Decent, but you get what you pay for
- Pros: Cheap (bought it for 499 when most 32 LCDs were selling for 699+ elsewhere with similar specs), good picture, easy to setup.
- Cons: There is some ghosting. You have to expect that with an LCD with a 8ms response time. One time it froze and I had to unplug it to reset itself, but otherwise good. No TV guide, only shows whats on the current channel (I have this on my 5+ yr old Mitsubishi projection that works with any broadcast source so I know its out there)
- Other Thoughts: Its a nice TV and I'm happy with it in my bedroom. With the slower response time, you see trails watching basketball or football. I would never use this as a primary TV in a living room if you watch sports. I'd either get a high end LCD with 4ms response time or less or go with a Plasma or DLP projection.
Great Value
- Pros: Picture looks good not great
but for the price i got it its a super deal games look and sound great on it
- Cons: N/A
Top Notch Performance and Quality
- Pros: I've had this TV since January '07 and it has performed perfectly.
The Westinghouse 32w6 has the cleanest design and excellent, natural looking image quality. In fact, after testing several of the other TVs, the Westinghouse is as good as the Sony or Samsung. Its images are crisp with very low black levels thanks to an obviously high-quality LCD panel, ATI Xilleon 240H video processor, and adjustable backlight. It’s also a very slim design with a thin perimeter frame (solidly constructed) colored a matte-finish dark gray/black with a dark silver trim along the sides and bottom. It looks and feels like a quality product. The menu system looks like graphic arts professionals designed it –simple, elegant, clean, with just the right cascading menu effect. The remote control is very effective and includes individual buttons for selecting each video input as well as backlight adjustment.
Overall, the menu offers excellent control over TV settings for calibration.
- Cons: This model has at least one of each type of input. The latest Westinghouse 32" models have more inputs.
Have experienced occasional TV lock-ups when attempting to tune weak over-the-air HD signals. When this happens, TV must be unplugged to reset.
- Other Thoughts: I compared 32” models from Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Sharp, Westinghouse, and a few others. The Sharp had a good image (after some tweaking) but it was bulky and its “piano black” finish reflected everything in sight. The Sharp’s menu system looked like something from a cheap PC monitor and did not speak of quality. The Panasonic and Toshiba were decent but their silver plastic housings were unattractive. The Samsung and Sony have excellent image quality but with side-by-side comparisons, I could see no standout performance that justified their higher price tags.
Since it’s nearly impossible to evaluate the quality of the TV’s speakers in the store, I was pleasantly surprised at the good sound quality and separation at moderate volumes and it’s about as good as it gets for a 10W+10W setup. And while it’s always possible that any LCD-based device will have (or develop) one or more stuck/dead pixels (no matter the manufacturer) I’m happy to report that my 32w6 has a flawless displa
