5 out of 5 eggsNice TV, Good price, 20 wks for rebate

Pros: This Vizio 42" TV is a great monitor. The shipping box arrived smashed and the back of the cabinet has a small crack and it still works like a charm. It is on the wall in a large kitchen. Sound is via in-ceiling system so we dont care about the in-box speakers. INput is from HD Cable box (FiOS), or PC, or Samsung smartphone. We use HDMI 1 & 2 in (@1080p), PC in, USB slot, Optical s/pdif out to audio system. All plays well. Picture is fine in bright kitchen.

Cons: It took 20 weeks for the $75 rebate to show up. The application said allow 8 weeks. Newegg, you need to do better here. I did not drop an egg for this cause the rebate did arrive without my chasing it. I was about to though.

The receiver takes its time reacting to the remote control. I use a Harmony 750 programmable remote and I had to program all sorts of waits into the TV setups to make sure the input and power get set reliably. It takes about 6 seconds to complete the "Watch tv" or "Watch movie" activities.

Other Thoughts: TCV is in service about 5 months now. I expect this unit will last since it was obviously dropped and prodded in shipping and still has a decent picture. I replaced a 32" Panasonic with this 42" because the price was right. We are very pleased that we did.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Great price!

Pros: -Great picture quality
-great sound quality
-great price
-looks brand spankin' new
-4 hdmi ports
-solid base

Cons: The only thing I can think of (im not a picky person) is i often read about people listing a non-rotatable base as a con, to me this is no issue, though.

Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd refurbished vizio TV i have bought. They both arrived in great condition, both had amazing picture/sound and looked brand new. I love Vizio! I am a very happy customer, and Vizio has won me over, I love these TVs!

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The TV works fine. Quick delivery.

Cons: this TV came without the neck and screws for the stand rendering the stand useless. I had to go buy a wall mount. I would hope this refurbishing outfit will be dropped.

Other Thoughts: First time I have ever been unhappy.

3 out of 5 eggsAwesome TV; wonky packaging and missing pieces

Pros: The TV is great. It fulfills my visual needs and has 4 HDMI inputs. Fits really well in the living room in my 720 sq. ft. apartment.

Cons: The first thing I saw when I got my package was a poorly put together cardboard mess with one side torn up. Everything inside was fine, but still packaged clumsily. While trying to assemble the TV stand along with the poorly worded manual (manufacturer's fault), I realized I was missing all of the screws that were supposed to be included.

Other Thoughts: The only actual problem I had with the product was a little bit of confusing wording. Other than that, it's great. However, I definitely can't say the same for the company who did the refurb.

2 out of 5 eggsBe careful of this refurbished TV

Pros: Beautiful picture, looks really sharp and clear

Cons: Where to start - the box was 'delivered' by the shipper. They essentially got it to the doorstep rang the bell and ran off because the box was in such bad condition. After opening what was left of the box, the TV appeared OK. The pedastal and stem wouldn't attach - because the refurb folks packaged the wrong pedastal in the box. The power cord was also incorrect - it was more like a printer cord. The TV border had 3 large tape sticky marks which I would assume came from when the TV was returned - very difficult to get off. Some of this gooey was on the screen itself - I think I got it off OK. Why wasn't this goo removed by the folks who refurbished this?
Now to the best part - when I look at the Newegg page for this TV it is NOT clear that the TV isn't from Newegg. At the very bottom you see "Sohnen Enterprises" as the warranty holder - and that is where Newegg directed me. So instead of getting superb Newegg service, I'm left to deal with an unknown.

Other Thoughts: I called Sohnen about the pedastal - and was directed to a web page for faster service. At this time, I'm just waiting for a response. I also had to go purchase a mounting kit as I couldn't really just leave the TV laying around - so $50 more spent on this TV.
I'm going to be submitting the $75 rebate - hopefully I actually get the money.
I've had good luck in the past wtih refurbished products - but this one was a dud.
