5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: Great Price!
Great Vibrant colors

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: Definitely a great buy at $470. If it is currently anything under $550, I would say its worth it.

3 out of 5 eggsNice TV, Lousy sound quality..

Pros: Good picture and great price.

Cons: Lousy sound!!!!! Had I trusted the reviews on this I would NOT have bought it. Sounds like it's sitting in a bucket... The Audio outputs have NO volume control so we are back to using two remotes to watch tv.

Other Thoughts: Will not buy anything else made buy Toshiba.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat TV! Speakers not so much.

Pros: Great TV, nice remote with a simple interface. Mine had zero dead pixels and is perfect. It has 3 HDMI ports. Picture is spot-on perfect, with a decent refresh rate and great resolution. It generates very little heat, and is surprisingly light weight. The channel search/setup is quicker than others I've used in the past.

Cons: Sound is comparable to laptop speakers. In other words: not good. You'll need a supplementary sound system with this unit. I'm using a set of cheapy computer speakers with small sub, and even that is 10x better than the on board speakers. When showing dark color, you can notice a bit of the LED back lighting, but you can adjust a lot of that out - definitely not a deal-breaker.

Other Thoughts: The *only* reason I knocked an egg off was for the sound. Everything else is absolutely great and I would highly recommend getting it.

4 out of 5 eggsDAC works!

Pros: Digital audio works.

Cons: Analog audio didn't work.

Other Thoughts: Add to my previous review. I bought a Fiio D3 digital to analog audio converter, connected it with a toslink cable, plugged the gaming headset to the converter's rca out, now I can hear the game sound. I still think Toshiba dropped the ball here, the headset should be working with the analog audio out in the first place, it did with all my other tv sets. Shouldn't require me to spend the additional 30 bucks.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat picture, poor sound.

Pros: Bright and clear pictures.
Slim panel and light weight
Easy to set up.

Cons: Poor sounding speakers.
Analog audio out.

Other Thoughts: I've read all the reviews about this set of it's poor sound before I decided to buy. I didn't concern too much since it was for my kid's bedroom, he mainly uses it to play his xbox and ocassionally watch some ota tv or video (thru hdmi). My only problem is with the analog audio out of this tv, I connected his gaming headset to the set's RCA out to get the game sound. Not good, the sound volume was so low that I thought the jacks were defective (may be they are). I'm now trying to get a DAC (digital to analog converter) to see if I can get a louder sound thru the digital audio out. Other than that glitch, this is a fantastic tv

5 out of 5 eggsGame changer

Pros: This a fantastic set; 40" of sheer brilliance. The colors are vivid, plenty of inputs and the menu is slick and intuitive. The remote for this set is also grand, having buttons you wish you'd had on your previous set.

Super thin; this makes transportation or even space-saving on your stand/desk easy-peasy.

I love the touch-sensitive power/volume/input/etc buttons on the FACE of the TV.

Toshiba really did "think of everything" with this set.

Cons: Looks very plastic-y, but then, what doesn't these days?

Other Thoughts: I'm using this as a PC monitor, so my text on the screen looks a little messy. This however is only because of the distance I am sitting from the screen (a little over 2 ft.) I had to adjust the windows "cleartype" to clean it up a little.

This was a known factor for me, as it DOES look better than a 720p screen at my distance, 1080p would look much better at a larger viewing distance. Still not a deal breaker.

The speakers are what they are, don't expect PC or Home audio-level quality. They are speakers, they work and they were included in the price of the TV. LED TVs are notorious for poor speakers because of the panel thinning benefit LED has. Don't let the review of "bad speakers" deter you.

1 out of 5 eggsTin Can Sound

Pros: Nice picture

Cons: Internal speakers sound like tin cans. Unless you are going to use external speakers, avoid this set.

Other Thoughts: Arrived without a manual, the remote batteries and, more critically, the metric, thin-head screws for attaching the stand. Newegg suggested I contact Toshiba.
