2 out of 5 eggsApparnetly QC has changed at Vizio, also avoid UPS

Pros: As stated picture quality is very good once the ambient light sensor is disabled, and the price is low. For me that's where good things about this ended.

Cons: Aside from shipping damage (see below), the unit I received does not match earlier reviews of "looks brand new other than the plain brown box it comes in." Mine had scratches all over the backside, including a very deep gouge in the back panel and obvious tool marks from where the clamshell case was disassembled. Doesn't effect performance but its unsightly. Also found damage to the LCD panel itself - several pixels are warped allowing more backlight through than adjacent pixels, which give the appearance of gray spots when the background is dark, so even if it wasn't for the UPS-incurred damage I'd be returning this.

Other Thoughts: Newegg ships this in the box it comes in - no extra layer of protection. It would appear that the box was dropped several times, and when I received it (wasn't at home when it was delivered, otherwise I would not have signed for it) the box was in bad shape - both bottom corners had collapsed in on themselves and upon opening it I found the corner sytrofoam braces had taken so much abuse that they fell apart, leaving the left-hand side of the TV exposed to further abuse. As a result the back panel is now warped and does not mesh with the front bezel anymore. Also, the plastic that one of the screws engages with is broken, a result of which is the front bezel is now loose in the bottom/left corner. I have a claim working but given my history with UPS I'm not holding out for them to cover the damage - undoubtedly they'll come back with "insufficient packaging" and I'll be stuck with a broken TV.

1 out of 5 eggsDisapointed

Pros: Good price

Cons: Set up, Sound issues, Screen issues

Other Thoughts: I received this tv as a Christmas gift and was very excited to set it up. After removing the box I found that some of the hardware required to attach the stand was missing. After going to the hardware store I was able to get the stand attached and the tv set up. Upon turning the tv on I found out that it has a loud buzzing sound about 80% of the time. This goes away when the tv is muted. The buzzing can be heard over the volume even when the volume is set low or high. I decided to get a sound system because I figured that might bypass the buzzing but I haven't got a chance to try that yet. Finally in the last 2 weeks red/pink bars have started rolling up the screen from the bottom. This isn't every time the the tv is on but occurs about 80% of the time. The lines are faint but very noticeable on pictures with large amounts of solid color.

I have contacted newegg about a return/repare and have yet to hear back since I contacted them this weekend. I will update when I do.

5 out of 5 eggsRecertified is not used

Pros: Vizio is the only company I know of that is true american support. Had an ant somehow crawl inside my tv and die creating "dead pixels" that were actually a shadow of the ant's body. Made 1 ten minute call to their support number and within 10 days I had a "recertified" tv dropped off.

Vizio's standard of recertified is simply buying back over stock. So yea the TV inside may be a year old but my "recert." TV looks every bit as nice as the two other vizio's in my home.

Cons: Didn't upgrade it to the new 65" theatre class.

Other Thoughts: 2- 240hz 55" Vizio VIA's
2- 37" 60hz
2-42" 120hz

All work as nice as the day I first bought them, with the exception of the afforementioned one (not a vizio problem, just an ant problem).

Sold Tv's for 3 years and Vizio is THE only real option when buying a TV. PERIOD.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The picture is good, and the LED back light is great after you turn off the ambient sensor and adjust it manually. It has easy to navigate settings and options. After a few simple tweaks it's a fantastic TV.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My TV came with no signs of wear and tear on the TV at all. If it wasn't for the generic brown box, and knowing I purchased a recert there is no way of telling. I would buy another, and have recommended this to a friend.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for me

Pros: grand total was 499.99 at the time of my purchase
little wall mount hooks and a stand up platform incl.
value
as HD as you can get spec wise

Cons: none besides it not being break the seal brand new

Other Thoughts: it being a recertified / refurbished tv puts it in its own category. with that being said, there is no indication of mistreatment... or use, receiving a 4/5 because, only toshiba or samsung etc. would receive the perfect score while being shipped, packaged, and preserved in the same fashion
