a 45 degree angle (they are supposed to deliver the tvs upright/vertical) and made me wonder if the second one would work either. there is a slight buzz or noise in back of tv, however, it doesn't seem to get any worse and everything seems okay so far. i listened to some other computer devices around house and they make some noises too so hopefully it is normal. NOTE: i am at a higher altitude slightly above 7,000 ft. so maybe that is part of reason for the plasma tv making a bit more noise. thought speakers were blown at first, but that was due to bad connection with regular RCA video connection and now that i have HDMI blu-ray player connected to tv, speakers sound fine.

Other Thoughts: so far everything seems to be working great. i haven't really thoroughly tested it. i have watched avatar in 3d and that is pretty cool. i had some trouble trying to get the 3d glasses to work at first when i discovered a center speaker on tv stand was blocking the infrared signal from tv to the glasses and therefore i would see the two blurry images instead of one 3d image. should have purchased a wider tv stand to accommodate all speakers for home theater system. kind of wished i had purchased 55 inch but wasn't in budget/priority.

1 out of 5 eggsTV arrived with cracked screen

Pros: dead on arrival - cracked screen.

Cons: super bummer. this is exactly what i was afraid of. unfortunately, the plasma tv arrived today w/ a cracked screen. to make matters worse, i stupidly signed off on the package for the driver, because the box looked ok and i did not realize the screen was actually cracked pretty badly. it was dark in the room. i should have inspected the tv more thoroughly. let that be a lesson.

Other Thoughts: currently i am waiting for the claim to go through with newegg (5-7 days or so). patience is a virtue i guess. so, i guess i will try again and see if the replacement arrives safely because i would really like to give this panasonic a try. if i end up with another broken tv, i may have to buy an LED/LCD?

5 out of 5 eggsThree-Dee!

Pros: We bought this TV after deciding that our 38" CRT flatscreen was out of date (about 8 years old!) This is our first HD TV and man, could I tell the difference in quality right away compared to my old TV. Dynamic lightning is pretty nice, but the default video settings need to be tweaked for optimal brightness/quality.

Cons: Considering the price when we bought it (which was about $2K, you'd think they would have included the wireless adapter, but alas)

SD/ED also look grainy when played on the TV, but that's to be expected since it's a different format.

Other Thoughts: Bought this with the 3D package Panasonic had which gave us a Bluray player Avatar in 3D and 4 shutter glasses. I do enjoy the 3D, but you do need to turn the brightness up a little (THX mode isn't really bright enough)

We hadn't planned to buy a 3D TV because the technology still hasn't found a niche in the market to be stable yet, but another family member saw the demo and demad- err.. "insisted" we get this one instead. ;)

Regarding the network connection, I had to pull out a spare wireless router and turn it into a wired switch so I could connect all the networked devices (since I had 3) to my main line. But if you only have the TV, a $10 CAT-5e cable is just as good, unless you want to shell out another $100 for the adapter.)
