2 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: Good screen quality. Good performance when it's working.

Cons: First TV had to be replaced by Newegg because of failure almost right out of the box(screen would black out). The replacement TV worked for less than a month before it had a similar issue. Contacted Westinghouse, who took it for 4 weeks(not including a week subtracted for shipping). Afterwhich the TV has been working fine though I have noticed an imperfection in a small part of the screen since the repair took place.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely not recommend this product to anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: *42" for very cheap
*Decent appearance despite plastic construction
*Only uses 80 watts
*Supports 24p input (the only real use for its 120 Hz claim)

Supposed Cons:
*Poor audio (get a cheap home receiver; you'll thank me)
*Only 2 HDMI ports (a receiver will give you 4 and better audio)
*Remote (chintzy, but works, and my receiver's remote codes work with it)
*Tuner delay (2 secs to chg channel; just use a cable box or a PC with a tuner)
*No internet apps (actually better; use a HTPC so that the apps won't be out of date from day 1)

Cons: *Bluish hue due to cheap LEDs in the backlight
*Slight buzzing noise when turned on
*Sensitive to damaged HDMI cables unlike other monitors I've used
*Red power LED looks very cheap
*Slightly non-uniform backlighting (could be way worse)
*Contrast enhancing algorithm means that picture isn't pixel-pefect; can't be turned off; common on this brand
*Less-than-optimal vertical viewing angles (not the worst)

Other Thoughts: Get this for the value, obviously. It's thin and gets the job done. Personally, I'm glad it doesn't have the bells and whistles of most modern TVs. LED-backlighting, power consumption, and 120 Hz were important to me. Sadly, my PC doesn't see it as 120 Hz, but I can supposedly output 24p to it.

The buzzing is very quiet but nonetheless an indicator of Westinghouse's poor quality. So is the bluish backlighting and the sub-optimal viewing angles.

The box is very thin, which is nice. This screen barely fit in my TV nook in my tiny apartment, but now I can use a full-featured Win7 desktop from 8 feet away on standard resolution scaling. This means I can read PDFs for work and school while sitting in a reclined chair!

I was very excited this model did not have Netflix or any other "apps" that will never get upgraded and permanently be awful. Why would I pay for that? All I wanted was a display panel.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent

Pros: Good picture, thin. Good colors with some tweaking.

Cons: SOUND, just as bad as everyone else said. Ill take it a step further. If you think about purchasing this tv just act like it doesnt have speakers. They are totally unusable. I knew they were going to be bad from the reviews but I seriously ROFL when I turned them on and immediatly attached a set of $10 PC speakers which are 100 times better.

NO component input. You need a not included component to VGA adapter to attach component devices.

Other Thoughts: I use this is a wall mount PC display so sound was not an issue. Dont even think of using this as a tv with its speakers if you're thinking it can't be that bad (like I was) you're mistaken.

1 out of 5 eggsWestinghouse 42" LD4258

Pros: The picture is ok

Cons: I have repaired equipment with audio trouble that sounded better before I repaired it than this TV sounds. Has to be the worst TV audio ever. Sound is so bad it should be rated in the zero to negative range and I am not looking for great sound just OK. This TV doesn't even get close to OK sound.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks as 42" Monitor w/ Tv Tuner

Pros: Good video quality. Slim case and low weight make it useful as a desktop monitor or secondary TV.

Cons: Very poor audio, both speakers and electronics. Has a fixed stand with no adjustability.

Other Thoughts: Using this as a replacement for 6 yr old 37" LCD. The only way I could setup satisfactory audio was to send all audio input (Uverse DVR and media PC) directly to my Zvox ZBase 550 sound system. I suggest avoiding the TV speakers and even the analog audio output on the set.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, not great

Pros: Low power consumption
OK picture

Cons: Several significant:
Picture does not hold a candle to my 5 year old 42" Panny plasma (which this did not replace). Picture does not compare to my front projector (105" screen), which it should do very well against.
Sound is awful - I have a 24, 26" and 32" Samsung, vizio and Magnavox which sound much better. (the Vizio is LED, and thinner than the Westinghouse, these speakers are just pathetic)
Setup - the worst I've ever seen in any electronic device.
I have it connected to a Tivo and a PS3, with no intention of connecting it to the 75 ohm. This set would not let me past setup (returned to initial setup at each power on), until I let it scan for channels.
However, finding 'no' channels was not good enough - it had to find some channels before it would continue. So I connected an ATSC source, and was instructed to get a 'free' code from the Westinghouse site in order to let the tuner - tune!. That is incredible.

Other Thoughts: Getting the 'free' tuner code involved entering my serial number and model number, then getting a code I had to put back in the TV to allow it to tune on the ATSC. Lame

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Westy put the money into this TV exactly where I needed. Great picture clarity and performance. Using as a Home theater PC monitor. I set the TV to 1:1 (pixel per pixel) and run 1080p thru HDMI from the PC with no overscan or border problems at all. Images fill the screen perfectly. Icons and graphics are crystal clear. HD movies are smooth and sharp w/great color tones. Extremely light weight: much lighter than the 28" LCD it replaced. BRAVO Westy!!!

Cons: Audio is passable but who really plans to use the audio of an LED-thin screen long term?

Other Thoughts: Owned for about 8mos and use daily with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggswesty 42 inch

Pros: its my new monitor it works 24/7 has good color got it for 439 after thanksgiving---bright colors dark blacks--very happy with the picture

Cons: if you view a still page from up above or way to the left it does have a fade--i dont game so cant help ya there-i last thing i had to download the amd vision control center for my graphics card to remove the 1inch black band all around the screen just click overscan if you use a puter with this

Other Thoughts: got this in my bedroom hooked to my desktop i have a tv tuner in that i watch tv streaming media etc seems like everything above 360p looks sweet-i would recommend this the price is just to sweet--my brothers westy 22inch monitor has lasted 5 years or about to
