5 out of 5 eggsD6500K setting

Pros: There are no default picture settings on this LCD Television, it is especially important to calibrate the television's picture settings. In order to reach the full potential of the LTV-27w7, we used a colorimeter, a Sencore High-Definition signal generator, and a specialized software suite to calibrate the television to the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) standard color temperature of D6500K. Unlike most discount flat-panel HDTV's, the Westinghouse LTV-27w7 was able to maintain D6200K-D6750K during calibration. Although it remained "minus blue" throughout the IRE scale, the television did a reasonably good job meeting its calibration goals.

The following table contains the picture settings for the LTV-27w7 after its ISF Calibration. If you own a Westinghouse LTV-27w7, we highly recommend that you use the below settings to regulate the color temperature and white balance for the television:

Color Temp.Color 1

Brightness 49

Contrast 83

Color 75

Tint 49

Sharpness 0

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: i found this info on the web. enjoy.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Specs for the Price

Pros: - Great specs for the price. There are new 26"/27" TVs in this price range, but not with as good specs.
- As promised, arrived within 3 days after shipping.
- Remote had no visible physical defects.
- Manual appeared to be new physically.
- Speakers below screen give it easier-to-locate dimensions.
- Side cable connections are easy to access without having to move TV (at least for table mount).
- The firmware/OSD is intuitive.
- Digital, DVD, & PC Picture quality looks good to me. So far I've tested:
- Over-the-air (via roof antenna) Digital: SD (480i) and HD (720p & 1080i)
- DVD player (via component) (480i & 480p)
- External PC Monitor & sound (via VGA & PC sound).
- Speakers sound decent to me (2x9W with treble & bass controls)

Cons: - Was missing Quick Connect Guide listed in Manual.
- No cables supplied
- Entire screen covered with smudges & large whitish streaks, noticeable only at certain angles & lighting. However cleaned up very nicely & easily.
- Screen Defects: One pixel stuck off. Two sets of 3 pixels stuck on. One 1/16th inch scratch. However none has been noticeable when watching the TV.
- Casing has a few tiny scuffs & scratches, however they aren't very noticeable.
- Manual is clear but not complete, and also is outdated.
- Remote is annoyingly sensitive to direction at 5.5 ft. It's very flexible at 10 ft.
- Over-the-air (via roof antenna) Analog has noticeable ghosting.
- When watching over-the-air, the set has locked up a few times, though not in the last few days. Remote doesn't work nor the buttons on the TV itself. Have to unplug/replug.

Other Thoughts: - Refurb warranty of 90 days is clearly stated in a small Westinghouse pamphlet.
- Label on back says: MODEL NO.: LTV-27w7 HD TYPE NO.: SLT27D MADE IN THAILAND
- OSD says Firmware version is: F/W Version: V4.00.68 Micro Version: V023
- It's worth the time to experiment with the remote. Various buttons do more than is in the manual, more than is obvious, do different things in different situations, and in a convenient way duplicate functions. For example, a button helpful for over-the-air Digital is the underscore, which acts as a decimal and also pops up a mini channel menu.
- Each type of source input (TV, Component, etc.) has its own picture settings which you can only set while watching the particular source input.
- Casing and screen finishes are matte.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV

Pros: Very good TV, good quality Great TV for a bedroom. I got this for 379.99 , so it was a great deal, and Westinghouse is a pretty decent company.

Cons: Had to play around with viewing settings to get it just right, but nothing major. Has one dead pixel, but barely noticeable unless you look directly at and white background, dead pixels are common in LCD's.

Other Thoughts: Great deal, has warranty 1 year warranty from Westinghouse, Can't complain, a 27" inch Samsung would be nearly double the price. Get this TV you won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 eggsNice TV for the price

Pros: A decent lcd tv for a good price. Looked great out of the box - just a few smudges. No dead pixels or problems. Picture wasn't impressive with my SD cable box connected via RF. I got an HD box a few days later with component, and things are very much improved. It looks nearly HD on regular channels. I like the side-mounted connectors. The bottom-mounted speakers also means it fit into my 4:3-sized entertainment center.

Cons: Default display settings aren't very good. Take the time to research and play around to improve the quality. I don't believe there is an extended warranty available, so I'm taking a risk on the tv only lasting a year.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is awesome! I ordered this tv late Tuesday night with 3-day shipping. It arrived Thursday morning.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible deal

Pros: Arrived with no dead pixels or damage, looks brand new except for a smudge from careless fingers on the screen. The design is great because the speakers aren't on the sides so it is more compact than most TV's. I've only tested 720p on HDMI (from PC) and component (from X360) but they both look amazing, no motion blurring too! Unlike the Olevias the remote is functional and reliable. Even my SD cable looks good (just as good as my CRT TV I'd say). Best "value" TV I've ever seen.

Cons: Out of the box the display settings are terrible. Do some research on forums to find ideal settings. Once you get it perfect the image looks top notch. Manual is mediocre.

Other Thoughts: I bought this TV from a different online store (sorry Newegg) but I thought I'd review it for potential buyers. One thing to keep in mind is that Newegg does not offer extended warranties on refurb TV's so if it breaks after the Westinghouse warranty expires (I think 90 days) you are in trouble. In Newegg's description it doesn't list 1080i as a supported format but the TV does do it.
