5 out of 5 eggsGood TV

Pros: Great picture, couldn't beat price for 40" 1080p ($388).
Has all the inputs/outputs that I needed.

Cons: sound is a little tinny on the standard speakers.

Other Thoughts: Invest in a good sound system, as with any flat-panel tv.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent TV

Pros: Decent TV for the price.

Cons: Only 2 HDMI ports.

About once an hour, sometimes more, with comcast, the sound cuts out for about 3 seconds. I'm not sure where the problem is, but it never happened before with the same box, same cable on my old TV.

Hard to get the right setting for contrast.

Other Thoughts: Not disappointed with my purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsTV Not Bad

Pros: Nice little basic HD price...all around not bad

Cons: OK...You shell out about $400 after all is said and done.Open the box.Start setting up and then...BOOM...where is the HDMI cable ?Ask the kids what they did with it...wife,Where is the cable..did you see it ?
You have to go out and BUY a DOES NOT come with the TV
Wouldn't you think it would come with the unit ?Why is this done ?Now i have a bad taste in my mouth when i think of TOSHIBA..Bad Move TOSHIBA...Is it that important to squeeze a miniscule amount of profit from us buyers...Very Bad move

Other Thoughts: Other than the cable issue it is an ok unit

1 out of 5 eggsQuit Working after 7 Months

Pros: Good picture, DynaBright is really nice.

Cons: Stopped working after about 7 months of less than average use.
When power button is pressed, the Green LED turns on for 10 seconds, then turns off with the screen never turning on.

Other Thoughts: Currently in contact with Toshiba about what to do about this. They couldn't register my product and I will need to call back later.

3 out of 5 eggsusb port is worthless

Pros: Great price, got for under $200 at Black Friday. Once you go into the preferences and get rid of the energy saving picture mode, the picture is pretty good for a 60hz. I haven't had a problem with the sound at all, I think it's better than average. Sturdy, doesn't feel like it will break. Has vga hook up.

Cons: There are only 2 hdmi ports...which is sufficient. But don't get me started on how pointless and false advertising the usb port is that is on the set. I quote has "usb media port" but the specs don't go into detail saying what it can and cannot play. I get this bad boy home, plug in my usb, and to my surprise it will only "show" jpeg files and "play" mp3s....that's it. I have home movies and other media items that I would love to watch and have watched on my vizio as long as they are avi files, which isn't an issue at all. For the sticker price of this guy, I would expect that it could play avi files, I'm very very upset that it can't do it. It also lacks a quam tuner so if you don't have cable or satellite, then make sure you get it a tv tuner to watch your local stations.

The remote sensor is in the bottom left corner and it makes it difficult to respond if you are a few degrees off from it---aka don't point at the center of the tv. The remote is also a little slow to respond compared to other tvs but it's not a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: Toshiba and the other websites need to be specific in their "specs" section with what files the tv set can play if it has the ability to read a usb. Honestly for me, this may be a deal breaker and I may return it if I find a smaller tv set for the same price but with a usb port that plays video files.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: I guess since I'm so familiar with good color quality (being a CGI designer), I probably should've followed my first thought & not purchased this tv. But because it was the Midnight Madness Black Friday Sale at the local Best B*y, and this tv was only 179 bucks, I figured I'd give it a shot.

Cons: Sheesh... so many to mention, but let's start with color. TERRIBLE. And when you try to adjust it, your options are washed out or over-saturated. Also, the picture is dark and the contrast setting comes pre-set at 100% so you can't make it any brighter. Adjusting the actual 'brightness' setting just gives it a washed-out coloring. The picture is also 'cloudy' looking and no matter how high you adjust the sharpness, it doesn't clear things up at all. And I'm really surprised that regardless of the numerous adjustment settings, none of them help anything... lol It's almost as if they put them there just to fool people who may be looking at the tv in the store.

Other Thoughts: I would love to be one of those people who says "If you're looking for a cheap tv & you're not picky about picture quality, this is the tv for you." But I can't even say that. This tv is just terrible. Period. And even for the 179 buck Midnight Madness Black Friday Sale that I waited outside in the cold for 2 hours with about a billion people for, I'm on my way to take this tv right back to Best B*y. I'd rather add a little more money & buy another Samsung.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great TV for the price (bought mine for $384.99). Bought it as a gift for my mother.

Other than that, it is a TV. It does what I would expect a TV to do. I like my 40" Panasonic better.

Cons: Number 1 complaint: The Audio is TOO LOW. Even when the volume is cranked up all of the way, the audio is TOO LOW!

The chipset for this TV must be cheap because its response time to the remote control is horrendous. In other words, it takes too long for the TV to respond to a button press on the control. So sometimes you press the button more than once thinking the TV didn't receive the signal, but it did and now you are two channels ahead of where you wanted to be.

The remote control distance is very short. I'd say about 4-5 feet at best. That is the shortest distance I have ever experienced with a TV.

I think it wouldn't have hurt to still include one dedicated composite input. I know it is old, but there are still a lot of devices that use it.

5 out of 5 eggsOverall fantastic

Pros: The TV has been great. We've had no issue with the quality of the picture nor it's feature set. All the plugs available are great as well as I run an HDMI cable from my computer to it as well.

Cons: It is fairly slow turning on, but that is a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Not enough for me to deduct from it.

Other Thoughts: Very pleased with the purchase and the price we paid.
