1 out of 5 eggsIt almost killed my family!

Pros: It is cheap and picture is not to sub-par for the price.
It comes with a dvd player.

You can find this T.V. brand new for 180 dollars.

Cons: It catches on fire without warning and the company does not cover the shipping cost nor give you a loaner while being shipped for repair.

Very poor sound that cuts out often and extreme volume fluctuation.

Poor picture, but hey, you get what you pay for.

Set up is unnecessarily complex.

Other Thoughts: Proscan does not do anything to help customers who have had these T.V's CATCH on FIRE IN THEIR HOMES!
When calling for support they have picked up and hung up right away for reason of not wanting to deal with customers.
They do not cover the shipping costs for their products needing to be sent back to themselves, nor cover the shipping costs of shipping your products TO YOU!
Stay away from PROSCAN. I smell a class action lawsuit underway..

5 out of 5 eggsRemote stinks but still 5-EGGS

Pros: Price
Looks
Clear picture
Clear sound - so far

Cons: Remote

Other Thoughts: Only issue out of the box was the remote. Not the size, thoujgh it is small, but the layout is bad.

Not intuitive or industry normal configuration. The print being rather smallish makes it difficult especially in low light. First issue you'll notice is the select/enter buttion isn't the round one like usual. It is tiny little button located next to a bunch of other tiny buttons. Play, skip and other DVD controls are likewise difficult to locate by touch. They are there but no distinction is made to make them easy to find.

For the price I'll overlook that issue.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: The picture is superb. For the money I’m kind of blown away at the sharp, bright picture. DVDs look spectacular for not being BluRays. The anti glare finish is great compromise between anti glare and sharpness.

The whole TV looks great.
The edge around the screen is very small and has only a modest “Proscan” logo on save discrete lettering identifying the buttons on the bottom of the TV.

Built-In DVD players are the bomb for wall mounting. Assuming you have your cable and 110V behind the mount you have no visible wiring. No HDMI cable running to a DVD player and no separate DVD player to deal with and only one remote albeit a lame one.

It’s almost disturbingly light. Very easy to pickup and install.

The aspect ratio is almost always displayed correctly without having to intervene, a very nice feature.

The menus and all the firmware are great.

The sound quality is adequate for “standard TV sound” loud enough etc. but with small speakers aiming down from the bottom of the TV you won’t get hi fidelity sound.

Cons: As others have noted the remote is sort of a mess, it’s a mass of` little round buttons, all the same color with only tiny print to differentiate them. The often needed function of switching between DVD/TV/INPUTS requires finding the “Source” button then a race against time to hit the oddly placed “Enter” button before your source selection disappears. You get used to it but it takes practice, hence it’s not intuitive or user friendly. The up/down, left/right navigation buttons are normal enough and the channel and volumes buttons on either side of them is intuitive enough but the button in the center is the configuration “Menu” button instead of “Enter” like most remotes. I find myself navigating DVD menus only to hit the “Menu” button when I want to select “Enter”.

If you are wall mounting the vesa mounting holes on the back are 5MM threads which will probably require a trip to the hardware store since all the TV mounts I’ve ever bought came with 4MM and 6MM screws not 5s and the only screws included are 4MMs for attachig the base.

You have to be in DVD mode to do anything with a DVD, even eject. It's the only real flaw in the firmware.

I bought two and they were delivered to my front stoop in only the big colorful Proscan boxes. You could see I had new TVs delivered from a block away. Kind of a miracle nobody ripped them off before I got home from work. I live in a nice neighborhood but this is kind of asking for it. Newegg: put these in brown boxes please.

Other Thoughts: We’ll see how long it lasts, I was afraid to gamble on such a cheap complex unit so I bought the extended warranty. For now however I’m very happy with this TV. It’s a great value and Newegg is always a joy to deal with.
