Cons: Terrible motionblur to the point of being unwatchable, terrible 3d with incredible cross talk. laggy smart interface, did not work with ARC on my receiver, terrible sony support, terrible 3rd party repair support.
Other Thoughts: I got this TV expecting the many positve reviews to be true. It is rated one of the best on many sites. I actually have a friend who owns the 60 inch version. I have seen it in stores on multiple occasions as well and every time it looked great. So i order it and it arrives actually 2 days early (yay!) I waited a few hours for it to warm up as it had been in the back of a truck in the cold all day. I unboxed it and turned it on and it worked (Yay again!)
we begin watching tv, and we quickly notice that it is almost unbearable to watch. terrible motion blur and ghosting everywhere. pixelation in anything dark. It must be the settings i think yo myself, lets just go in here and mess around. let me preface this by saying that i am a member of avsforums and i have experience calibrating displays. so anyway i go into the menus and start changing the settings related to blur and no change. hmm... maybe its the source i think, so i put guardians of the galaxy in my ps4 and sit back to enjoy. again terrible, unwatchable, as he runs in the first scene where he is an adult, you can see ghosts where his arms and legs where. the wife and inlaws agree and are no means videophiles. i did everything i could think of, bypassing my receiver, swapping hdmi, updating firmware, no change. I even used a professional calibration i found online, still no help
so i call sony. they take me through performing a hard reset on the tv, no change. they then take me through settings, no change. they then setup a dispatch for a 3rd party tech (electrasound) to come out and replace the power board.
10 days later, i take off work and wait. the tech showed up 2 mins before the end of the window i was given, and forgot the part. he says he will run and get it and be right back. an hour later he returns. he looks at the tv and the problem im having and says that the part will not fix the problem. he tells me to return the sony and get a samsung. he was also very condescending and completely unhelpful. he leaves saying that he will try to get in contact with sony and get back with me.
4 days later i hear nothing and call for an update - no update, so i get a supervisor. the tech is off work that day and he will check with him on monday and call me. 3 days later, supervisor calls back and says they cant get a hold of sony and want to come and replace the part. requesting that i take off work again for the tech to return. i decline as i already did and he was of no help, and so he agrees to come in the evening after work. all this time i have a tv that looks terrible, cannot get any help from sony or the 3rd party tech.
I am returning this TV and i ordered a 60 inch samsung plasma for less than half the price. cannot go wrong with a plasma. no smart, no 3d, dont care. i just want a good picture and sony apparently cannot fix their products so what good is a warranty?
