1 out of 5 eggsCustomer no-service, useless remote, hidden buttons

Pros: It works sometimes

Cons: Several remote buttons are dual-purpose, and marked in BLUE for the 2nd purpose. Well, how do you USE them, then? No answer from customer service; THEY DONT KNOW. The manual doesnt say. Page 31 says to restore to factory settings, enter the SETUP menu with the SETUP button. Well, its not SETUP unless you somehow magically find a way to press SHIFT or ALT or whatever, so setup can NEVER BE ENTERED, EVEN WITH 45 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH TECH SUPPORT ASKING AROUND IN THE OFFICE HOW TO DO IT.

To top it off, its 10 months into its 12 month warranty, and they want me to PAY FIRST if the TV is broken, then THEY determine if its under my 1 year parts and labor warranty. Did they get bought by Sceptre or something?

Other Thoughts: I'll never buy another Toshiba for as long as I live.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy it's great.

Pros: Understand something about the Toshiba TV's. The PurePixel 5G 14bit color processor. They do the best color preprocessing i've seen on an LCD. Skin Tones just look right. I can't say that of any other brand. Things look vibrant AND correct. I would say to tone back their Green level in their tv a tad and everything comes into it's stride.

Cons: None, this is a fantastic value and high quality. Not being extra thing and extra flashy makes provides room for a better build quality. For TV Speakers it sounds good, but get surround sound/soundbar.

5 out of 5 eggsNice tv

Pros: Nice TV. I wanted to use an LCD TV as a monitor and kept reading reviews trying to see any that would give me an idea if any would work well. This one does. I sit close to it, it looks good for movies, the text is easy to read, clear, no problems at all. I plugged an HDMI cable in from my graphic card and the picture came right up (primary monitor, extend desktop etc.)

Cons: I haven't read the book to much. It tells you to select Input to get it to display HDMI 1 where I have the cable plugged in but the down and up arrows don't work, it says to hit the zero key (my girlfriend was reading it to me) doesn't work. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out you just keep hitting INPUT over and over until it cycles to the HDMI 1 option.

Other Thoughts: Playing games on it is nice. Kind of overwhelming if I see 12" in front of it :) I guess I need a wireless keyboard or Home Theater keyboard or something.
Haven't noticed the speakers, I tie my PC into my receiver.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Toshiba fan

Pros: This is my second Toshiba LCD in 6 years, the first was stolen, =[. Toshiba has always been great quality and has had great longevity.

Cons: One can't help but notice magnitude of the LCD speakers are, well, minimal. This is expected though, you can't expect to have a booming bass coming from a TV that's 4 inches thick. Get a Receiver/Speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the price

Pros: This picture quality for this price is hard to beat. It has all the connections you may ever need and looks very elegant.
The Dynalight feature is very useful especially in low light when it automatically dim the brightness so it doesn't
strain your eyes. Fast motion is flawless thanks to the 120 Hz refresh rate.

Cons: Sound quality from the TV speakers is poor especially at medium high levels but, if you connect the TV to an AV receiver as I did, it doesn't really matter.

Other Thoughts: The price went higher $55 since I bought it: it got to mean something...

5 out of 5 eggsA great display full of pleasent surprises!

Pros: - Cost. The price has been up and down a bit lately, so watch before you buy. This is one of the best deals out there but it seems to go up and down by several hundred dollars.
- Quality. Straight forward setup. Serviceable connections. Well thought out.
- Great over the air tuner. It pulls in channels which were very flaky on my PC tuner flawlessly and I haven't even repositioned my indoor antenna. 1080p OTA looks amazing.

Cons: - VGA connector only does lower resolution (not a big deal, just use HDMI) - but plan ahead if you're using a HTPC - you'll need a DVI to HDMI connector or HDMI output from your PC.
- Internal speakers won't rattle your windows, but are very fine for casual TV viewing.
- Glossy cabinet attracts fingerprints, but looks good when clean.

Other Thoughts: I was looking at 46" and 47" models before some careful measuring revealed that these would be far too large for my living room. Once I started looking at 40" and 42" televisions it was natural to move toward this Toshiba. The LCD has the features you want for the right price.

I have this TV connected via HDMI to my HTPC (which runs XBMC) and the optical output goes from the TV to my Harmon Kardon amp... it's a proper audio pass through and the TV absolutely does not interfere with the audio quality. It's a fine setup and switching between the receiver and the internal speakers is easy. The TV works great for casual over-the-air viewing and when I want I can flip on the receiver and select a movie for a full home theater experience.

If you're thinking about a larger TV make sure you measure carefully. This TV fits perfectly in my living room where the larger TV I initially wanted would have been far too large. At 45lbs it's easy to install and move for a single person.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I'm very happy with this TV! The picture is great on OTA HD broadcasts. My Playstation 3 looks fantastic on both games and Blu-Rays. The stand is easy to put together, though it does not swivel. It has a lot of picture features and inputs. The sound is decent for watching normal TV, though I run movies and the PS3 through a receiver.

Cons: It does appear to leak a little light in all four corner, though I'm still tinkering with the picture settings which might fix it. Even if it doesn't, it's hardly noticeable.

Other Thoughts: A great TV for a great price. I searched around daily for a few weeks and there were no other TVs, either in size or features, that compared to the 40" Regza in the same price range.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Picture, Great Price

Pros: The picture quality of sports and other HD broadcasts are absolutely beautiful and incredibly lifelike. I was skeptical of the price until I saw this model side-by-side with other brands' higher-end models. We watch OTA TV and stream everything else via a Media Center PC connected with an HDMI cable and on both broadcast and web the contrasts and colors are perfect right out of the box. The sound quality is actually decent, too, which is surprising for a flat screen.

Cons: Wish I was able to wait a few months to get it for even less than I paid. At the current price, I'm thinking we need one of these bad boys in the bedroom!

Other Thoughts: I really like the picture size button on the remote. Not everyone has their aspect ratio figured out and it's nice to be able to tap one button a few times to scroll through the various screen resolution options instead of digging through on-screen menus. Oh, and the remote is SUPER easy to program to control your DVD, etc..
