Sports enthusiasts and action movie buffs will find their perfect 40” HDTV in the Sony V Series. These televisions use Motionflow 120Hz technology, which dramatically reduces motion blur in fast-moving actions, resulting in amazing natural movement. The BRAVIA Engine 2 utilizes a digital video processor to reduce visual noise and improve the overall image. True Cinema technology gives movie buffs a treat by taking advantage of 24p-capable devices, like Blu-ray players. You’ll catch every nuance of the stunning action with the 50000:1 contrast.
Expand your home theater with four HDMI (1080/60p), and several HD component and combo (1080/60i) connections. For extra versatility, turn your LCD TV into a computer monitor with the D-Sub PC input. The built-in ATSC/NTSC tuner with QAM also captures over-the-air digital TV, HDTV broadcasts and standard analog television.
You’ll also appreciate the Advanced Contrast Enhancer, dynamic backlight control and Light Sensor technology that help reduce costs by dynamically reducing power consumption based on ambient light and the displayed image. V Series televisions are Energy Star 3.0 compliant. Even photos will look great on your HDTV. Just hook up your device through the USB port and enjoy the slideshow!
Pros: Excellent Picture Quality (Cannot Stress Enough!), 120hz support, 1080p through Component, low latency, great price!
Cons: Had defective Firmware for at least four months. A lot of the time while booting a blu-ray my entire screen would turn pink. When changing the channel sometimes the audio went static until I flipped it back. At one point I had to have the tv serviced to fix that the audio kept completely dropping whenever I watched a special feature on a blu-ray disc.
Other Thoughts: Sony quietly released an update to the tv at the beginning of august (and didn't tell me about it, I found it at the end of august) which fixed a laundry list of issues with the tv, most of which could've been avoided if they bothered to test their firmware updates before doing a wide release on them. The pink screen fix was not listed officially as a fix, however since updating the tv I (thankfully) haven't had any more. If you're lucky enough to have the latest firmware on it (or are smart enough to update the firmware yourself to the latest version, because Sony wont' do it for you) you might have a good tv.
