5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: - Great size for a medium sized living room (12 ft x 16 ft)
- Full Array LED TV - Colors are true
- Great Contrast & Brightness - I can tailor these for any type of input I provide
- More than 2 HDMI Inputs! Bye-bye external HDMI switch
- Great Start-up time. Less than 5 seconds for the screen to turn on
- I can use the TV remote to operate my Blu-Ray Player and Cable Box! My wife is really happy with this feature.
- 240 Hz is fantastic! Less blurring of the puck during hockey games!

Cons: - Sound is tinny and weak
- The Vizio apps lack the features of portable device apps, and as such, I don't use the apps due to the lacking operablity. I would very much appreciate an update to be able to use the internet on my TV.

Other Thoughts: I updated our 32 inch HDTV 1080i in our living room. I was using an external HDMI splitter to accomodate all the inputs. This TV has two open HDMI slots still! The update from 1080i to 1080p is noticeable with the size increase.

In researching this TV, I found out there are multiple versions of the XVT 47x line.
- The XVT472SV (earlier model) has NO internet capability.
- The SV472XVT (this model) has internet capability.

For those of you worried about buying a refurbished Vizio: IT IS WORTH IT!. The TV arrived in a white TV box with adequate foam and padding. I cannot tell the difference between this TV and a new purchase. There are no scratches on the exterior, nor are there any usage marks on the plugs and sockets.

4 out of 5 eggsBrilliant display, easy set-up, great price

Pros: · Bright, crisp, perfect saturation

· LED Auto-dimming is very responsive (backlight turns on and off with little to no delay after blank screen)

· Easy to change inputs - allows you to label each one

· Wonderfully intelligent Bluetooth remote - knows which input device you're viewing, and automatically switches to control that device

· Streamlined remote set-up - choose your brand on the TV, it'll find the right code for you

· Pulls in ATSC signals that other TV's struggle with - more free channels

· Wi-Fi setup was very quick, easy to enter WPA key with included keyboard

· Other graphics enhancements make even SD inputs easy on the eyes

Cons: · Menus are a little slow and unresponsive at times, but it has yet to become frustrating

· Most video apps don't work in Canada

· Netflix setup fails each time - will look into this further, since I have an Apple TV anyway

· The sound from the built-in speakers is tinny, or 'hollow' sounding. Then again, this TV deserves a good sound system, so I can overlook this.

Other Thoughts: Got this for my parents' 30th anniversary, and it is the PERFECT TV for them. The set up may be challenging for those who are hopeless with technology, but once that's done, even a baby could use it. The menus and functions are straightforward and streamlined, and things like user-configurable input labels and the auto device switching function of the remote just make it even easier.

(Better explanation of the remote 'auto switch': At the initial set-up, or later on, you can define the types of devices that you have connected to each input, and have the TV configure the remote for you in order to control those devices. Then, once you select an input [DVD, for example] the remote will switch over to controlling the external device without any further button presses.)

3 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Good size and price/features for the refurb unit
Pretty good built-in speakers compared to most flat panels I've heard
Looks like the picture would be good if...

Cons: ...there weren't vertical red lines all over the dark areas of the picture (especially in gradients). Firmware's been updated, no luck. It's still usable though, and sometimes the lines will disappear once the TV warms up.

Other Thoughts: Thankfully I opted for the extended warranty, so I should be able to get this repaired on-site. I've found they usually pay off with refurbs, and I'd definitely recommend it since the red lines problem seems to be a common issue with this model.

1 out of 5 eggsReject

Pros: Would be a great tv, if it wasn't defective

Cons: The set I received was obviously a returned defective unit and has never been re-certified. It has a loud annoying buzz/hum/crackle as soon as its turned on and a large scratch across the front of the stand. There was no documentation and some of the accessories were missing.

Newegg are currently stonewalling me when I asked for them to pay the return costs.

5 out of 5 eggsIntensity

Pros: This television came with everything necessary to use in a command center (a.k.a. man cave). The picture quality is so clear, consise and vibrate it blew me away.

It also has more than enough inputs to please any gamer/electronic geek to include 1 composite and 4 HDMI slots.

Along with those features it comes with a 240 refresh rate and gives you VIZIO applications.

Before you can see anything though, you have to set it up. I like a more-basic look to my house so I put it on the television stand. Set up took 5 -10 minutes, only because I took the time to pledge the wood the television was going to be sitting on.

All-in-all: This television has great picture, gives you plenty of options to adjust your viewing pleasure and very simple to use. (Not to mention the remote has a full keyboard on the back side to use when you are using the applications). It is definitely worth more than the cost.

Cons: For gamers, you might notice a slight lag delay. You can fix this easily. You go into the main menu, change the layout to wide screen and then turn the "Game Mode" on in the Settings Menu.

Would have been great if these settings saved, but you have to do this before you start playing every day. Probably the biggest issue I have with the television.

I also do not understand why it is 10 - 15 pounds heavier than the 42-inch, but still does not weight that much. These issues aren't even big enough to drop it down a point.

Other Thoughts: This television was suppose to go into the command center, but I bought the 42-inch version of this television the week before. The wife noticed and had me swap them out. They both work wonders, but the 42-inch has a 120 kHz refresh rate.

4 out of 5 eggs@ t.r.get

Pros: 1st Make sure you connect the tv to the internet (even if you have zero plans to use the apps) so it can update the firmware.

2nd Research freight companies in your area and find the least expensive one. You have weeks left to return it so speed is not an issue.

3rd Return it This is the risk with recertified/reconditioned items.
I have purchased 3 Vizio TVs from Newegg and all have been flawless...but even with new items, bad luck happens.

4th Expect no response from Vizio or Newegg in the comment section for recert/recon products.

Cons: Sorry mate, I hope the firmware fixes your issue but I do not think it will...worth trying however!

Good Luck ;-)

1 out of 5 eggsred lines

Pros: The picture is great.

Cons: I got vertical red lines on the second day of use.

Other Thoughts: It is not used very much and I tested a the connections and other input items. But it is infact the T.v. It could be a small problem... And I might be able to take it apart and fix it but I dont have time for that and I feel that if I buy something It should work. I guess the outcome if this review will really depend on the company response.
