1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Cheaper than dirt
42" screen
LED
USB port
3 HDMI inputs
2 A/V inputs
2 RGB inputs

Cons: Arrived defective; 1/4" wide column of dead pixels running full height from top to bottom about a third of the way in from the right edge of the screen.

Wall mounting location does not follow VESA standards; On a TV this size and weight VESA mounting is typically 400mm. VESA standards are 75mm, 100mm, 200mm, 400mm, 600mm, and so on. This TV is 300mm x 300mm. If you are wall mounting, keep in mind that this TV is *BETWEEN* VESA sizes, so you'll need a mount that's fully universal, and not limited to VESA standards only.

Scaling options are very limited with no ability to control under/over-scan. When connected HDMI to a PC with an nVIDIA GPU, it refused to connect in 1080p. Instead it connected as 1080i and over-scanned heavily, losing the outer 3/4" of the Windows desktop all of the way around the screen. When connecting the same PC to our Vizio, scanning is dead on…Of course, a refurb 42" Vizio Razor will cost you an extra $150+.

Other Thoughts: At only $280, we have decided to take a chance on a replacement, as opposed to a refund. Here's hoping that round two goes better than round 1.

4 out of 5 eggsBut for the price...

Pros: Price.
LED.
1080p.
42 inches.
HDMI inputs.
USB input.

Cons: Weak sound.
Noticeable lights in corners.
The box took a beating.
The television did too.

Other Thoughts: Make no mistake, this is not a flawless deal. This poor guy arrived in (like many other reviewers have noted) a beat-up box. Mostly damages to the edges, but not a severe as others have described. The black frame was cracked on arrival, but the screen is fine. It's purely cosmetic damage. The sound is abysmal to say the least -- like listening through a tin can -- but I planned on using a sound system already. Overall, its well-designed, sleek with a touch sensitive panel rather than protruding buttons, good darks and lights after a bit of tuning in the menus, and quality picture for only $300. But the sound and damage definitely mar this deal. If you're on a budget (like me), you should take the chance. NewEgg's pretty good with return policies, just in-case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV Great Value

Pros: I bought this tv on few months ago as a referb and it has worked flawlessly. The picture is very bright and clear from any angle. Not to mention it is super slim on account of it being an LED-LCD. Great buy at 420 bucks!

Cons: Being a referb the only issue was the base had a few scratches - But the screen was perfect and shipped with protective plastic

1 out of 5 eggsWhat you see is what you get!

Pros: Price: LED Tv under 300? You can't beat that

Cons: As other reviewers commented.. the box the tv came in had had taken a good beating. Torn in more places than I can count and had tape all over it. Shipper did not even bother delivering it. Frame was cracked around the screen and I just shoved the tv back in the box after that. This one is going back.

Other Thoughts: 1st experience shopping with Newegg.. May just spend more money getting a tv for my room

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent deal

Pros: Awesome deal for the price, has great looks, good picture, for the price really can't go wrong. 3 HDMI inputs plus a USB input.

Cons: Only has a coaxial digital audio out, not Toslink/Optical. Built-in audio is really bad, I used some USB-powered speakers for everyday TV, and then have a coaxial digital to toslink adapter for my surround sound.

Other Thoughts: For the price really can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bargain

Pros: Great bargain, 42 inch television for under $300. Full 1080p HD , multiple connections options (HDMI, S-Video, RCA, composite, USB, etc.). If you've never owned a digital television before this was the bargain/shell shocker. User manual is short and sweet, lots of connection pictures.

Cons: You need to hook the TV up to speaker system. Built-in sound sucks.

Also, reports of TVs not working for very long - be sure to invest in a warranty plan, and that you are willing to deal with a break-down of the TV. What's your back-up plan to continue watching TV if it stops working? (We only have one TV in the house)

I only have expanded cable. The TV tuning process was fine,. Some channels only have a channel number and not the channel name (AE TV, MSNBC, etc.)

Digital over the air TV channels are saved at the very end, for example Channel 121-12 was Fox Digital. To get to that
station you have to enter in "121-12" on the remote.

You see people in life-size detail.. make-up, pimples, and all. Not something you get to see on a cathode ray TV.

Other Thoughts: Product arrived damaged from shipper, however, the TV works fine. The box it was shipped in was severely damaged: puncture holes, drag marks, frayed and torn edges, etc.

I had to return the working TV because the manufacturer warranty is voided when you receive a damaged product through shipping. The TV suffered a large crack (4 inches) along the TV frame/border as well as scuff marks.

I'll probably have to wait until Xmas to get another deal like this. It is disappointing to have your first taste of digital HD, only to have to return the TV a week or so later.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, worth the bucks!

Pros: PRICE, PICTURE, SIZE=THIN! & MULTIPLE HOOK UPS;
a dozen types of inputs w/ (3) AV & HDMI + digital tuner antenna. Menu options are nice, good personalization ability in settings.
*Separate on/off switch to kill even stand-by mode when necessary. Nice.
*Front menu indicators are touch sensitive. Its a nice space ship like aspect. Cool, but not likely to get a lot of use since if its at all dark you CANT SEE any of the options anyway. Simple, elegant but simple perk.
*REMOTE itself, it is CHEAP. Likely to be replaced once the cat knocks it on the floor too many times: that being said though, the OPTIONS on the remote are pretty intuitively placed & choosing input modes are 4 diff color buttons. Cant get easier.
*BASE is heavy metal&&polly that is really stable & the swivel is ultra smooth while not being loose at all. Very nice. *SETUP: Watching it in less than 15min.
*PICTURE: Warm colors. HD & aspect ratio is great. 60Hz is 60Hz - so far movies & streaming & XBOX look grea

Cons: Remote a bit cheap-ish.

REFURBISHED: Nothing yet - fingers crossed.
Got extra coverage just in case and will update if anything comes up, but its looking good so far.

Other Thoughts: Speakers are a bit in the mid-high to high range, but can add a decent amount of base for a TV sound - volume does get loud. But for real stereo or surround - use a nice external system.

A little "bright" but that is the LED difference so not really a problem, more just the style. I'd love to get a plasma for another room to have both as options. In an 8ft. room - its like being in a private theater, literally in wide-screen its easy to forget.

1 out of 5 eggsDamaged on arrival, shoddy packing

Pros: Was on sale for $300, reg price $600. Arrived in 2 days.

Cons: Significant physical damage. Shipped with thin plastic bag around it in a flattened corrugated box - no product box, cushioning or styrofoam/peanuts - just some folded paper on one side (nothing on top/bottom/front/back).

Arrived with frame damage (4'' crack, broken corner). Spidering/glazed scratches covering 1/4 of screen as though screen sustained impact.

Other Thoughts: Having to RMA. Disappointed in newegg.
